Your vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures where it won't start and loses all electrical power without warning. The main electrical system appears to fail suddenly, leaving your car completely inoperable. You've had to take it to the dealership multiple times for the same issue, with extended periods out of service. This could involve replacing or repairing the battery, alternator, or main electrical connections to restore reliable power.

Your vehicle suddenly shut down while you were driving without any warning, leaving you stranded on the roadside. The engine wouldn't restart and smoke was coming from the engine area. The dealership found that the engine wiring harness had burned and failed, causing a complete loss of power while driving — a serious safety hazard. The fix will involve replacing the damaged engine wiring harness.

The vehicle has experienced recurring safety-related issues associated with the hybrid electrical and propulsion systems. During normal operation, warning messages related to the hybrid system appeared, and the vehicle entered reduced functionality or became unreliable to operate. These conditions created concern about potential loss of propulsion while driving. In addition to propulsion concerns, the vehicle was subject to manufacturer recalls related to the high-voltage battery system, including warnings regarding battery overheating and potential fire risk. Recall-related service was performed by an authorized dealer; however, safety concerns persisted after service was completed, and confidence in the safe operation of the vehicle was not restored. The ongoing nature of the electrical and hybrid system issues, combined with recall notices involving battery fire risk, created a safety concern for continued use of the vehicle, particularly due to the possibility of vehicle malfunction or battery-related hazards during normal operation or while parked. No crash or injury occurred, but the condition raised ongoing safety concerns. The issue has occurred more than once and was not permanently resolved despite dealer inspection and recall-related service.
Screens switches to Italian, also screens freeze or go blank, Front Collision Warning (FCW) light illuminates and can't be turned off. Bluetooth randomly disconnects, Auto door locks don't engage; paddle shifters for manual gear selection cease functioning, pedestrian avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and high-beam assist stop working; memory seats unexpectedly adjust while driving. I have to bring the car to the dealer to fix this, this happens every 14 days or so.
The vehicle losses propulsion. The EV battery drains rapidly. Electronics and hazards will not turn off at times. The head unit screen and user interface is unstable and in consist. Instrument cluster provides has had previous failures.
Driving home and car had a sudden loss of power randomly while driving. It would not restart until 5-10 minutes later despite multiple start/stop attempts. On the screen it stated to “plug in to condition battery.” We were in the left lane on a busy road with construction and were almost rear ended multiple times while car was not functional. Have had multiple issues with battery on this 4xe - did recent software update at dealer. I have taken it to dealer previously for battery code (service battery) and they stated they can see code, but unsure of what problem is. No warning lights prior to incident. It sounds like through reviewing on internet this is a common problem with 4xe vehicles and if it hasn’t killed someone yet, it certainly will. We did call 911 for assistance due to the vehicle being disabled in middle of highway, but no official report was made.
Timing cover leak, replaced by dealer once covered under warranty. Few months later same leak occurred in the same park after dealer replacement. Back to the dealer to have checked, dealer found that the head gasket during manufacture/casting has defect causing the head gasket to protrude into the mounting surface for the timing cover gasket/seal causing improper seal and securement. Dealer got Jeep engineers involved and found it was during manufacture and assembly/casting process. New head gasket being replaced and installed inspection of all mounting surfaces on cylinders valves and pistons for additional damage, and replacing timing cover gasket again. This caused loss of engine oil over time even after dealer fix and replacement the first time, this could cause drivers to not know they are low on engine oil causing potential catastrophic engine damage or failure/seizing during normal operating conditions. This is a common failure in the Jeep 4xe of timing cover seal issues and leaks.
The car will cut off and loose power due to the battery issue It has been in the shop 5 or 6 times for this issue and some of the stays were over 30 days at a time They said they have no fix for the repair needed not to drive it but no one can make payments on a car and not drive it for months waiting on a repair. They refused to buy the car back or replace it with a new one.
