2018 Nissan Rogue Brakes Problems

Since I purchased my car in September of 2022, a 2018 Nissan Rogue SL AWD, whenever I drive down to Houston, TX, my AEB symbol (2 cars crashing symbol) flashes. This is consistent with me going to Houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout North TX, and to Louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the AEB sensor light.

While driving, the front collision warning activated, immediately followed by the automatic emergency brake system activating. This made my car break suddenly, attempting to stop in the middle of traffic without warning. There was nothing in front of me that could have activated the systems.

My car is breaking on its own. I have a malfuction warning on the dash. I took the car to the dealership and they reprogrammed it the first time in December of 2021.

I was driving about 20mph or less on a street, there was no one in front or back of me luckily. But all of sudden my sensors started blinking my car started to break on its own like wheels starting to lock the sensors blinked so fast I couldn't see what it was as I was watching road to make sure no one is around. It did it a few seconds and I was able to press on gas pedal and keep driving.

Since I bought the car numerous times(over 50) the car stops or the brakes activate automatically for no apparent reason. Three times my daughter came extremely close to getting into a major accident being that the car behind literally touched the back bumper. I’m afraid of letting my daughter drive it as the car was bought for her, as I’m afraid she’ll get into an accident.

Automatic emergency braking engaged with no warning, slamming in the brakes with no obstacle around. I was driving to work and the car slammed on the brakes and flashed a warning light, there were no other cars or anything around luckily. It would have caused a accident if someone were behind me.

I was driving 50mph in a 50mph zone and the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated emergency braking, bringing vehicle to an immediate halt in a lane of traffic. Conditions were wet from earlier rainfall; however, no hazards or vehicles were immediately in front of me. This activation tugged on my seatbelt and chest and collarbone resulting in pain while the vehicle lunged me forward.

Every time I drive the vehicle, a "Malfunction" warning appears after several beeps. It displays a collision icon, and states "See Owner's Manual". However, this does not appear in the owner's manual.

The emergency brake turns on automatically while driving, it pulls the car, so you can't drive. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident. It can be a life and death situation because the car just slows down automatically without you touching anything.

In sum, on 7/22/2020, my vehicle was traveling approximately 55mph southbound Interstate 90/94 at Harrison when the forward collision warning activated, and emergency braking occurred. Vehicle speed was reduced to 25mph for several seconds, then alert disengaged.

While driving at speeds between 30-40 miles per hour my 2018 Nissan Rogue suddenly brakes with no warning. I did not touch the brakes and there was no other vehicle in front or behind me. These incidents really scared me.

My 2018 nissan rogue has had the auto brakes (aeb) kick in and cause my car to come to a complete stop on multiple different occasions when there was no hazard, car or pedestrians in the road. It has happened on at least five separate occasions and the last three times I was barely able to avoid being rear ended.

Just bought 2018 nissan rogue. While driving at speed of 35 MPH , suddenly forward collision warning started flashing and automatic brakes went on . There was no other car in front .

While driving the ABS randomly brakes and a malfunction warning comes on while on the highway which can cause an accident nissan will not fix it without charging 1300 dollars when there is a class action low suit on this issue. You can disable the feature but a malfunction warning still comes and beeps loudly.

Since purchasing this vehicle used in dec 2019 there has been many occasions of the forward alert for collision activating and there was no other cars near the front of the vehicle, it flashes on the dash so quickly and goes off before we can see what it's saying.there has also been many occasions of the automatic breaking activating and auto breaking while driving at various speeds including on the interstate and leaving the interstate onto off ramps as well as normal city driving.

The front crash light started flashing out of the blue and then the car slammed on the brakes and brought it to a complete stop and it was a completely clear night with no traffic around me. There was zero reason for it to do that! I was going almost 70 MPH on a country road and there was not an animal or another car anywhere in sight.

The breaking system on my 2018 nissan rogue driving 50mph slammed on the breaks and caused my car to stop without warning, a red light came on and I was whipped forward. There was no traffic in front of me and 2 cars behind that would have hit me as I was able to get off side of road. This would have been a fatal accident.

I was just leaving my job, and driving down a local, double yellow-lined road, doing about 35-40 MPH, when my 2018 nissan rogue's automatic breaking system suddenly, and aggressively engaged, causing the entire vehicle to shudder, and make a horrible noise, along with flashing orange, triangle warning light.

