Your driver seat's lumbar support feature may push too hard into your lower back or shift unexpectedly during driving, even when set to the lowest position. You might not notice the discomfort until after you get out of the car, but extended driving can cause lower back strain, muscle spasms, or numbness that could affect your ability to drive safely and react quickly. The issue appears to be a design problem with the lumbar support mechanism itself rather than normal wear. A repair or replacement of the lumbar support mechanism may be needed to resolve the issue.

THE SEAT IN ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. THE TRACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT IS THE CULPRIT. I HAVE REMOVED THE SEAT TO INSPECT IT AND THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT BUT IT WASN'T MOVING WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT IS GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY. IT IS ANNOYING TO HAVE THE SEAT MOVE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. IT FEELS LIKE IT MAY COME OFF SOMETIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE HEADREST WAS BURNING CAUSED BY THE SUNLIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. DRIVER'S SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH AND IS LOOSE ON THE TRACK THAT SECURES IT TO THE FLOOR. AFTER INSPECTION BY A CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IT WAS STATED THAT THIS IS "NORMAL". THE CONDITION SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORST AS TIME GOES ON. CONCERN LIES IN WHETHER OR NOT THE SEAT IS SECURELY BOLTED DOWN (THEY CONFIRMED IT IS) BUT IS JUST LOOSE WITHIN THE TRACK AND IF SO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN THE CASE OF A COLLISION? CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BOTH VEHICLES HEATED SEAT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER WANTED TO KNOW, HOW COULD A VEHICLE NOT SOLD, POSSIBLY BE DEEMED NOT UP TO VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS, BUT A VEHICLE SOLD WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BE DEEMED NOT TO BE SUBJECT TO A SAFETY ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS WERE UNCOMFORTABLE TO SIT ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SEATS WERE TAKEN OUT AND SPRINGS WERE ADDED BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BAR UNDER THE SEAT THAT WAS SURROUNDED BY 1/4 INCHES OF FOAM THAT WAS CAUSING THE DISCOMFORT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE SEATS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,710. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPRINGS IN THE SEAT. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, HE STATED THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT WAS STILL THERE, EVEN MORE SO WITH THE EXTRA FOAM. UPDATED 02/14/13