After dealer installed recall 24V-720 on 1/15/2025, I started seeing Red Wrench light and warning to Service Hybrid System a few times each month. The warnings only flashed for a few seconds and disappeared - no service engine light. Also, the vehicle failed to charge about half the time. In early May, I was driving (in hybrid mode) about 45 miles per hour, and the Red Wrench light and warning to Service Hybrid System flashed and disappeared. The car would NOT accelerate! I DRIFTED to a safe spot, turned off the car, and restarted and now could accelerate. I was lucky! I brought the vehicle to Jeep on May 19, 2025. It was there for about 10 days and they found nothing - not able to reproduce and no errors logged, etc. They created a STAR Case (#1020705742) and still no solution. This is exactly recall 25V-576. The vehicle always charges now even though Jeep says they only cleared other errors. I brought the vehicle to Jeep on September 10 and they didn't see any saved errors. NO updates to STAR Case. I continue to see the Red Wrench light and warning to Service Hybrid System every week or so. But, have only lost power once. I'm afraid to drive the vehicle - always looking for a place to safely stop. How can a vehicle lose power and not log a Service Engine error! I need a FIX! I looked at selling the vehicle but it has lost a lot of value likely due to all the recalls. I believe the battery has issues and should be replaced. Recall 24V-720 only installed software to watch the battery. However, nothing is ever logged.
On September 10th, 2025, at approximately 7:45am, I was driving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe at 57 mph on the freeway during heavy traffic. The “Service Hybrid Electrical System” warning appeared, and the vehicle immediately stalled and forced itself into emergency park while in motion. This sudden failure created a severe safety hazard for myself and surrounding drivers. I experienced an anxiety attack from the incident and had to call my husband for help. This is not the first time the vehicle has stalled, but it is the most dangerous occurrence to date. This vehicle is unsafe and poses a life-threatening risk on public roads.
Driving and engine shut off in the middle of the road. Vehicle indicated “service hybrid system.” Was able to restart vehicle after a few minutes.
I am a victim of SUA (sudden unintended acceleration. I entered my driveway and had my foot on the brake petal. Before I could shift into Park, the vehicle revved to a high RPM and then took off like a rocket. Brakes were initially hard to press and then the petal went to the floor, and I lost the brakes. This all happened very quickly and took me by surprise. I crashed through a double cyclone gate, closed garage door, back of the garage, double fence in back of garage, neighbors jacuzie and shed, hit the side of another neighbor's house and AC unit. It seemed that the power train electronics malfunctioned and caused all of this. Progressive insurance took procession of the vehicle and declared it a total loss.
While driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and control. The “Service Hybrid System” warning began flashing, and I experienced a complete powertrain failure. As the vehicle coasted down to under 5 mph, it abruptly slammed into the electronic parking brake and came to a hard stop. This created a serious safety hazard not only for me but for other drivers on the road. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where it required a jump-start to regain power. The dealer has been unable to replicate the issue, and no diagnostic trouble codes were found during their scan. Despite this, the failure was severe and unpredictable. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the event. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection.
Multiple warnings with the service hybrid system alert coming on the dash. Code B273C-00 was confirmed by the technician at the Napleton Jeep service department. Vehicle can shut off at any time at any speed and there is no resolution at this time to fix the issue. When accelerating over uneven surfaces, the vehicle bucks back and forth violently. This concern was verified with the technician at Napleton Jeep. The shop Foreman contacted Chrysler zone engineering and confirmed that they are aware of this issue but there is no current resolution for this issue. This is highly dangerous when pulling out into traffic.
On three different occasions, the Jeep randomly turned off on its own. Each time I was stopped, so thankfully I was not injured. I brought it to two different dealerships, one in May 2025 and one in July 2025, and neither of them could fix it. The last dealership advised me not to drive the vehicle due to the safety implications of a stall during driving due to "the digital crash input issue". As a result, I sold my Jeep and bought another vehicle. The vehicle was still under warranty when I sold it.
Car has a defective hybrid battery that is unrepairable by manufacturer and the vehicle will turn off while driving
While driving in Hybrid mode, the Jeep threw itself into park. I was at the middle of an intersection. I put it back in drive, then it did it again once I started moving. 1. The hybrid mode threw the car into park while moving. 2. This happened to me a few times in a row, but once in the middle of a major intersection. I was lucky there were no cars that crashed into me. 3. I have brought this into Chrysler, Jeep, Doge of Paulding (Georgia) and they have reached out to the engineers at Chrysler. The service department is telling me that Chrysler is telling them there is no fix to this. I put in a ticket with Chrysler as well and they confirmed this. My ticket number is 93581933 4. the vehicle has only been inspected by the service department at the dealership. 5. I did get a hybrid engine maintenance light one time when it went into park. But not each time it did it.