I was driving my car on the sunken meadows parkway with my nephew in the back seat. There was no cars in front of me or other objects. Our of nowhere, the automatic braking system in the car went off with warning lights and the car came to a complete stop.

While traveling at 35 MPH on a city street the crash avoidance system started beeping, the dash displayed warning icon and the vehicle braking system engaged with no obstruction anywhere near the front of the vehicle. Engagement was brief < 2 seconds and tapping the brake pedal cleared issue.

At random times the 'automatic emergency braking' system automatically slams on brakes. The vehicle was being driven at about 35-40 MPH on a city/county road. We were driving straight, it was dark with no street lights and no other cars or objects on the road.

On the street we use to leave our neighborhood, there is one section of the cement that is a little taller than the one before it.intermittently, the automatic breaking will be set off in this spot for no reason. It is alarming! We are also worried it will happen on a busy street and cause an accident.

The automatic emergency braking (aeb) system malfunctioned, causing a sudden and abrupt stop for no reason. The vehicle was in motion on a paved secondary street in a line of vehicles in an area undergoing road repair in the opposite lane. We were the first vehicle in line moving straight ahead at approximately 5 MPH.

On four separate occasions while driving especally when in an intersection the self braking system engages and I have had near rear end collisions. One was while going through a green light and today it happend when going over a set of rail road tracks at approx 25 MPH. The truck behind me nearly hit me.

Nissan rouge 2018 automatic braking gets activated without any reason. I would have ended up with an accident multiple times but luckily nothing happened. 10/19/2019 was worst it stopped in middle of highway.

I am having a lot of problems with my emergency breaks. Most times, it breaks when there is no vehicle in front of me or behind. It is really dangerous because I almost had an accident twice.

On the date listed below, 7/2/2019, and two other times after, the brakes randomly and suddenly activated. The first time was at normal speed, 30-35 MPH on a city street. The second was at low speed in a parking garage.

Car stops suddenly for no reason! Almost killed us at least four times! Told nissan said they fixed the software update !

I have been experiencing issues with my safety features. The car will automatically brake when going down a steep hill. Sometimes the sensor will go off on a straight road with no one in front of me.

Vehicle is experiencing a random and repetitive engagement of the aeb system with no apparent reason for activation. In some instances, it is merely a warning and others a full hard braking. The problem first occurred during initial day of ownership on march 13, 2018.

While driving yesterday, my vehicle came to a screeching stop with any warning. There were no other cars on the road near me, no debris, nothing which should have caused this. I was able to quickly get to the breakdown lane and breathe while trying to understand what just happened.

This is the second complaint on this problem but the first after the car was worked on at the dealer. After approximately 50-55 minutes of continuous operation the emergency brakes activated as part of the collision avoidance feature. There was no danger of impact and speed was about 20-30mph on a city street.

When driving the car the aeb system will suddenly engage and force the car to brake. It happens mostly in parking garages but just happened when my daughter was driving on a busy interstate (I-684) and she almost go into a major accident. I brought the car into nissan for the software update that was suggested by nissan.

As I was driving back to home in orange county, ca, on 6/27/2019 at around 8 p.m., I opened the garage door a couple of garage-doors down and as I was slowing the car down to turn and enter the garage, the brakes did not work, and the car sped up instead. I turned the steering wheel to the right to brake the speed of the car and to avoid a head-on collision with the garage's front wall.

My 2018 nissan rogue activates the automatic emergency braking ( aeb) on it's own. It has occurred five or six times, twice while crossing rr tracks. One of these instances happened while traveling at approximately 35 MPH and the dodge truck behind us very near rear ended us.

Whilst taking my wife to work driving on a local road. At 45 MPH the vehicle makes 3 beeps and then a grinding sound the vehicle then suddenly slows as if to apply the brakes when detecting an imminent crash.

I was driving and the automatic braking system that is supposed to stop you if going to crash decided to go kick int with nothing in front of me while driving on a normal road no cars and no obstructions, we were almost hit from the back but the car was able to swerve and didn't hit us. This happened a total of 3 times.

