Filed: Mar 2023

Your airbag warning light came on when you started the vehicle. A diagnostic test at an independent mechanic couldn't identify the cause. The airbag system may not deploy properly in a crash if this issue isn't resolved. You'll likely need a dealer diagnostic scan and possibly replacement of the airbag control module or sensor.

NHTSA #: 11514157

Filed: Jul 2020

Your transmission started slipping and the vehicle moved slowly, then wouldn't start at all (error code U1000). After replacing the starter and a fuse, the car still wouldn't start reliably. You discovered the transmission fluid looked like strawberry milkshake (indicating coolant contamination) and the radiator fluid was dark, suggesting internal radiator failure has allowed coolant to mix with transmission fluid. This may require transmission fluid flush, radiator replacement, and possibly transmission repair or replacement.

NHTSA #: 11341340

Filed: Feb 2021

Your transmission has needed to be replaced twice. This suggests a serious and recurring problem with your vehicle's transmission system that has required complete replacement rather than repair.

Fuel/propulsion System2 issues
highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Nov 2019

Your fuel gauge is malfunctioning — it showed full when the tank was actually empty, and your check engine light came on shortly after purchase. When your husband tried to refuel, the fuel door would only accept small amounts of gas before stopping, requiring five attempts to fill up. The issue appears to be related to a fuel sensor recall that may not have been completed on your vehicle before you bought it.

NHTSA #: 11281694
highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Oct 2019

Your vehicle's fuel pump has failed repeatedly, requiring four replacements within a 9-month period. This suggests an underlying issue is damaging the pump prematurely rather than normal wear and tear. The repair will likely involve replacing the fuel pump and investigating what's causing the repeated failures, such as contaminated fuel, electrical problems, or a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

NHTSA #: 11266580
Steering,seat Belts,unknown Or Other1 issue
criticalSTEERING,SEAT BELTS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Aug 2022

While driving on a highway, your car suddenly shut off without warning, causing the power steering to fail completely. Your seat belt locked in place, making it difficult to exit the vehicle, and the doors were hard to open. This created a dangerous situation, especially since you were on a busy road in hot weather.

NHTSA #: 11477576
Power Train, engine And Engine Cooling1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Filed: Feb 2022

Your radiator has defective internal seals that allowed coolant and transmission fluid to mix together. This cross-contamination damaged your transmission and engine. The radiator will need to be replaced and your transmission and engine may require repair or replacement depending on the extent of the damage.

Air Bags,wheels,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
criticalAIR BAGS,WHEELS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Jan 2021

Your 2007 Pathfinder has multiple issues: the airbag warning light stays on and won't turn off, the fuel gauge always shows empty even when the tank is full, the tire pressure sensor light won't go off, and the engine stalls while driving—especially when slowing down for turns. The stalling started about 7 months ago and happens whether you're in town or on the highway. You'll likely need diagnostic work to address the airbag system, fuel gauge/sender unit, and engine stalling issues.

NHTSA #: 11386716
Power Train,engine1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN,ENGINE
Filed: Oct 2019

While driving, your engine RPMs suddenly spiked and caused the car to sputter and rev unexpectedly, nearly causing an accident. At stop lights, the car hesitates and barely moves forward, feeling like it might stall. You've already replaced the radiator, hoses, and transmission fluid, but the transmission problems persist. This could involve diagnosing the transmission control system, engine sensors, or internal transmission damage.

NHTSA #: 11270324
Structure1 issue
highSTRUCTURE
Filed: Jun 2025

Your car's frame has developed rust holes on both the right and left sides, particularly at the rear over the tires. The holes are approximately 4 inches long and span the width of the frame in that area. This structural deterioration could eventually compromise your vehicle's integrity and safety. Frame repair or replacement will likely be necessary to address this rust damage.

Engine1 issue
highENGINE
Filed: Jul 2024

Your Pathfinder's coolant and transmission fluid have become mixed together, which your dealership confirmed after you reported the issue. This cross-contamination can damage both your engine cooling system and transmission if not addressed. Your dealership should diagnose and repair the source of this contamination, which likely involves replacing seals or gaskets that are allowing the fluids to mix.

NHTSA #: 11603052
Suspension1 issue
highSUSPENSION
Filed: May 2023

Your Nissan was subject to a recall involving the control arm, but the dealer told you yours wasn't affected so it wasn't repaired. A year or two later, your entire suspension system has deteriorated and now needs replacement. This suggests the control arm issue may have progressed despite not being addressed initially, requiring comprehensive suspension work to restore safe handling.

NHTSA #: 11521471
Engine And Engine Cooling, power Train1 issue
highENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,POWER TRAIN
Filed: May 2023

You noticed fluid leaking underneath your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder onto the ground, with no warning lights appearing on your dashboard. When you checked, you found coolant leaking from the radiator. A mechanic suggested the transmission might be cracked, though the vehicle wasn't fully diagnosed. The leak will likely require radiator inspection and possible replacement or seal repair to stop the coolant loss.

NHTSA #: 11520401
Unknown Or Other,engine1 issue
highUNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
Filed: Jun 2021

Your vehicle suddenly jolted and stopped moving completely. The transmission cooling lines inside the radiator ruptured, causing pink transmission fluid to leak out and destroying the radiator. This appears to be a manufacturing defect that wasn't disclosed to you beforehand, creating a sudden loss of vehicle control on the road.

NHTSA #: 11420785
Engine,power Train1 issue
highENGINE,POWER TRAIN
Filed: Jul 2020

Your transmission cooler has failed, allowing transmission fluid to mix with your engine coolant. This can damage both your transmission and cooling system if not repaired. You'll likely need the transmission cooler replaced and both fluids flushed and refilled.

NHTSA #: 11339992
Power Train,electrical System,engine1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
Filed: Oct 2019

Your vehicle wouldn't start after you turned off the ignition, even though the lights and electrical systems worked normally. A shop diagnosed this as a vehicle control module issue. After this problem, your transmission began skipping 1st and 2nd gears and starting in 3rd gear instead on the automatic transmission. The repair may involve diagnosing and replacing the vehicle control module and having the transmission inspected or serviced.

NHTSA #: 11267899
Power Train,fuel/propulsion System1 issue
mediumPOWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Oct 2019

Your vehicle shakes or vibrates once you reach speeds of 40 mph or higher. This vibration becomes noticeable at highway speeds and suggests an issue with the engine or fuel delivery system. A mechanic will likely need to inspect your ignition system, fuel injectors, and engine balance to identify the cause.