Within days after completing the 95b recall (24v-720) on my Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV , the vehicle would periodically flash an error message saying ”service hybrid system” or something to that effect. It would illuminate for just a few seconds. On May 21, I took the vehicle back to the dealership (Brigham-Gill, Natick, MA). They read several codes and after conferring with Jeep, said the vehicle is unsafe to drive. It has remained there parked in their backlot as of July 15. The dealership is awaiting guidance from Jeep and informed me they have several others in the same situation. So there were few issues here 1) if I hadn’t returned to the dealership to ask about these brief flashing messages, I would not have known that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. These messages never stayed illuminated for more than a few seconds, and there is no residual “check engine” light. 2) it is incorrect to say that the 95B recall addressed the issue of the failing batteries if it renders the vehicle in operable. 3) the 95B recall patch software was released in January 2025. I find it hard to believe that as of mid July they’ve been unable to find out why it doesn’t work in all the vehicles as intended. This leads me to question the thoroughness of the regression testing before it was released.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the unknown warning lights indicated powertrain failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle had been scheduled for an upcoming diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,089.
The red wrench light keeps coming on, Hybrid system needs repair. It looses power for a short period of time, every time has been on the freeway. It makes a hugh crunch noise(transmission) and slams into gear. It is available for inspection, currently at dealership, it has been there for last week. This problem has been persistent, its been in many times for this issue. Chrysler told me they do not have a fix. It is all over the chat forums. We do not feel safe driving this car because it looses power temporarily and on the freeway. Many others are having problems with it stopping from a loss of power. It has been inspected by the dealership and in for repairs many times. This vehicle has been in the dealership on a regular basis since it was new. It has always had a power train issue, clunky and loss of power. Now it is worse and they don't have a repair. It has also had engine lights coming on and off. Had issue with having to put it in park turn off and turn back on to get it in gear. The loss of power on the freeway is the persistent issue right now. These cars need pulled off the roads until they are fixed!
Vehicle suffers from a documented hybrid defect (DTC B273C-00) that causes loss of electric propulsion, disables hybrid modes, and triggers "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warnings. The problem first appeared around Feb 2025 and was confirmed by FCA’s own STAR bulletins and dealership diagnostics. No validated fix exists; dealership only cleared the fault code temporarily. The defect led to: • Power loss during highway merge on [XXX], with children in the car • Sudden unintended acceleration on [XXX] • Persistent warnings and failure to operate in advertised hybrid/electric modes for over 120+ days FCA refused to repurchase, replace, or permanently repair, despite acknowledging the defect and safety risk in internal documents. The vehicle remains in ICE-only mode, depriving it of the key safety and efficiency features it was designed to provide. The defect significantly raises risk of collision due to unpredictable propulsion response, and no dealership or FCA representative provided written certification the vehicle is safe in all drive modes. Vehicle purchased in Wisconsin but always registered and operated exclusively in Illinois. Arbitration through NCDS confirmed the defect exists but denied relief, citing insufficient corroboration. Problem was reproduced and confirmed by certified dealership and documented in service records. This complaint is part of an ongoing concern that hybrid system EMI issues (like DTC B273C-00) pose systemic safety risk and remain unresolved. Driving vehicle and it lost all power. Warning light for Service PHEV came on solid on dash. Switched to ESave and was able to drive approx 2 blocks and vehicle lost power again in middle of road. Shifted to neutral, restarted and was able to side of road. Called tow company to deliver to dealer. Side note- vehicle was in dealer on 6/30 with flashing Service PHEV light; dealer ran code and returned with DTC of B273C-00 (Digital Crash Input). Dealer stated that vehicle is going into a “limp mode” due to 95B software update, and that there is not a fix, and other vehicles are at dealership unable to repair. When asked for advice what I should do, the response was “ do not take a long road trip”. I drove approx 60 miles since and the vehicle went into solid limp mode. Being evaluated at dealership currently.
