2018 Nissan Rogue Other Problems

The backup camera picture/screen has randomly cut out while backing up putting myself and whatever is behind me at risk for collision. In the section where it asks for the date, it's happens randomly since I bought it. Whenever I've taken it to my mechanic they have not been able to reproduce it.

It has happened where I am driving on the highway with big vehicle's are next to me and it will brake and take me from 65 miles per hour down to 30 MPH quickly . I always hope that no one is in back of me I fear that I will get in a accident for no reason . Please put a recall on this system !

We have had a gas smell in our garage, outside the car and inside the cabin and inside our house since 2022 and the service technician confirmed it but said I'd have to pay $160 for them to diagnose it plus parts and labor to fix it. There are lots of "Nissan Rogue gas smell in cabin" complaints AND there is a class action lawsuit filed on the 2020-2023 models.

I purchased this vehicle from carmax in November. I didn't even have it for a month and there quite a few things wrong. When I took it back to the dealership they "couldn't recreate the problem" but wouldn't Give me Back my car.

On Friday April 21, 2023 I was operating my vehicle with my toddler inside going about 30 miles per hour when suddenly out of no where with No Warning my vehicle beeped rapidly 5 times and as it was beeping it intensely braked itself and/or slowed down immediately while at a speed of about 30 miles per hour.

The component is the backup camera. The backup camera engages, but the camera image freezes momentarily after engaging. The freeze happens for around 1-2 seconds.

Panoramic sunroof exploded while driving. There was a very load pop when the closed sunroof exploded apart. Pulled over called police, there is a police record of incident.

Automatic opener for the automatic hatch back. I opened it I was reaching for something in to take something out when the hatch came down onto me. It rested on my back and did not go up.

Driving on a state highway in a metropolitan area, the sun roof suddenly exploded. It was moderate weather for december in the st. Louis, mo area (I'm guessing in the 40's).

As I was driving to work, the stationary portion of the panoramic sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered. It sounded like a gunshot and there was a hole in the center of the sunroof. I was not near any other vehicles and nothing struck the car.

Emergency braking system is breaking by itself specifically on highway speeds consistently after ~1 hour into a trip. First, brought the vehicle to be fixed around two months ago after multiple breaking attempts at highway speeds. Almost caused a crash because my car started break checking people behind me.

My rogue has been brought in 4 times for safety issues. I have contacted nissan and not getting anywhere. All my sensor lights came on and ABS.

I was driving down the street one day no one around me, no object, was not on auto control, and my car automatically brakes on its own while driving. Had it done that while it was a busy road it would of caused an accident.

The back up camera freezes up when backing. Bought it new may 5, 2018. Nissan corp told me the have no fix for it.

While driving; a bug or some small object?? Hitting the anti collision sensor will activate the brakes without warning usually when driving over 30 MPH this has happened at least a dozen times at no set pattern

Going up a ramp in the parking garage, the automatic emergency braking engaged with no obstruction, causing my vehicle to suddenly stop. Car behind me did not expect sudden stop and rear ended me.

My nissan rogue 2018 has an issue with the forward collision avoidance. I started experiencing this problem as soon as I bought it in march 2018. The first time it happened was on a normal road, I was driving at about 40mph and just crossing an intersection the car emitted few beeps and slowed down for about 3 seconds and then went back to normal speed.

I purchased a new 2018 rouge 12/17/18 with 57 miles on the odemeter. On the way home the breaks engaged for no apparent reason on the highway. The next morning the breaks engaged several times for no reason and a breaking malfunction warning came on.

Vehicle was being driven down the road at approximately 45 MPH by my wife with no other cars around and the moonroof just exploded. Luckily the inside cover was closed so glass did not get all over the car or hit my wife while she was driving.

Multiple occurrences of car tire pressure monitoring system warning light appearing on dash and it seemed the brakes were going on too, without being applied. But I didn't believe that could happen on its own. It happened one time on expressway but I thought I must have hit a pothole (car was pretty new then) and happened multiple times on surface streets.

My safety braking system engaged when there were no other cars around me. There was nothing on the roadway either. I was going 40 MPH on a straight level road in a suburban location.

The system automatic emergency breaking to avoid or lessen collisions activated yesterday while I was on interstate 64, to my knowledge, for no apparent reason. There was a tractor trailer in front of me, approx. 7 car lengths, and a car about 4 car lengths in front in the right lane.