While in motion at 10 MPH, with no obstruction anywhere around my car, the automatic emergency breaks deployed for a couple of seconds and it significantly slowed my car down. This happened 3 times already on a street. I am afraid that it might happen on the freeway and that I will be rear-ended.

I brought it to the dealership, they said they updated the software and it should be fixed.

The car has an automatic braking system which engages if it senses an impending accident, it shows a warning and then takes control of the car and brakes if you do not. The is extremely dangerous as it malfunctions and engages when there is no threat. There are several complaints of the same senerio, nissan has actknowleged that there is an issue - but has no fix for the sensor issue.

The aeb (automatic emergency breaking) system on our 2018 nissan rogue malfunctioned, stopping our car on the roadway for no apparent reason. There was absolutely no traffic anywhere near our vehicle which was traveling straight on a 4 lane road at approx 40 MPH when suddenly the vehicle made a loud groan sound, started shaking, brakes activated, light flashed on display panel and beeping sounds.

On oct 24th I was on my way to drive my autistic son to his day program which is less then a mile away. As I was driving the emergency brake came on and pulling me to a stop, then I proceeded to pull over after being shaken up along with my son. Then continue to try again.

In consistent braking. When applying the brakes the pedal feels mushy and the braking poor. I waiting about 300 miles hoping that the brakes would bed in and start to work correctly but it did not happen.

I was driving around 11am using local roads. I had been driving about 5 minutes when I pulled up to a stop sign. It was a clear day, light traffic, dry pavement, no leaves or other road debris.

The forward collision avoidance (fca) / automatic emergency braking system inadvertently activated resulting the brakes being abruptly applied while driving forward on a neighborhood thoroughfare at 40 MPH and nothing in front of me.. There was a vehicle following me which had to swerve around me or else there would have been a rear collision.

My safety braking system suddenly engaged for no apparent reason. I was driving 40 MPH on a straight, level suburban street that was newly paved within the last year. There were no other vehicles around and there were no obstructions in the roadway.

Emergency stop was activated abruptly while driving on highway no vehicles were in front of my when this happened the vehicle behind almost rear ended me. I took my rogue to nissan las week for braking system failure. Apparently it was a cylinder assy-br.

At least 6 times the automatic emergency braking has engaged when there was no vehicle or obstacle in front of the car.in each of these incidents the warning light flashed briefly, there was a beep ,the brakes engaged and there was a grinding sound, but the car never stopped.

2018 nissan rogue sv purchased early march 2018. Currently has less than 1,700 miles on it. Three times in less than three weeks, the automatic braking system has engaged while driving down a major roadway.

The emergency braking engages without reason. This has LED to 2 near misses. Once the car just stopped in the road.

On april 11, 2018, I was driving my brand new 2018 nissan rogue. I had just gotten off the highway, and was driving straight along a city street when suddenly the brakes slammed on, thrusting me forward and giving me a near heart attack. I could have been killed or seriously injured, had this happened under different circumstances.

On several occasions, my car has slammed on breaks on its on. There is a warning message that appears saying either there is a malfunction or the front radar has malfunctioned. Then the car will just stall or break on its own with a screeching sound.

On June 10, 2021, I was driving my vehicle preparing to merge on the interstate to go home when all of a sudden the AEB Warning light activates and I cannot not safely drive my vehicle. My vehicle speed would not increase above 3mph. I had the vehicle towed to my home.

I purchased this car brand new. 2 weeks later I was diving on the freeway and the park brake system light went and bam the brakes hit. Scared the crap out of me.

The automatic emergency brake keeps coming on while driving. I have been on roads where I am the only car and it has happened and most recently on the highway with cars speeding behind me almost hitting me. There are no obstructions or cars in front of me when this is happening.

Four times our 2018 nissan rogue has activated the emergency braking system, when slowing down. At one time ,with my wife driving the engine died on a railroad tracks. Engine restarted but was scary.

The first time I was just pulling out of my driveway and my car, made this grinding noise and forced to stop and the braking system light came on. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.

The brakes suddenly started acting funny and the car feels unsafe when braking. The brake shave been checked by two different brake shops and they claim the pads, etc. The problem started when multiple warning lights suddenly went off on our dashboard.

The emergency braking system on several occasions has beeped as though it was going to engage when no vehicles we’re around and on at least 3 occasions it has engaged when no vehicles were around. I brought it to the dealership to “update” the system, but the problem still occurs.

