2015 Kia Soul Engine Problems

Kia soul engines are known for burning through oil very quickly. the recall does not include my car because I have a 2.0L engine. The excessive oil consumption of my engine completely melted the inside of my catalytic converter.

On April 24, 2022, while driving my 2015 Kia Soul, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. The fire originated in the engine compartment and destroyed the vehicle. This occurred despite the existence of a known safety recall related to the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS), which has been linked to engine fires in Kia vehicles.

The car has consistently burned oil, and I’ve had several engine-related repairs: 09/2022: Camshaft replaced. The check engine light came on again, but I was told the camshaft was fine and that the car just needed an oil change. 04/2023: Check engine light came on, AutoZone diagnostic code P0011.

On April 11, 2024, customer's check engine light came on on his 2015 Kia Soul. It was clear, dry, and fair temperature day. Owner was returning home from a routine trip from work on an outer road to a highway.

The engine consumes excessive oil, dropping it into the catalytic converter. This clogs the catalytic converter and causes it to overheat, creating a fire hazard. The car is on its 3rd catalytic converter in 5 years.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Engine(yes) How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The engine has the same knocking noises) which indicated the onset of excessive connecting rod bearing wear in the engine.

I believe the recalls for the ‘Engine’ and the ‘Engine and engine cooling: Exhaust system: Emission control: Catalytic convertor’ apply to the continuouse issue I’ve been having with my car. I was told it’s not affected but I believe it is. I have an oil leak somehow but its not leaking outside the car, there are no oil stains in the driveway.

I was driving, and on my way back home the engine stopped working suddenly, oil leaked everywhere and I believe a rod blew. It exposed all my oil and it could have potentially injured or killed us. The only warning was the check engine light but that wasn't visible until 1 min prior to the incident.

My engine has had many issues stemming from a bad engine Kia of Irvine has avoided fixing they have charged for fixes under warranty and ignored code p0420 since 2018. After much push Catalytic engine was replaced replaced in 2021. I had noticed burning smell from engine along with low oil but was denied an oil consumption and pushed out of extended warranty with minor fixes.

3 time same time going 60 and speed drop 40 fast almost some hot from the back in freeway was a miss fire what was fix but the 3 time show a code p1326 Is problem w the motor.

Recall for catalytic converter failure not fixed. Dealer claimed to fix but lied. My catalytic converter is failing and Kia refused to fix it with previous recall appointments.

Yes before my car went to limp mode on the interstate it stalled several times and had a flashing gear wrench sign flash several times .I looked for recalls after telling the dealership what happened,and all the did we was update the flash on the ECU .

Driving down the road and the car caught fire for no reason

In 2019 my check engine light came on and there was an issue with the Catalytic converter I had 65,000 miles on the car, my car burns oil and has a rough idle, now 48,000 miles later check engine light is on again and it needs a new Catalytic converter, I feel like this is a a safety concern that is related to the engine issue that they are catching fire.

While driving my father-in-law in his 2015 Kia Soul to ironically get a lube and oil service done on the vehicle, there was a loud "pop," immediately followed by smoke coming out of the engine compartment and rear of the vehicle. Almost immediately, the engine shut down, and I pulled the vehicle over. There were no warning lamps indicating any kind of problem with the engine up to that point.

As I was driving up a hill close to my house, there was suddenly a loud popping noise from the front of the vehicle and very quickly the cab of the car was filled with thick black smoke. I quickly exited the car and saw that the entire engine was completely engulfed in flames.

Hello I have a 2015 Kia Soul with a 1.6L engine and I am awear that there is a recall on Kia souls in the same year as my car. I called and as you can see, it says my car does not have a recall on it. Today is April 19,2022 and due to my car giving me problems and would not start at times, and a few days ago the engine started shaking.

I purchased my 2015 Kia Soul at the end of 2014, while living in Florida. I moved out of Florida in 2018, and had the car's registration changed to include my new address as soon as possible upon my arrival in my new state of residence. Kia began notifying owners of this vehicle about recall # 19V120000 in February 2019.

Vehicle started to lose oil and knocking sound in engine began which may be coming from the piston rings. It is available for inspection and I have taken it to 2 KIA Dealerships. In regards to safety Quest - I drive my daughter to school and home and myself to work.

Engine is leaking oil. Recall reference number 20V75000 also listed as SC200 applies to my vehicle, but when I called about it, Kia states that it does not. I had a mechanic look at it, and all of the same issues are happening to my vehicle.

The catalytic converter is causing my engine to have issues. I was traveling up an incline and the car would not accelerate past 30mph. I never received any warning signs such as engine light, black smoke from the exhaust, and the egg smell if the converter is going bad.

On December 20th I had a Cylinder 2 & 4 misfire. I had to get my vehicle towed to the KIA dealership where they kept my car for a week. I called to get an update and I was told that my engine was a total lost and I went over the 100,000 mile warranty so I would have to pay $5500 out of pick to replace my engine.

The engine is leaking oil and got so hot that it melted the inside of the Catalytic converter. This is a recall on 2015 Kia Soul 1.7 liter and not on my 2015 Kia Soul 2.0 liter. I had the car towed to the Kia dealership, Larry Stovesand-Carbondale IL, 5/7/21 to perform 3 recalls: PI2002B (knock sensor), SC200PS (engine inspect/bearing clearance test) and SC155B (pinion gear).

