I HAVE EXPERIENCED UNUSUAL ENGINE NOISES, ROUGH ENGINE PERFORMANCE, ILLUMINATION OF THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL), AND WARNING MESSAGES DISPLAYED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE ENGINE HAS FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER TWICE, ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY. I have been to the dealership mechanic 3 times with this issue, the first occurred prior to the recall coming out. The Last time I was told to pay for a diagnostic or they would not be able to help me; I paid and was told they could not find anything relevant to my issue. I was just told that there was no further information occurring from this recall. I feel as if the car is almost undrivable. It is definitely unsafe and unreliable. And a car constantly revs at 6000 RPM's prior to switching gears if it switches gears. At this point I don't know what to do and regret buying a Nissan as they won't even help.
I took my Rogue to the dealership at City Limits Nissan on Monday 10/6/25 as it had power issues and the engine light came on stating 'Engine Malfunction Power reduce Service now' I then called NHTSA and filed a complaint about a recall for my Nissan Rogue that Nissan has yet to have a remedy. I got the car back on Tuesday afternoon 10/7/25 and they said it did not have to do with the recall. I drove the car straight home. I went to work the next morning and as I was pulling into a parking spot in parking garage, all of the sudden, I was crashed into the wall at a high rate of speed. I am extremely concerned that this may have been a malfunction with the Nissan Rogue as this occurred less then 24 hours after it was serviced. My car was totaled and the damage looks like it hit at 30 mph or more which is extremely alarming as I was slowing coming into the parking spot. I don't know exactly what happened however if there have been any issues with Nissans and sudden acceleration, I feel this needs to be investigated. My Rogue is a 2022 and had to have the engine replaced in early 2024. Nissan could not give any explanation as to why. My car has been taken to a salvage yard and I am concerned that if there was and issue, any evidence of an issued could be destroyed. Had there not been heavy duty cables, I could have gone further through the parking garage wall and fallen 3 stories.
3/25/2023 784 miles and 12 days after purchasing the vehicle The throttle got stuck, cruise was on but not activated, was going 100mgh, hit the brakes, slowed the speed, every time I took my foot off the brake, I was doing 90-100mph. I hit the brakes 5-7 times to try to cancel the cruise even though it was was set. It said "Activate" so it was not on. Then after hitting the brakes repeatedly, I heard a loud kerplunk (metal on metal) sound in the engine behind the brake pedal, and it shut off and drove normally afterwards. 3/30/2023 I accelerated to get on I35 and RPM stuck at 3200 and would not shift in sport mode; I changed to Standard mode and the RPMs dropped to 2000-2100; the engine revved up loud in sport mode. Female Service Manager from Burleson Nissan was in the car at the time of the event. This has happened 3 more times since owning this vehicle. At the advice of my lemon law attorney, I am reporting them separately.
I have had my car in the service center 5 times for the same reason they tell me it is fixed but the problem keeps happening. I have tried to be cooperative . the car has been in the shop on and off since the 18 of July at one point they had it almost a month. This last time they gave it back to me said it was fixed. This is why i'm writing to you I had the car a week and I was driving on interstate 65 I was in the middle lane doing 70 MPH with a tractortrailer on each side of me starting up a long hill with another truck coming up behind me, when my car dropped down to 40 MPH since I knew what was happening I put on my emergency flashers, thank God the truck driver behind me was paying attention because he was coming up behind me pretty fast because of the hill He slowed down and moved over to block the slow lane so I could get over I had my 2 granddaughters in the car with me, and things could have been very bad if the trucker behind me had not been paying attention My Granddaughters and I could have been killed. Now I am afraid to drive the car the dealership told me to Call Nissan hot line and tell them what happened Nissan said they had something else to fix and my car would be fine, well now I'm afraid to drive the car and Nissan said they didn't have to do anything else to help me. I put 20,000.00 down on this car so I could keep my payments down. and now I'm stuck with a car I'm afraid to drive. am a [XXX] Grandmother trying to take care of my 3 Grandchildren on a fixed income I have 1 in collage 1 who works but doesn't drive and 1 in high school . I have to have a car I can depend on .I'm sorry to go on and on but please tell me if there is anything I can do. I don't have the repair papers at this time they are in the car and it is in the shop again INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On 6/27/22 we were driving roughly 35 mph and all of the sudden the warning light Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service now warning light came on and the car immediately slowed to 20 mph with no warning. It was a Sunday so we couldn’t take it to the dealership that day. We turned the car off and in about 20 minutes turned it back on and the warning light had cleared. We took it to the dealership the next day. Since the car only had 14,912 miles assumed the warranty would cover. They didn’t find anything but still charged us $168.53. Then on 8/30 it happened again while backing up. Called Nissan and they instructed me to turn it off and back on. I did but it still had the warning light and reduced speed. I was roughly 30 miles from the dealership and they wanted me to drive it in. I told them that wasn’t safe. They said at my expense have it towed. After the car was turned off awhile it cleared and went back to normal. I took the car in the next day. Again they said they couldn’t recreate the issue and had no solution. They indicated Nissan knew there was an issue but didn’t have a fix yet. They said it might mean a new engine. I filed a complaint with Nissan asking for them to buyback the car because I felt it wasn’t safe. They denied it. If at some point you are driving 70 mph on a 4 lane interstate in busy traffic and it happens and the speed reduces from 70 to 20 with no brake light coming on or warning to the driver. It could be catastrophic. On various complaint sites you can see that this is a large issue for Nissan.
While driving in traffic I proceeded to give the car gas to move 2 car lengths forward but the car jerked back and then accelerated on its own. I applied pressure to the brake and as the came up off it the car accelerated again. I swerved off the highway and once in park the car continued to have high rpm of 3.5 while in park. Keep in mind i had been driving the car for over an hour so it wasn’t cold. After the vehicle was towed to the dealer, the tow truck driver experienced the same thing with high RPM.
