2015 Nissan Versa Note Steering Problems

The power steering on my car stopped working out of no where while driving on the highway. I couldn't turn and almost crashed while going around a bend. Brought it to a nissan dealer and they told me the entire steering column needs to be replaced for $5,390.

I rented a 2015 nissan versa note from budget rental out of the prov ri airport on 1-12-16 to go to a wake & funeral. After leaving the wake and about 7:30pm not long after starting the vehicle and traveling 1/2 mile I lost both the ability to brake and steer, I wasn't going more than 10 MPH . The vehicle lost control of both the steering and the brakes were hard and unresponsive.

While driving in the freeway this morning I heard a click and then the "ps", power steering, light turned on. The car was driving in a straight line when this occured. When exiting the freeway it was clear that the electric power steering had turned off.

While driving on the freeway, my car all of a sudden stalled to the point where I could not steer, press on the gas or the brake. I had to turn my car completely off and back on in the middle of the freeway in order for the car to work again. This happened three times in a span of a mile before I was finally able to get over to the shoulder of the freeway.

The PS warning light has been coming on intermittently. The power steering goes out and the vehicle is hard to steer. My safety and others are put at risk if I lose power steering.

While I’m driving the car it starts swaying or jerking to the right sometimes to the left. Mostly when I press the gas to go faster. It’s very scary and I’m afraid it will run me in a ditch or into another vehicle.

While driving during the day (it was over 95 degrees), all of sudden all the warning lights came on, the brake pedal locked up, the gas pedal didn't work, and the power steering wasn't working. I was able to pull it over. I turned it off and on twice, and everything was working fine.

Power steering fails in higher than 85 degree temperatures as well as below 25 degrees. Sometimes the warning light for it comes on when it fails and other times it does not. This problem comes and goes, not limited to just moving.

I bought this car with 36,00, thousand miles. After 20,000 miles I had enough. Too many problems, ps light (indicating steering wheel problem) on the panel for no reason and nissan charged me for that.

Twice now since 06/17/2017, my power steering on my 2015 nissan versa note has gone out. The steering wheel became very hard to maneuver and the ps light came on. The first time was only for about an hour.

A few weeks ago while I was driving my car shut off right in the middle of the street and was unable to steer, my children were in the car. I has gas in the car, the car never overheated and there were no warning lights on the car. This happened twice already with the first time being july 15, 2017.

When driving the car at speeds 40mph and above, the car does not stay in the lane. This car is continuously pulling to the left out of the lane towards cars in the middle lane, with no control to correct, then pushed to the right out of lane, back and forth my whole ride with no subsiding.

When driving the electric power steering began to malfunction in short periods of driving, making it very hard to drive safely. Until a few weeks later the whole unit stopped working and the power steering light came on. This made it hard to steer in high and low speeds.

When you press on the accelerator and gain speed the car abruptly jerks to the right. I believe it’s caused by a defect of the traction control system.

Steering wheel assembly cracked and also the left side of the steering wheel piece broke. Very expensive to fix and wasn’t offered a car to use. Order for this assembly is on back order!!!!

When driving on highway at about 60 MPH car feels very out of control like if its on roller skates, feels like car is going to sway this way or that way. Very unsafe feeling. Very scary.

The drivers side inner tie rod came out of the outer tie rod causing the wheel to separate from the linkage. This happened while I was driving locally around 30 MPH on a straightroad. The car has 45,000 miles.

It started off with the 'ps' light turning on and the power steering completely turning off. This car has an electric power steering and I am glad I was in a parking lot. Googling the problem you get many stories of the power steering failing on this model.

Power steering light comes on and power steering is lost making it hard to turn wheel. This has happened while turning the wheel all the way with the vehicle in motion luckily at low speed. It has been on the shop and they said everything looked fine.

Car has no stability on the road, it almost feels like im in a windstorm, and in a rainstorm if I hit standing water it will throw me into the other lane. It is worse on the freeway and will push me near the other lane.

Acceration of the car hesitates ; car jerks and have cut off while driving. Put higher octane of gas in car and still having same problem.

The car's power steering stopped functioning, a ps indication on the dash was illuminated. The vehicle was very difficult to drive in this condition. This is the second time this has occurred.