Something is causing the catalytic converter to clog and overheat, reducing greatly, the power of the vehicle, particularly when traveling uphill. I fear it will become hot enough to start a fire and/or damage the pistons/engine.

A recall was done for the Catalytic converter recall work did not fix the problem the converter was replaced and 1 1/2 years later the converter melted and broke off inside which caused damage when it clogged the flow of air when I went to enter the freeway I lost all acceleration and had to be towed it took out the muffler the converter was replaced again and the muffler but the check engine light came on again after less than right hours from leaving Kia when I returned it back to Kia to have the check light read it was the timing chain intake outtake system which was most likely caused from the Catalytic converter melting and breaking apart sending the sut in places that it shouldn't be in the engine

My engine oil is running completely out (has happened a few times now) long before it is due for another oil change. Several times I have taken it in to a mechanic, and was told that my car is just burning up the oil very quickly; no leaks have been detected, and I have been told I need to notify the manufacturer. I first noticed the issue when braking, and my oil light would flicker on and off.

Engine is using excessive amounts of oil and there are no apparent leaks. A seized engine on the interstate can lead to an accident. I see multiple reports of this problem with this engine and nothing is being done to correct this safety issue.

After having the cat converter replaced before the recall ever came out or existed the dealership never changed the replaced cat which was as damaged as the first one but then had the ecu upgrade done at the same mileage as the first on going bad and now blew the engine and caught fire!

We bought this on 2016 for my daughter at that the car had 20 something thousand miles the car was working great we were doing the oil changes every 2500 miles .everything was ok until the car got 70000 miles is when the problems started in one time we did the oil change, alright everything was ok one week and half past and my daughter told that her car was doing some weirds noises on the engine so I went outside to check the engine oil level and got surprised because the engine was almost empty I had to add about 21/2 quarts of oil what happened after that is that I was checking the oil level every week finding out that I had to add almost 2 quarts every week and I thought this can't be happening on a car with 70000 miles so did start investigating online ,I found out the this car have a engine problems same thing happening to me but I'm not sure if the existing recall is also related with my problem because the one said something related with catalytic converter that could get overheated and could damage pistons in the engine the recall number is 19v120 .ok with that information I went to the kia dealership I told them about the recall and they said that they don't have the recall in the system so they can't do nothing about it so I have to wait for the kia notice .

Regarding our recent complaint number: 11251884. (engine blew up.) recall 19v120000 describes the same symptoms we experienced, along with the same year and engine, but our VIN was not included. Please include our VIN in the recall and compel kia to make us whole for this endangerment.

Driving on a city street at about 35 MPH, the engine began rapping with no oil light warning. Stopped the car, the oil light finally went on, no oil was leaking, but checking the oil level revealed there was no oil in the engine. The engine is a total loss.

I bought my 2015 kia soul + brand new. I did all my own service work and kept up with maintenance as required. At around 100k the motor started using about 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles.

I have a 2015 kia soul 2.0l engine. I get all schedule maintenance done, including regular oil changes. I have noticed that oil burns extremely quickly out of the car as if it disappears.

I was driving my 2015 kia soul on my normal route to work on 4/5/18. It was a dark, clear morning on a busy highway. I was moving with traffic at approximately 60 MPH.

Even while the car was still under warranty And under 130,000 miles, it's needed the catalytic converter replaced twice already. It burns/leaks oil to the point where it gets bone dry but will still run just with lost power. Sometimes it has a loud raddle when you first start the vehicle, only for a brief couple of seconds but it could be the lifters potentially.

No early warning lights displayed, but traveling on the interstate in this Kia Soul, having only 74,000 original miles on it when sudden knocking began. Had to quickly get to a stopping point and eventually have the vehicle towed. Mechanic reported is the very common Theta II motor issue where a spun bearing has occurring and could have easily locked up the engine, causing safety risks.

I recieved a recall notice for my 2015 kia soul via mail earlier this year and made an appointment to have the recall maintenance addressed at the local dealership as directed. After a month and a half the maintenance was completed including a successful pass engine test. Shortly after departing the car had issues accelerating and the check engine light began flashing.

Kia of columbus only had the car 20 minutes when they said they were completely done changing the part out. Update to complaint files 31 jan, 2020. 2015 kia soul with 72004 miles was towed to a repair facility. Upon evaluation, mechanic stated that the piston/rod had fractured and the piston was force into the head.

Vehicle was purchased brand new in july of 2015 and had approximately 124,000 miles. All regular maintenance including oil changes were done at kia service centers , next service wasn't due for another 2,000-3,000 miles. Engine began making loud ticking and knocking noises on 25 jan 2020 and started having trouble accelerating and reaching higher rpms.

I was driving on the highway and when I accelerated the vehicle moved slower instead of going faster. Once I parked on the side of the road the vehicle turned off and will not turn on. The mechanic said that the engine died.

On the freeway car engine made popping/banging noises followed by the whole dashboard lighting up and car completely shut off. My 2015 kia soul is now sitting at a shop, due to the fact that without any warning as I was traveling down the highway it decided to slow down and shake then stall managed to get it started and get off the highway to a store, checked the oil there wasn't any in the engine even though 2 days before I had just had it changed.

When I hit about 65k on the vehicle the check engine light would come on. Each time this happens it's because there is no oil in the engine. I also notice the light comes on apprx.

Had knock soft updated. Changed plugs at 82,000 miles. Plugs show oil being burned.
