SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP
Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles manufactured April 18, 2012, through September 20, 2013; model year 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles manufactured September 15, 2011, through January 16, 2013; and model year 2014 Infiniti QX60 vehicles manufactured January 17, 2013, through September 20, 2013. In the affected vehicles, during light braking on rough roads, the antilock brake system (ABS) brake pressure output software may lead to an increase in stopping distance.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ABS, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
SERVICE BRAKES
Nissan is recalling certain model year 2013 Pathfinder and Infiniti JX vehicles manufactured December 3, 2012, through January 29, 2013. The front brake torque member was improperly cast resulting in structural weakness. This can lead to premature failure and cracking.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the manufacturing date of the torque members and replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on May 20, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

My ABS system seems to trigger a warning when using the brakes and the car has a loss of power when accelerating this is especially dangerous on roads merging with traffic. I will restart the car the next day and the ABS light turns off and works fine. This seems to happen intermittently and is a safety concern for my family in the car.
After changing rear break pads. I started having issues with the ABS. The car goes into anti skid mode with abs decelerating the car. On highway the car vibrates while applying breaks. Upon taking back to the same dealership. The service team said it has nothing to do with the break changes and upon checking C1142 code came up. The pressure switch sensor issue. The service team flushed the break fluid a few times and asked me to use to vehicle and report for any such issues. I am reaching out the NHTSA to check if anyone else has report a faulty pressure switch. This was little scary a we had recently went on a long drive with the kids and the driving was bit rough and tough

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP OR WHILE IDLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO INCH FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL FAILED TO RETURN TO THE CORRECT POSITION. THE CONTACT CONTACTED A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

