NHTSA Campaign: 25V153000

Component: SEATS

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2025 Sentra vehicles. The driver's seat frame may not be fully secured to the outer side of the seat track. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 207, "Seating Systems," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Risk: An unsecured driver's seat may not adequately restrain the driver during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the driver's side lower seat frame assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 1, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PMA45.

Seat Belts2 issues

Filed: Feb 2026

Your rear seat belt warning system is malfunctioning — it triggers alarms even when passengers have fastened their belts, and won't stop alarming until all seat belt buckles are clicked, regardless of occupancy. This has persisted through three dealer repair attempts, leaving you uncertain whether the rear seat belts will actually protect passengers in a crash. The issue likely requires the seat belt sensor system or wiring harness to be diagnosed and repaired or replaced.

Filed: Nov 2025

Your rear seatbelt system is triggering false alarms even when passengers are properly buckled in. The alarm sounds within two minutes after someone unbuckles and exits the vehicle, or when they re-enter and buckle up. Your car is missing rear seat weight sensors that would normally prevent these false warnings, so the dealership is replacing the rear seatbelts with ones that have proper sensors.

Tires2 issues
criticalTIRES
Filed: Aug 2025

Your new Sentra experiences severe wobbling and feels unstable when driving on grooved highway concrete roads, especially at higher speeds. The dealership confirmed the issue is with the Michelin Primacy A/S tires (size 215/50 R17) and not the vehicle itself. The tire tread pattern appears to catch in the road grooves, causing uncontrollable side-to-side movement that forces you to slow down significantly. Replacing the tires with a different brand or tread pattern may resolve this handling issue.

Your 2025 Nissan Sentra came with Firestone FT140 tires that developed a noticeable vibration in the rear, starting slightly around 5,600 miles and becoming much worse above 50 mph after highway driving. A tire shop confirmed both rear tires are out of round (warped), but neither the tire shop, Firestone customer service, nor local dealers could help you get replacement tires or warranty coverage.

Power Train,electrical System,engine2 issues

Filed: Mar 2026

Your car's battery keeps dying and won't hold a charge, even after the dealership inspected it. You're experiencing repeated dead batteries requiring jump starts multiple times daily since August 2025, and sometimes the engine shuts off while driving. Your dashboard shows system malfunction warnings, a blinking check engine light, and battery warning light. The dealer will likely need to test the charging system, alternator, and battery to find what's draining power.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your 2025 Sentra experienced engine and electrical system failures at low mileage, requiring replacement of the engine wiring harness and removal of the engine and transaxle assembly. A Malfunction Indicator Light appeared warning of engine and emissions problems, and the manufacturer's repair used recycled powertrain components. These major repairs on a nearly new vehicle raise concerns about reliability and the risk of reduced engine power or further system failures during operation.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your 2025 Nissan Sentra is subject to an open safety recall affecting the door striker (the mechanism that holds your door closed). Nissan has confirmed that repair parts were unavailable for an extended period, and when parts were finally located in February 2026, the wrong part was sent, preventing the repair from being completed. Your vehicle remains unrepaired with no confirmed repair date provided. The fix will involve replacing the door striker mechanism once the correct part becomes available.

Your 2025 Nissan Sentra's rear window shattered while the car was parked in your driveway with no visible cause. Police investigated and found no evidence of impact from rocks, birds, projectiles, or other objects. The window appears to have spontaneously failed, and Nissan's warranty does not cover this damage.

CrashFiled: Sep 2025

While driving on the interstate, your tire suddenly blew out, causing your car to spin. You were able to safely pull over, but when you inspected the wheel, you discovered the rim was completely cracked and broken in half—without hitting anything. This incident resulted in a crash situation.

Power Train,engine,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Jul 2025

Your engine is shutting down completely and without warning while driving in traffic, causing a total loss of power — this has happened about five times in less than a month. When this happens, your dashboard goes black and you can't use the hazard lights to warn other drivers, and you're unable to shift into neutral to move the car safely out of traffic. Your dealership has been unable to identify or fix the cause even after multiple visits and diagnostic scans.

CrashFiled: Mar 2025

Your car hydroplanes in heavy rain and the tires don't grip well on wet roads. The door locks sometimes fail to unlock and prevent you from opening the doors. The forward and rear collision warning systems don't work reliably—you were rear-ended without receiving any alert, and the front collision warning only works intermittently. These issues may require inspection of the tire tread and condition, electrical testing of the door lock mechanisms, and diagnostic scanning of the collision avoidance system software.

You rented a 2025 Nissan Sentra that had open safety recalls, which you discovered and reported to the rental company the next day. The company denied the recalls existed, refused to exchange or refund your rental, and kept all charges ($1,212 including insurance, tolls, and a $50 gas fee) despite the vehicle having unresolved safety issues.

The adhesive holding three of your rear parking sensors failed, causing the sensor brackets to fall inside the bumper. This is triggering the parking sensor to activate constantly when you reverse, and it's also engaging the automatic braking system unexpectedly. The fix will likely involve replacing the failed adhesive and reinstalling the sensor brackets, or replacing the sensors entirely.

Filed: Oct 2025

While braking, your foot slipped off the brake pedal onto the accelerator because the brake and accelerator pedals are positioned too close together. Your dealer confirmed the pedal spacing is inadequate and performed a partial repair. The fix likely involves adjusting the pedal positioning or spacing to prevent accidental pedal overlap during normal braking.

Filed: Sep 2025

Your Nissan Sentra lost engine power while driving and displayed a 'Shift to Park' message, with the check engine light coming on. After cooling down, the engine restarted, but this problem happened multiple times. Two dealers identified that the grille shutter needs replacement, though only the warning light was reset and the part was never actually replaced. The fix will require replacing the grille shutter component to restore proper engine cooling and power delivery.

Your car's start-stop idle system is showing a fault code and won't operate properly. Your brakes shake when braking even after you replaced the rotors and pads because the new rotors may be warped. Additionally, your door locks won't unlock when you press the unlock button. You may need to have the rotors checked for proper installation and alignment, the start-stop system diagnosed with a scanner, and the door lock actuators inspected.