The automatic emergency braking system incorrectly activated under a false-positive situation resulting in the brakes being applied while crossing over a bridge. Luckily, there wasn't a vehicle following me, or else there may have been a collision.

My Car will stop suddenly, and unpredictably at various times. The car will stop and sometimes shake as it acts like its stalling out and an emergency light flashes up briefly. This has almost caused us to be in multiple wrecks.

While driving on 3 separate occasions the automatic emergency break option that is on was activated on its own bringing my car to a stop without an emergency stop in front of me. On all three occasions I was in motion 2/3 times over 30mph. I was driving on a city street in el paso tx and on a military installation in corpus christi, tx.

Rear power lift gate on my 2018 Nissan Rogue will randomly close after being lifted. Happens at any time, whether the key fob, dash button or the button on the lift gate itself is used. The lift gate has hit my wife and I in the head multiple times causing minor injury.

UNKNOWN...Heater/Blend door on driver's side of the vehicle does not operate. I have had the step motor replaced 9 months ago and now the nylon nut in the heater box is stripped out and the blend door does not operate at all. In looking for repair options I have come across several other owners who also have this same common issue with this vehicle.

I was driving my car with the key fob in down right position and the car just shut off while driving and never started back up… took to the dealership they charged me $200 for a diagnosis test and than told me it was not the key but the machine can not read what’s wrong with the key

Crush warning light continues to flicker and car suddenly came to a stop when accelerating onto the freeway. It is struggling to accelerate and feels like I am pushing it too far anytime I try. The dealer replaced my transmission but it continues to have the same issues.

The HVAC air door bend plastic piece is stripped within. The door actuator has been replaced and did NOT fix the issue. The driver side only blows cold air as a result.

Reporting this car . Recall has been open since February and there has been no remedy with a reasonable time frame. I am not able to cover the cost of the car note because it has affected my source of income due to the recall being opened and not being fixed in a timely manner.

when I am waiting for someone to come out, I listen to music with key in on position and when I try to start the car it will not start. It makes a sound but won't turn over. I was told it was the battery, I had that replaced and it is still doing the same thing.

Water inside the "A" pillar, along the front rail and in floorboard. Seal of moonroof is sitting well. This can cause a safety concern if water enters while driving, creating a distraction.

The automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection light comes on while going down the road. One of the times that it came on it turned off cruise control and the vehicle started to slow way down and then it was like the brakes were being applied while we were on the Interstate surrounded by traffic.

The backup camera is freezing at random when I am backing up causing me to have to stop and put the vehicle in park and turn the vehicle off and back on to reset the backup camera to get it to unfreeze to get it to fully work again.

My backup camera would freeze about 2-3 seconds after putting in reverse. It didn't matter if I was still moving or stopped, it would freeze. It was happening every time I backed up.

While driving my car, highway or side streets, I get a number of different warning lights, all dealing with my tires and braking system. I took my car to the dealership, and was told there is a recall on the ABS. I check my car in for repairs, waited, left and supposing everything was back to normal just to get on the road the next day and get the exact same problem.

About 2 months after fixing a recall on the aeb system on my 2018 nissan rogue, my car's aeb system engaged while driving 75 MPH on the interstate causing my vehicle's antilock brakes to kick on and beep a warning to slow down because my car's sensor believed something was in front of me. There was nothing in front of me for miles and fortunately, no one was behind me to slam in to me.

While in motion (approximately 45-50 MPH) on a bridge approaching a highway my vehicle self-braked. I did not brake, the vehicle did. There was nothing close to me, in front, or behind me at the time.

Twice I have gotten this error (see attached photos) while merging onto interstate in march 2019 I only took photos the first time and once I have had the brakes automatically attempt to stop the car on a regular road in july 2019. I did contact the local nissan dealer and was told my car was not in the group to have repair.

Takata recall. I brought a brand new 2018 nissan rogue in april of 2018. My engine light came on and the car only has 9000 miles on it.

Takata recall: my front sensor goes off and 'beeps' at me when there's nothing in front of me, my back up camera freezes while in reverse and goes black, and my entire screen goes black occasionally. When my sensor goes off, it has done it while at 70 MPH while on the freeway and even force braked for me.

