Filed: Oct 2025

Your driver's side door controls have stopped working, preventing you from rolling windows up or down or locking and unlocking the doors — a security concern if you need quick access or to secure your vehicle. Your infotainment system has also cut out while driving, and the engine revved at the same time, though the car remained drivable. No warning lights appeared when these issues occurred. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the electrical connections and modules that control the door functions and infotainment system.

Your horn has stopped working, which prevented you from warning another driver and nearly caused a collision. This problem appears to be occurring frequently in 2024 Sorento models. You'll need to have the horn system inspected and repaired, which may involve checking the horn relay, wiring, or replacing the horn itself.

Both horn units in your 2024 Kia Sorento have failed and need to be replaced, as confirmed by the dealership. You've been driving without a working horn while waiting for replacement parts to arrive, which could be a safety concern in traffic situations. The repair will involve replacing both horn assemblies, which typically takes a few days for parts availability.

Your panoramic sunroof suddenly shattered while you were driving on the highway, with no apparent cause. Glass fell into the car onto you, your pregnant wife, and your daughter, and the loud explosion nearly caused you to lose control of the vehicle. The dealership hasn't inspected it yet, but you've heard this may be a recurring issue. A repair would likely involve replacing the entire sunroof glass panel and frame assembly.

Filed: Nov 2025

Your panoramic roof glass spontaneously shattered while driving with no impact from outside objects, which startled you and nearly caused you to lose control of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed nothing external caused the breakage, but Kia is refusing to cover it under warranty. This appears to be a defect in the glass or its installation rather than normal wear or damage.

Filed: Dec 2025

Your panoramic sunroof panel spontaneously shattered while driving at highway speed. The incident occurred without any prior warning or apparent cause. This is a serious safety concern that requires immediate inspection and replacement of the sunroof assembly.

Filed: Jul 2025

Your windshield developed a large crack on the driver's side while the vehicle was parked outside, with no visible impact point or chip to explain how it happened. The crack appeared spontaneously without any apparent cause or collision. This could indicate a manufacturing defect or weakness in the glass that failed under normal conditions. A windshield replacement will likely be necessary to restore visibility and structural integrity.

While driving on the interstate at 65 mph in normal weather conditions with your moonroof fully open, the moonroof suddenly exploded without warning, showering you and your vehicle with glass. There was no apparent cause like road debris or rocks, and the sudden failure created a loud noise similar to a gunshot. The repair will likely involve replacing the entire moonroof panel and inspecting the roof frame for damage.

CrashFiled: Jan 2026

Your car's forward collision avoidance sensor may be malfunctioning, causing the safety system to incorrectly report blockages and potentially fail to prevent collisions. Your vehicle also has an emission system leak that Kia is refusing to cover under warranty. The dealer has declined to repair or disable the safety features and is unwilling to buy back the vehicle.

CrashFiled: Jan 2026

Your car's automatic braking system unexpectedly engaged and locked the wheels while driving in snow mode, causing the vehicle to lose traction and slide uncontrollably into a tree. The airbags on the passenger side failed to deploy during the collision. No warning lights or messages appeared before the brakes suddenly locked, and the vehicle was declared a total loss by authorities.

CrashFiled: Nov 2025

After a T-bone collision on the driver side that caused your vehicle to flip, your seatbelt released unexpectedly and you were ejected through the sunroof. The vehicle then landed on top of you. Despite the vehicle rolling over twice, none of the airbags deployed. This combination of safety system failures put you at serious risk of injury.

Exterior Lighting1 issue
criticalEXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Nov 2025

Your headlights and taillights suddenly went out while you were driving at night, along with your dashboard lights, then came back on a few seconds later. This created a safety risk for you and your child. You believe this is a software issue rather than a problem with the lights themselves, but the dealership is refusing to investigate it as a potential recall issue and instead wants to inspect your headlights. The fix may involve a software update or electrical system diagnostic to identify and resolve the lighting control issue.

NHTSA #: 11698885
Steering1 issue
criticalSTEERING
Filed: Nov 2025

Your steering wheel suddenly pulls to the right at random times, lasting 3-5 seconds, and you have to grip hard to keep control. Your dashboard shows no warning lights, and three dealerships haven't been able to identify the cause. When power steering assistance drops, it becomes harder to steer in tight situations or emergencies, which increases crash risk. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and repairing the power steering system, which could be electrical or hydraulic components.

NHTSA #: 11698072
Seat Belts1 issue
criticalSEAT BELTS
Filed: Aug 2025

Both front seat belts in your 2024 Kia Sorento were installed backwards at the factory, with the buckles facing inward instead of outward. This defect was present since the vehicle was new but only discovered in August 2025 and confirmed by a Kia dealership. In a crash, these improperly installed seat belts may not function correctly and could fail to protect occupants. Your dealership will need to remove and reinstall the seat belt assemblies with the buckles facing the correct direction.

After an oil change at 8,000 miles, your car's oil change warning light wasn't reset by the service center, leaving you uncertain about other warning lights. While driving on an interstate in Florida, your car began making noise, then smoking, and the front right area caught fire, causing you to be hospitalized with smoke inhalation. The vehicle is still being held in Florida while Kia engineers review inspection reports, but you haven't received updates on the cause or resolution for over a month.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your vehicle experiences jerky acceleration, sudden power loss, and jolting movements while driving, creating a serious safety concern. These symptoms suggest a fuel or engine control system issue that needs immediate attention. The problem may require fuel system diagnostics, fuel injector cleaning, or engine control module reprogramming.

Filed: Aug 2025

Your 2024 Kia Sorento experienced sluggish acceleration and loss of power after an unknown oil additive was added during a routine oil change. When the vehicle was taken to a dealer for service, metal shavings were found in the oil, suggesting internal engine wear or damage. The issue has not yet been fully diagnosed, and Kia has been notified. Resolving this will likely require an engine inspection, possible oil system flush, and potentially engine repair or replacement depending on what's causing the metal debris.

Filed: Jul 2025

Your vehicle may hesitate and have trouble shifting smoothly, especially when accelerating from a stop. In one instance, the transmission failed to upshift and felt like it was in neutral, preventing acceleration and creating a dangerous situation on a busy road. After putting the vehicle in park and restarting it, the transmission worked again. The issue may involve transmission fluid level, filter condition, or internal transmission problems that need diagnosis.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your Electronic Brake Preference (EBP) warning light is coming on while you drive. The dealership has identified fault codes but won't repair the issue unless the light is actively on. You can temporarily turn the light off by stopping and toggling the EBP switch, which suggests the switch or its sensor isn't working properly. The fix will likely involve replacing the EBP switch or diagnosing and repairing the sensor circuit that controls it.