I was going to work on pa turnpike was driving 70 MPH 6:30 am there was nothing in front of me the automatic emergency braking system stoped my car for no reason thank God no one behind me like tractor trailer or I would have been killed I know there are problems with this system this wasn't the first time like the third time it happened also my warning light came on said obstructed don't know but was not safe they need to recall this and find a solution how many of these automatic emergency braking system stoped other's it is very unsafe when your on a highways or any road

Driving 40 MPH down a city street in virginia beach approaching an overpass, no cars were around me and the aeb activated which started slowing my vehicle down aggressively and made a loud grinding noise until I cleared the overpass.

I bought the vehicle 5 months ago, when I am driving past 40 minutes it will brake for no reason even when nothing is in front of me. I took it to awesome nissan in brunswick, ga they said they fixed the recalls.

I bought a used, 1 year old, 2018 nissan rogue, at a florida honda dealership in march of 2019. Since I have owned this vehicle it has slammed on the breaks several times, while driving anywhere from 50-80 MPH, for no apparent reason. Just in the last week it has slammed on the breaks 2x for no reason.

Faulty aeb. Warning flashes on dashboard constantly. Sensor has been replaced twice and problem still persists.

Automatic front braking (afb) system continues to inappropriately engage even after recall updates were completed at a nissan dealership. When driving the car will, without justification (ie there are no obsticals in front of car) automatically apply the breaks. After the update it happened to me while driving in the rain, my toddler was in the car, luckily I did not lose control of the car.

My vehicle's emergency braking system activates while driving when there are no other cars in front of my vehicle. The warning sound will alarm and then the brakes are applied at full force, which causes the vehicle to come to a screeching halt. I have taken my vehicle to the dealership three times (part was replaced once, system has been reprogrammed twice), and the issue is still ongoing.

Driving down a road thank god no vehicles behind, going approx 25-30 and all of a sudden within 10 seconds I got a yellow warning, then immediately red warning light that completely stop my vechile to a dead stop . Then I put the gas on it was ruff and then it was ok to drive the car. Myself and 3 others were injuried like we hit a wall.

When driving down a public road in our city, there was no car in front of my vehicle or near me, and the emergency auto breaking system went off and my car immediately started dangerously breaking and the warning lights were going off. Luckily there was a turn and I turned so as not be hit from behind.

False activation of the 2018 nissan rogue automatic emergency braking system. Brake alert often goes on for no reason causing concern when driving. This happens on a ~weekly basis and often happens several times during one trip.

I purchased the 2018 rogue april 27, 2019. On june 24, 2019 as I approached a green traffic light, warning lights and alarms went off in the car. I could not figure out why as there were no obstructions, the suddenly the car came to a screeching stop.

Aeb randomly engages when there is no reason to. No other vehicles in front of vehicle. Vehicle has had this occur as slow as 25mph on local roadways and on freeways going 45mph.

The vehicle front emergency braking activates when not required creating a clear and eminent danger to the driver, passenger and any vehicles in the vicinity. The nissan dealership updated the software on 7/25/2019 but it is still occuring as of 7/29/2019. This even occurs at highway speed, with no obstructions and clear visibility.

The automatic emergency braking system engaged on july 6 2108. There was not an obstruction in the road on this city street. While driving straight down the road, the car made a noise, the dashboard flashed, the car shuddered and came to a very quick, almost immediate stop.

For some time, vehicle has been displaying warning lights, beeping, and braking when no obstacles, while in motion, are around because of the automatic emergency braking system malfunction. I took the vehicle to the dealership a month ago to have the update performed based on information received in the mail.

The emergency braking system is engaging, causing the car to slow down unexpectedly. I hear three beeps, then a drop down menu appears on the computer screen with a triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it. Immediately after, I hear a grinding noise and the car slows down.

In october 2018, I was driving my nissan rogue with the cruise control (propilot) activated. Suddenly and unexpectedly, with no vehicle in front of me, my vehicle applied the brakes for a brief period - maybe one second - not long enough to make it skid. I took my vehicle to the local nissan dealer, and they applied software update ntb18-041a.to reprogram the radar sensor.

During normal driving , dry roads, in both daylight and night driving emergency braking activated and there was no object in front of vehicle. It has happened several times and events also occurred after vehicle was returned to the dealer for a "software update."

