2015 Kia Soul Other Problems

Your car has an anti-theft ignition issue and a separate recall related to engine compartment fires. Your Kia dealer has confirmed these problems exist. Your check engine light is coming on repeatedly, which started in February 2026. The aftermarket ignition cylinder installed by the seller is preventing Kia from performing the necessary recalls to address these issues. You may need to have the aftermarket ignition cylinder replaced with an OEM part so that the factory recalls can be completed.

The contact owned a 2015 Kia Soul. While driving at 55 MPH, the contact heard a loud "pop" sound followed immediately by visible flames originating from under the hood. No warning lights or indicators were illuminated before the fire.

Driving home from supermarket. Car made a loud bang and started smoking from under the hood. Pulled over into parking lot.

There was a knocking sound, so I pulled over and smoke started coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. There was a fire and the car was later deemed a total loss.

purchased vehicle on 10/12/2024 was driving it home the car started knocking, and loosing acceleration on freeway. the car was smelling of very volatile gas fumes. I put some gas in car for the trip home .

I own a 2015 Kia Soul affected by recall SC200, which addresses engine compartment fires due to oil/fuel leaks and potential engine damage. My vehicle experienced engine halts at high speeds, and Peak Kia in Littleton, CO, discovered a leaking valve cover gasket and PCV valve.

Got off of hwy traveling at 70 MPH came to stoplight. Vehicle stalled. Noticed smoke, then flames.

Catalytic converter failure despite recall repair (#19v120). Catalytic converters may become damaged due to overheating. This issue can increase the risk of engine stall or fire.

The catalytic converter got pluged up from the oil consumption. The car would no longer accelerate. Yes I still have the catalytic converter.yes the safety was I went to excelrate and I almost got rear ended.

Starting in summer of 2021, I began to has acceleration problems with my car and a check engine light came on. It was undrivable so I took it to the closest mechanic I could make it to, Firestone. They found the catalytic converter to be the problem and I paid $1100 to replace it.

At the inspection & emissions test on 01/10/2023, the vehicle failed with a P0420 cat code & Kia recommended I pay to replace the catalytic converter. The first P0420 was found in Aug '19 at an Auto Zone. The vehicle is available for inspection.

It doesn’t no shift correctly Catalytic converter problems RMP so hight and delay to shift. I can’t go in the freeway the car no respond and don’t go up to 60 I was driving in the free I almost crash and other people behind me To get off the freeway and now warranty not cover. The pass Ower never took the car to the recall and I have to deal w all this

The KIA Catalytic Converter recall update from 2019 did not work. My check engine light kept coming on after that and KIA did not replace the catalytic converter or car, as they were supposed to, even though my car WAS under the emissions warranty at that time. They said the update to the computer took care of it, but the engine light kept coming on.

During the month of March 2021, I received a recall letter from Kia Motors America involving a potential engine fire. The vehicle was taken to the local Kia dealership for service. The problem was the loss of oil.

I was driving on freeway when another car got my attention a fire had started outside (backside) so I thought I better pull over and my brakes wouldn’t stop. By this time the fire was entering the vehicle. I saw it in my backside so I acted quickly and pulled emergency brakes and jumped out before car went up in flames.

I purchased my car in March of 2020. A month after I had my car the brake pads wore out with NO indication and the calipers broke. I called Kia and explained what the issue was.

Driving ~75mph down the highway when my panoramic sunroof randomly exploded outwards. Small pieces of glass then fell on myself, my wife, and our two kittens. There was no apparent cause.

My car engine light turned on then began to smoke and stall out while on the freeway tt. Then the hood began smoking rapidly and lady calming rushing to me yelling for me to get out the car. I escaped the car left the driver door open, then I noticed I left my wallet and keys in there car.

My friends 2015 kia soul caught fire while driving at highway speeds. We can see where there was a recall for a faulty fuel, I believe. Strangely though her VIN was not included in the recall.

June 18, 2019-driving on highway, started to pass a slow moving vehicle, pressed accelerator and it would not go faster at first, then it did go a little faster. I moved back into driving lane and proceeded but I slowed down to 55 MPH (posted speed limit 70) . Kept losing speed, put on emergency flashers, as I was exiting off highway to safe spot smoke started billowing from behind vehicle.

We just received our soul back for the latest kia recall service after being 1 week at the dealership, while driving the car engine shut off in the middle of the traffic almost causing accident and injury. Called dealership rick case kia (sunrise fl) they asked us to tow the car in for diagnostic.

My car is very sluggish when I press the gas pedal it feels like my engine does not want to go, and when I'm idling I feel as if my engine will stall unless I press the gas, I have contacted kia regarding this problem and the associate I spoke with said that my vehicle has been recalled under the sc176 campaign ( this was in february 2019) it is now april 14th, and according to kia my car is not officially recalled as of yet..

While driving to work the car made a sound like a blown tire. I pulled over only to find that it was on fire under the hood. There was no warning, no sounds, no cues no warning lights.

My car lost power going up hill on Interstate 5 and ended up seizing up. I could not bring the car to highway speeds I had to drive home using side roads. A mechanic said the car appears to be consuming oil and degraded the catalytic converter.

Engine burning oil so much that it destroys the catalytic converter leaving me stranded middle of a highway.

While driving home from work late at night, the car just stopped without warning and would not start again. It was towed to the dealership where I was informed that there would be a $750 diagnostic fee, but that Kia would probably not replace the engine under warranty because the recall had not been taken care of.