THE BATTERY TERMINALS WERE DISCONNECTED TO HAVE THE BRAKE LAMPS WERE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,684.
WHEN BRAKING, I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING AT STOP LIGHTS. EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL DOES NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, THE BRAKES ARE "SOFT". MANY TIMES, THE BRAKES DO NOT SEEM TO START WORKING UNTIL THE PEDAL IS PRESSED DOWN ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. SPEED DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR, THE BRAKES JUST DON'T WORK. UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE IS A HIGH-PITCHED SQUEAL THAT CAN ONLY BE HEARD INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN 4 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE WITH NO PERMANENT RESOLUTION. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITHOUT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT STEPPING IN, BE IT NHTSA OR THE COURTS - MOST OF US CANNOT AFFORD TO GO THE THE LEGAL ROUTE AS WE'RE SPENDING TOO MUCH ON "BAND-AID" REPAIRS AT NISSAN. PLEASE TAKE SOME ACTION ON THIS MATTER, TOO MANY LIVES ARE AT STAKE. WE'LL NEVER HAVE ZERO FATALITIES WHEN A MANUFACTURER IS ALLOWED TO PRODUCE UNSAFE VEHICLES WITHOUT BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. AT A MINIMUM, NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES TO EITHER SOLVE THE PROBLEM OR FIND A WAY TO GET THEIR DANGEROUS VEHICLES OFF OF OUR ROADS WITHOUT PENALIZING THE CONSUMERS THAT TRUSTED NISSAN TO PROVIDE A SAFE VEHICLE.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T TURN OFF. IT DOSEN'T MATTER IF THE C AS R IS IN MOTION OR THE ENGINE IS OFF.
MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT SHOW IN RECALL HOWEVER OVER 80,000 VEHICLES HAD SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING. THE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH, ELECTRICAL RELAY IS STICKING AND CAUSED BREAK LIGHTS TO BE ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF AND I AM NOT IN THE CAR. THEN WHEN DRIVING BREAK LIGHTS COME ON AND I AM NOT PRESSING THE BREAKS. ALSO THE CAR WOULD NOT GO WHEN SHOULD AND I HAVE TO HIT THE GAS PADDLE AGAIN TO MAKE IT MOVE. SCARY GETTING ON THE FREEWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAULKNER NISSAN HARRISBURG (3925 PAXTON ST, HARRISBURG, PA 17111, (717) 558-8220) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES AFTER TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
LAST MONTH, I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WAS AT A FULL STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALWAYS ACCELERATE WHEN I TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE SPAN OF TWO WEEKS. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE PROBLEM ONLINE, I BECAME AWARE THAT ON MAY 31, 2016, 79,853 2013-2014 PATHFINDERS WERE RECALLED FOR DEFECTIVE BREAK LIGHT SWITCHES (CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V380000). AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO MY DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT MY ISSUE STEMMED FROM A DEFECTIVE BREAK LIGHT SWITCH AND STOP LAMP RELAY - THE EXACT SAME REASON 79,853 PATHFINDERS WERE RECALLED IN 2016 (PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PDF COPY OF RECEIPT). YET MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. WHEN I POINTED THIS OUT TO MY DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE CAME OFF A DIFFERENT ASSEMBLY LINE. ALTHOUGH I AM NO EXPERT, THIS MAKES LITTLE SENSE, SINCE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WOULD BE THE SAME NO MATTER WHERE THE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED. THEREFORE I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU THAT MORE VEHICLES SHOULD PROBABLY BE INCLUDED IN THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH RECALL; PARTICULARLY SINCE THIS IS A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE.
WE HAVE TAKEN OUR 2013 PATHFINDER IN FOR BRAKE EVALUATION PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION, AND JUST AFTER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY RAN OUT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STOP AT THE SPECIFIED PEDAL DISTANCE, AND THEN LOSE PRESSURE AND GO TO THE FLOOR. WE HAD THIS EVALUATED BY NISSAN, AND A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO WHICH WE WERE TOLD WE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER BY BOTH. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED, AND WE HAVE NO BEEN TOLD THIS IS POTENTIALLY A BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE WHICH NISSAN HAS RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS ON YET HAS NOT REMEDIED THE SAFETY ISSUE. SO FAR WE HAVE SPENT OVER $600 WITH REPLACING BRAKES, ROTORS, MASTER CYLINDER, AND LABOR. NOT TO MENTION OVER 5 TRIPS TO GET EVALUATIONS AND REPAIRS.
AT FIRST THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FADING TO THE FLOOR AT A STOP. REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER. CONDITION BETTER BUT PEDAL STILL SPONGY AND THEN, ADDITIONALLY, WHEN DRIVING, AT RANDOM TIMES THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN 3/4 OF THE WAY BEFORE ANY BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE IS FELT AND THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO STOP. THIS IS VERY SCARY AS YOU ARE NOT SURE IF THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO STOP OR NOT. DEALER THEN REPLACED ABS ACTUATOR WITH NO REMEDY TO RANDOM PROBLEM. DEALER ADDITIONALLY REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AGAIN WITH NO BETTER OUTCOME. DEALER UNABLE TO FIX THIS SERIOUS BRAKE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER CONSULTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING WITH NISSAN ENGINEERS. NOW WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL NISSAN ENGINEER CAN GET TO DEALER IN 2 WEEKS? TO PERSONALLY TROUBLESHOOT THE BRAKES. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT AND NOW IS ON IT'S 3RD MASTER CYLINDER AND 2ND ABS ACTUATOR WITH NO SAFE SOLUTION AS OF YET.

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE BRAKE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT EXTENSIVE REPAIRS WERE REQUIRED. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED A BUY BACK VERSUS A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE DEALER REQUIRED THAT THE CONTACT PICK UP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

AFTER LESS THAN 20000 MILES ON NEW PATHFINDER, REAR BRAKES AND TIRES NEEDED REPLACEMENT, WERE DOWN TO MINIMAL SAFE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATION, VERIFIED INDEPENDENTLY BY 2 AUTO REPAIR PLACES. BOTH SERVICE LOCATIONS CALLED THIS KIND OF WEAR EXCESSIVE.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED AN INCREASED IN BRAKE, EVERY TIME I HIT SLIGHTLY THE GAS PEDAL ON MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM..AND I WAS DRIVING AROUND 15 TO 20 MILES/HOUR, I DON'T KNOW WHY NISSAN HAS PUT IN THE MARKET A CAR WITH SO MANY BUGS.