While driving at a constant speed on a straight road with clear weather and no other cars around, the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system activated and abruptly brought the car to a complete stop. This has happened 3 times since we leased the car in october 2018. The first time was with 300 miles on the odometer.

While driving 55mph brake system activated without reason, clear dry paved road without traffic or obstructions. Hard braking by system for maybe 30 MPH drop in speed then returned to normal. Driver and passenger were shook up.

Automatic emergency braking system on my vehicle initiates when not needed intermittently. No vehicles, objects, items, curbs, etc in vicinity or in front of vehicle. Took vehicle to dealership for voluntary aeb update, per notice from nissan, and due to it not being 'active' code, update could not be performed.

Automatic emergency brake activates (slams on brakes accompanied by visual and audible warning) with no vehicle or obstruction in lane ahead. Vehicle was moving on a city street. I've had the vehicle 3 months and it has happened 4 times so far.

When the engine is started cold. Sitting for 6 hours or more. There is a rattling sound coming from the engine as if there were too much engine bearing clearance.

While accelerating on a county street, at almost 40 MPH, my car decided to suddenly brake and almost immediately stop. It vibrated and we heard a loud grinding type noise. I removed my foot from accelerator, and after just a second, the braking stopped and I was able to accelerate again.

Auto emergency braking is activating when there is no vehicle or obstacle in front of me. It happenend the first time I left the dealer on an open highway. It happened again in a dark parking garage, and again when I was going less than 10 miles an hour over railroad tracks.

My 2018 nissan rogue braked suddenly, for no reason. Traveling 30 MPH on a quiet neighborhood street. The lights on the dashboard flashed briefly, there was a loud grinding noise, then sudden and complete stop in the middle of the road.

Two week old nissan rogue. The emergency braking system activates in the parking garage where I work. It seems to happen anywhere in the garage (any floor) and when I surpass ~15mph.

The problem began in my 2017 nissan maxima. I told the dealership that the emergency automatic braking system initiated while no other cars were around. They traded me in to the 2018 nissan rogue and the same issue has occurred 3 times in this vehicle.

We made a purchase of brand new nissan rogue sv yesterday 06/24/2018. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to bring our brand new vehicle at home today as we got malfunction warnings 2 times with sudden automatic brakes by that vehicle's automatic breaking system(ABS)and loud malfunction warning noise within in 4 miles of driving from nissan dealership.

Three times the automatic braking system has engaged when there was no vehicle other obstacle near or in the car's path. All three times, the warning light flashed, there was a beep, and the brake's engaged and there was a grinding sound and the car pulled to the right. First two times it occurred as I was driving up a ramp in a parking garage.

Since my purchase of my Rogue 2.5 years ago, it has randomly given a warning and braked out of nowhere. With no cars around, in front or behind, it was alarming. Since purchasing the car, this issue has occured, at least 15-20 random times, with the scariest being on the interstate.

The AEB Braking malfunction light keeps coming on, I shut it off but it comes back on. I’m afraid it will do an emergency stop and cause the vehicle behind will hit me. No recall has been done by Nissan.

Sudden braking while driving, with no reason or cause. No objects or vehicles in front to cause it to happen. It has occurred multiple times without warnings, putting my family and I in jeopardy.

Was driving down the road and the AEB light came on. There was no reason for the sensor to go off. After about a minute, the alert came on my dash saying there was a malfunction.

As you are driving down the road with other vehicle around my car will break itself as if I was about to hit someone from the back.

Car stopped in the middle of the street. Two different screens popped up one was Yellow the other was Red and white one said MALFUNCTION and explanation mark.

I am driving a 2018 Nissan rogue, currently has 65000miles on it. May 1st 2022 8 pm, while I was driving at 35 miles per hour, the car suddenly triggered its emergency brake and brought the car to a full stop in the middle of the road. there is no obstruction around me at all.

Nissan did a recall on emergency braking system fail for which I was not notified. I did not become aware of the recall until after the expiration date and now Nissan refuses to honor the recall even though they are aware of the problem.

I was sitting at a light with a car in front of me. The car in front of me started moving so I accelerated slowly and my car started beeping and then the breaks locked up. I was not too close to the car in front of me so I am worried as to why this happened.