Daughters were stranded in middle of road ,, Car Dealer said everything was fixed not the case sent car back nothing was done had to tow to mechanic and they did the repairs as needed car is back in shop needing additional repairs that should have been done with original recall

I recieved a notification of an engine recall for my Kia Soul. Took it to the nearest dealership an was told the issue was resolved. This was roughly March 1 2021.

On April 9, 2021, I was driving on the expressway and felt an odd change in the vehicle's handling while I was accelerating. Very shortly after, I exited the expressway and came to a stop at the red light at the end of the exit ramp. At that point, the engine simply stopped functioning.

Unknown Consumer stated car broke down on October 29th, car was driven less than a mile, when consumer heard a noise coming from the car. In trying to pull over, car screeched and came to a stop. There was a loud metal knocking.

My 2015 kia soul stalls and won't pass 45 MPH I was at the turnpike when it happen. I also know people with the same problem and that there was a recall on the catalytic converter. But when I look up for my car its says I don't have a recall.

When I go to come to a stop at a stop light or stop sigh, sometimes the engine will stall out and all power is lost. The have to turn the car off completely and restart it. Then it drives fine again until I come to another stop.

While driving home and at a stop sign my car began to knock something fierce, being a few homes away pulling into driveway. I now hear louder knocking and a new clanking noise (metal in washer sound). Car was towed to mechanic I was told the rod was busted.

P0420 code catalyst system below threshold is part of the recall sc-176. This was in on5-17-19 for the fix. Seven months later same same code back on 12-30-19.

Drove up a hill for a delivery. Car stalled half way up the hill. Tried to restart car, when doing so & put the gears into drive the car rolled back some.

I believe that I am needing the Knock Sensor Detection System updated. I have called the dealer and they have stated that my VIN # does not have any recalls. I do have the MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp currently on.

The engine light started blinking, I noticed even though I was pushing the gas my car wasn’t accelerating properly, and by the time I stopped & turn my car off I could hear a very low clanking noise. Check oils, everything was at proper levels, no leaks under my hood. I’m being told it could be a number of things and of course all possible issues are $500+ in repairing it.

I’m not sure what system failed and yes my car is available for inspection. My safety was severely put at risk because something started to let smoke fill the cab of my car and it was so bad that I had to roll all the windows down which still I could barely breath. My hands went purple as well as my arms.

In the past year my 2015 Kia Soul has been loosing power, burning oil not leaking and if you have to drive more then 2 hours you have to put oil in it. The engine shakes we took it for a recall but the issue was never fixed.

My stability control light came on, the car started jerking, then shut off completely at the redlight when I stopped, I restarted it and the light went off, car ran fine, but it happened again and again, took to the shop they told me trans was fine, no codes on the diagnostic but it is still happening, the mechanic told me I need wheel bearings replaced I paid for that, now the light is still coming on and the car doesnt start unless you turn it off and turn it on again.

My 2015 Kia Soul is currently in the repair shop at Jim Marsh Kia,in Las Vegas Nv,awaiting an engine replacement.The vehicles engine light had come on for the 3rd time in apx 4 weeks .The first 2 times I brought the vehicle in the technician told me I probably did not tighten the gas cap and he turned off the engine light and sent me in my way.The only difference the 2nd time the engine light came on was the technician told me if this keeps happening (meaning not tightening my gas cap and causing the engine light to come on)I would need to schedule an appointment.This last time,the 3rd time,I got in the car to pick up my granddaughter and when I started the car it sounded like a bunch of nuts and bolts in a blender.

My car has a recall on it . Service dude say it passed the recall test and I just checked and it said recall incomplete car has been making a loud rattling noise since I picked it up the first they " fixed " my car

My check engine light has been on for a week. I've taken it to the dealer three times before and was told it had a code of p05a. They also said that they can't fix it.

When using cruise control, car will randomly speed up or slow down and get very loud and also jerk forward. It will also occasionally jerk forward or backwards while driving normally.

I get this rocking/jerking/ feeling in the entire car while holding the brake and slowly inching forward or backward, as in going really, really slow. The feeling is worse than other times randomly while driving. For a fact it is absolutely worse when the car has been sitting overnight at home or at work all day

My car is not part of the catalytic converter Recall and I don't understand why. My catalytic converter is not functioning properly and I am getting code p0420 and this makes no sense why I am not part of the recall. My engine and everything matches up to all these recalls and I am scared my car is going to explode.

The KIA company is denying me the anti theft software. What can I do?

My catalytic converter went out on my Kia while driving unexpectedly and I have heard of a lot of other Kias in my year have the same issue.

NHTSA recall for reference number 19v120000. Engine and engine cooling exhaust system: emission control: catalytic convertor and my kia soul 2015 did not have this changed out. Kia is saying that is is not a recall but this issue is a recall because if my car blows up and some one dies I am sueing kia for this issue/

The catalytic converter has failed. Even though I got the software update to the converter for the recall, the converter still needs replacement.

Engine light stays on, it’s says on the instrument that I used that it’s the catalyst converter but when you take it to the shop they can’t find anything wrong. Also my car shakes when pressing on the brakes.

Vehicle was equipped with a major default making the vehicle extremely easy to steel. Because of this flaw, my car, along with thousands of other Kias in my neighborhood, are being stolen at an alarming rate. The financial burden this is creating is out of control.

Car had been parked in driveway for 12 hours, then spontaneously combusted in the early morning hours.

Radiator gets damaged by road debris because of faulty guard. Causes poor ventilation contributing to system failure and build up of unventilated caustics

Nexen tires do not pass state inspection and they have less than 23,500 miles on them, these tires are coming apart gouges down to tell steel belts.