On 12-3-18 I purchased a 2018 rogue sv AWD from swope nissan in elizabethtown ky with 1 mile on the odometer. Five days later (12-8-18) the cd player overheated and stopped working. The cd became so hot that I had to use a silicone oven mitt to remove it!

Purchased rogue with 7 miles on it. On drive home, the radio/navigation display continuously reset itself until unit overheated and completely shut down. This repeated itself every day until brought it to dealership and they said it was probably due to a bad radio unit and will replace it.

On 2-3-18, I bought a new 2018 nissan rogue from ed hicks nissan in corpus christi, texas. This car had a hands free system that allowed calls to be made and answered without touching the phone. It worked when we bought the car.

Back up camera black out and on no volume with car play and radio not working. The it just stopped and with out warning will go out. Vehicle is available for inspection.

I received a u1002 can comm. code error. Indicating the ABS module has a problem.

The Blend Door Actuator is completely stripped causing the air that blows throughout the car and defrosts the dash. It is stuck on cold preventing window defrosting, in wintertime this is dangerous limitating visibility. Lots of cases with this.

My sun roof blew up/out as I was driving down the highway. Nothing hit it to my knowledge and there were no prior damage

I don't see a recall outstanding for the catalytic converter system but it says in 2020 there was a recall. My catalytic converter has gone bad. Makes we wonder if the work was ever really done?

Jack knife key solution is not conducive for consumers. And will eventually break and won't be covered by nissian.

The Trunk Automatically Closes after Opening. Doesnt stay in place. So many owners have reported this issue online at different forums.

Key fob is undetected even though key is in the vehicle and near the start button

Ignition Key does not turn on the vehicle. Key does not correspond with the vehicle to turn on or open door.

Driving on the highway I believe something hit my sunroof and it shattered

Using the info center to have hands free usage. The info center restarts periodically while driving. It doesn't appear to affect the drivability of the car, but if navigating using the info center it could cause a distraction for the driver if in an unknown area or place the driver in an unfamiliar/unsafe area.

Heater blows cold and will not defrost A/C blows warm and will not cool

The automatic brake employed even though there was no vehicles or objects in front. Only lets car speed up to about 60 MPH but still applying the emergency brake. Also transmission light is on.

Forward breaking light keeps coming on for no reason

Car just stopped automatically when coming slowly into the garage several red light blinked very fast ...I had never experienced this before

The back up camera is always freezing up, both while stationary or in motion

Driving about 50 MPH and the glass roof explodes. Luckily, the shade cover was closed, so the glass was contained inside it but also much of it flew off the back of the car.

Back up camera display went blank

Bought 2 months ago. Back up camera hard to see. Dark and orange dimly lit.

I had an issue a couple times since owning the vehicle (pre software update due to recall) where you would put the vehicle in reverse and the backup camera would come up and you start reversing only to realize that the video from the back up camera is in fact frozen. The recall was issued last fall which I thought was to address this issue.

Over the last few weeks I noticed my back up camera freezing up, yesterday as I was backing up the screen went completely blank. So I placed in park, turned the car off and went to push start, I rececived a no key detected error, tried again and it started up just fine and the screen was back to working again

Maintenance-'other' light comes on after starting auto. Service tech 'disconnected' warning without detecting what warning was about. Auto was in for regular service.

On two separate occasions (7/5/2019 & 7/15/2019) the car engaged its automatic emergency braking system (alerted and braked to a stop suddenly) while in motion for no apparent reason. Ice shield build inside all windows. The ice shield was so thick that it took an scraper to break it down. I was impossible to drive this vehicle.

The lift gate for my 2018 nissan rogue does not stop coming down when you hit the close button. It will crush you! It does not stop no matter what!

On three different occasions my car has beeped like someone was in the way one of those occasions breaking pretty abruptly with no vehicles around as a cop went by and I was downtown at night I explained this to the service at chico nissan and was told one other customer had complained but it's just a signal being sent out and there's nothing they can do I don't feel like this is a very safe feature if it's going to slam my brakes on when no one's in front of me especially because someone may be behind me and not expecting my car to abruptly stopped for no good reason

Navigation / radio reboots while driving requiring reprogramming.

Brand new 2018 nissan rogue that has around 2,000 miles on the car: automatic emergency braking system engaged when driving straight down a country road where no other car was present. An audible warning sounded and the vehicle slowed down on its own. Since the incident, an error light for the automatic emergency braking system flashes on the dashboard with an audible warning, then disappears.