My car has automatically breaked on its own while driving twice, with no car in front of me and without me (the driver) pressing on the breaks while attempting to get on the freeway once and once while driving down the street.

I was driving at 40mph on hwy 26 in wisconsin, when my vehicle slowed down on its own to 20mph. My ABS, and brake light both turned on since. There was no car in front or behind me.

Today as I was driving low speed after I pushed the brakes at rottery at macy's the car stopped moving even I accelerate the gas.

The automatic breaking feature triggered 6 times on 2/15/2020 causing us to almost wreck multiple times. The feature was engaged with no cars in the area.

Abrupt automatic unwarranted braking occurred in two incidents while travelling on boulevard. Automating braking engaged while driving 60 MPH on highway.

On more than 3 occasions my brakes went on by themselves while in motion .the third time my car would not start sensing something in path whole system shut down .car is new but was stuck at a location not near to home .the first several times the brakes applied I was driving on a dry road sunny conditions .most recent I was stationary sitting in a parking spot car completely shut down .

I was driving the car under the tunnel and ramp. In between of ramp suddenly emergency brake came and car stopped completely. And car speed was around 45-50 MPH.

I have had my 2018 nissan rouge for a little over a year. Over the year the vehicle has for no reason at all stopped on its own, a few times while driving on highway going 65 MPH. It has happened roughly a total of 10 times, at first I thought I was completely insane, how is a car braking on its own.

The ABS activated early in the morning with sun shining through an overhead train signal. I have filed two request for buy back but missouri has poor lemon laws and allows to keep replacing radar sensor.

While driving on a 4-lane city street, the vehicle jerked (stopped, started, stopped, started) by itself with the warning buzzard sounding as if the brakes were being pumped.. We had just driven over a railroad track about 50 feet behind us when this occurred. This happened roughly 8 months ago and has not happened since, thankfully.

Sudden and unexpected application of emergency brake while driving the 2018 nissan rogue. This has occurred twice within last week or so.

Driving 35 down the road when all of a sudden my emergency braking system starting stopping my vehicle abruptly alarms and flashing lights going off. There were no cars in front of me. Just out of the blue.

2 occurances, the aebs system engaged/decellerated while traveling 35 MPH with no vehicles on either side of the roadway-warning on the display were activated. This ocurred on a city street. 2nd event - ocurred on a city street while I was already slowing for a vehicle stopped at a red light at an intersection more 4 car lengths ahead.

While driving, the car suddenly stopped without me braking. It just automatically stopped. A warning symbol flashed quickly on my dash then the ca came to a sudden halt.

Was driving down the road and the automatic brake sensor came on and all wheels locked up almost causing someone to rearend me now I'm afraid to drive this car has happens to my husband while driving also nissan is aware of the problem and says they can't fix it. Have had three separate occasions where car breaked with no apparent obstruction while driving 30 MPH on city street:

Automatic emergency brake (aeb) engaged spontaneously while driving and no apparent obstruction was nearby.

The software update for the aeb system provided by nissan did not fix the problem of the aeb engaging at random.

Automatic breaking system engages on its own. I keep getting malfunction warnings every time I turn the car on and drive a few minutes. It has come on even when the car was parked.

This has happened twice in the last 2 months. While driving at around 35 MPH the breaking system engages for no apparent reason causing the car to rapidly slow to almost a stop. In both cases there has been nothing in front of the vehicle to cause this.

Automatic emergency break makes the vehicle stop moving without any thing infront that happen for 4 times and last lime I was on i65 north toward gallatin tn drive on 70 MPH thanks goodness no one was right behind me and another thanks to the truck driver come also to a complete stop behind me to protect me from the ongoing traffic

While driving mountain roads going up the vehicle stopped when turning on a curve. The car beepped then paused. Next day on the 26th while going up the mountain the vehicle didn't beep but did stop while driving in 3rd gear.

The automatic emergency braking is faulty. 10, 2018, I was driving into mt. Hope cemetery in rochester, ny.

The automatic emergency braking system engaged unexpectedly when there was no other car near my car either in front or on either side. The vehicle was moving steadily about 65 MPH in an outside lane on a highway. There was no reason for this incident to occur since there was no other car nearby, no debris on the road, and nothing adhering to the front of the car near the sensor.
