LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Pathfinder vehicles. On certain Pathfinder vehicles, the secondary hood latch may malfunction and remain in the unlatched, unsecured, position when the hood is closed.
Fix: Dealers will replace the bell crank assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 26, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall are R22A2 R22A3 and R24B7.

The contact owned a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the hood unintendedly opened and shattered the windshield. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the vehicle was a total loss. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the hood latch was replaced but the failure reoccurred several times. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and the manufacturer were made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, the hood latch was replaced after the first failure and the hood latches were lubricated after the second failure. The contact's aunt then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V420000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE OPENED AND SMASHED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERED UPON IMPACT, AND THE ROOF AND FRONT FENDERS WERE SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. SHEEHY NISSAN OF WHITE MARSH (8115 BELAIR ROAD, NOTTINGHAM, MARYLAND 21236, (443) 327-3203) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 33341850. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V033000 (STRUCTURE) IN APRIL OF 2015. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,430.