BRAKE FAILURE - ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED - PREVENTING CAR FROM STOPPING. I WAS PULLING INTO A DIRT PARKING LOT - STEPPING ON THE BRAKES - ANTI-LOCK BRAKES KICKED IN, BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD AND WOULDN'T PRESS DOWN ANYMORE - TRUCK WOULDN'T NOT SLOW DOWN. I WAS HEADING TOWARDS TREES - I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD - TRUCK STOPPED JUST SHORT OF THE TREES.. I HAVE RAN INTO SIMILAR SITUATION IN SNOW - DEFINITELY STILL A MAJOR BRAKE PROBLEM. ALSO ROTORS WERE WARPED AT 17K MILES. WE ALSO HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM AFTER LEAVING THE TRUCK AT THE AIRPORT FOR A WEEK - IT FELT LIKE THE CALIPERS WERE EXTREMELY WARPED AND METAL ON METAL GRINDING - - THIS SCARED MY WIFE AND KIDS REALLY BADLY.. IT TOOK AT LEAST 3 MILES FOR THE BRAKES TO FEEL A LITTLE BETTER.. I SHUT OFF MY TRUCK - GOT OUT - CLOSED THE DOORS AND THE DOORS WOULDN'T LOCK. I COULD SEE A ERROR ON THE DASH BOARD SHOWING THE CAR REMOTE. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO LOCK THE DOOR AND KEPT GETTING THE SAME ERROR. I GOT BACK INTO THE TRUCK AND RESTARTED IT - THEN SHUT IT OFF - GOT OUT AND THE DOORS WOULD LOCK. THE DEALER ALREADY DID THE SERVICE BULLETIN UPDATE FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES IN MARCH - AND IT EVIDENTLY DIDN'T WORK. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE REMOTE - GETTING IN TO THE TRUCK AND STARTING THE TRUCK. I HAVE HAD TIMES I REMOTE STARTED THE TRUCK, THEN COULDN'T GET IN.. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE NEW IN NOVEMBER 2013, I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. AFTER ALMOST GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH MY WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, I WENT TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT ON JAN 29 2013 AND EXPLAINED THAT "AT TIMES ABOUT ONCE TO TWICE A MONTH, WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP PROPERLY AND ONLY SLOWED DOWN. THE SERVICE DEPT. KEPT THE VEHICLE, ONLY TO RETURN IT AND SAID THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONDITION PERSISTED ONLY ONCE TO TWICE A MONTH. I STATED ON A OIL SERVICE THAT THIS ISSUE STILL PERSISTED. ON OCTOBER 21, 2013 I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK ON A MAJOR BRIDGE WHEN ALL TRAFFIC CAME TO A HALT. MY VEHICLE JUST WENT OVER ONE OF THE BRIDGE'S METAL EXPANSION JOINTS WHICH IS A LITTLE BUMP WHEN I NEEDED TO BRAKE. MY APPROX SPEED WAS 30 MPH AT THE TIME I NEEDED TO STOP. AGAIN, WITH THE SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND I REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. AS I SWERVED RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE LANE TO AVOID A TOTAL DOMINO EFFECT OF REAR-ENDING VEHICLES, I WAS THE T-BONED BY ANOTHER ONCOMING VEHICLE. ALL OF MY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND DAMAGE WAS TO MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE. AN ESTIMATE OF $19,000.00 WAS FIGURED BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER. 2 DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT ON OCTOBER 23, 2013, NISSAN ISSUED A TOTAL RECALL OF THE 2013 PATHFINDER. THE RECALL STEMS FROM A FLAW IN THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM SOFTWARE. THE BULLETIN SAYS THAT "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, DURING LIGHT BRAKING ON ROUGH ROADS, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) BRAKE PRESSURE OUTPUT SOFTWARE MAY LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE". AND OF COURSE, THE LONGER IT TAKES TO STOP A VEHICLE, THE GREATER THE LIKELIHOOD OF A CRASH. WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 10 TO 15MPH WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL GOT HARD AND WOULD NOT STOP.