Last week I was driving 70MPH on the highway when suddenly I got the red wrench icon with the message "Service Hybrid Electrical System" on the dashboard. After about 7 seconds I then got a "Put foot on brake and press start" message on the screen - while still going 70MPH on the highway. At that point the car died. I had no power - the accelerator pedal did nothing. Luckily, I was able to pull over to the shoulder and stop. Then I did what it said and pressed the brake + start button. The car came back to life, but I didn't have the full hybrid system - I only had gas - the car was not using any electrical power as the battery level remained constant and did not drop as I drove. I continued for another 20 minutes where I stopped for lunch. When I returned to the car it started up normally and continued to run normally after that. This is the 3rd of 4th time the red wrench icon with the Service Hybrid system warning coming up, but on the previous times the message went away after about 5 seconds and the car drove normally. This is the only time that it caused the car to completely die on my while on the highway. Apparently, this has been happening to a *lot* of people after Jeep issued a software update to address the 95b recall last year. Many owners are now afraid to drive their Jeep 4xe for fear of it suddenly dying on the highway at high speeds.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? When driving down a busy road, the car completely stalled with loss of power steering, unable to accelerate or brake, power completely lost in car with all safety lights illuminated on the dashboard. Eventually brakes returned, able to stop car. Unable to restart and loss of power for windows. After several attempts, restarted car with warning lights still present- moved to side of Road. Currently at dealer for inspection- stated that problem was "digital crash input code failure" and that there is not a fix for this at this time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car stalled with complete loss of control in the middle of traffic, while accelerating at approximately 15-25 mph. This could have caused an accident, but luckily did not. However, car was stalled in traffic for about 30 mins and unable to move car at all- blocking traffic on busy street. If happened on highway, could have been much worse and also had the potential to cause an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem was confirmed by dealer, and said that there is "no fix". According to them, all recalls have been fixed in this vehicle prior to incident and should have fixed this problem by replacing the battery. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle has been inspected by both dealership service and Chrysler/ Stellantis engineers. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There was 1 warning light message about "EV system hybrid control" needs service, but disappeared after 30 seconds and this appeared about 1 week prior to incident.
My car was showing a "service hybrid system" warning light in the months of April and May 2025 intermittantly along with a slight loss of power. I took it to the dealership and was told its a software issue but it's fine. Stellantis is aware of this issue but there is no fix. I brought it back a week later with the same concerns and reading the document the dealership gave me - the 95B recall fix apparently crashed communication modules with my ORC. I expressed safety concerns. The dealership once again cleared codes and told me it was safe to drive. One week later on May 8, 2025, I was driving home from work. Without warning, the car locked up and went limp in the middle of the road. I went from 35mph to 0mph without seconds. I luckily was not rear ended. The dealership opened up another case with STAR. I have since gotten rid of the car due to continuous recalls and issues. I did not feel safe in this car and I feared for myself as well as others on the road. I am only taking the time to report this because there is no fix, my dealership repeadily gave the car back to me (in the notes, it was to be returned to me on 5/12 with no fix), and others are having the same issue.
While the vehicle is in operation, and without warning, it loses all motive power and coasts to a stop. A warning message is displayed on dash: “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System.” The vehicle must be turned off then back on before motive power is restored. This is an extreme safety issue, if it were to occur at highway speeds amidst traffic, the likelihood of serious accident is high. Jeep dealer service says this is a known issue with many Jeep 4xe vehicles right now and no fix is known. This event has reoccurred more than 4 times. The most recent was 5/9/25.
Once a week or so, the vehicle will experience motive power loss while driving. Typically, it's for 3 or 4 seconds and is accompanied by a blinking red "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning light on the dashboard. This is very dangerous because for those 3 or 4 seconds, the vehicle will not accelerate/maintain speed. I've had the vehicle at the dealership for the same reason multiple times. The dealership has tried to identify the root cause but so far has not been successful.
We opened a warranty service case #92312434 yesterdday because case #91655707 was closed prematurely while our vehicle is still in disrepair. Our 2022 Grand Cherokee has been to Lithia Jeep of Reno for warranty service on seven occasions since October 29th, spanning 89 days, for a vibration issue which remains unresolved as of today. The manufacturer is in material breach of 49 U.S. Code § 30120 and refuses to offer a replacement or repurchase despite prima facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time (defined as 60 days).
I was driving in hybrid mode at approximately 50 mph gently accelerating up a gentle hill. All of a sudden, the vehicle lost a significant amount of its motive power and experienced a significant shudder. The power delivery to the vehicle was significantly reduced for 2-3 seconds, puting myself and family at significant risk. The red service hybrid system light lit up on the dashboard and blinked for approximately 5 seconds. The vehicle then returned to normal operation. I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealership the next day and they were not able to find any associated error codes or replicate the issue.
On 12/28/24 we dropped the vehicle off for a check engine light issue + the 95B recall fix. It was discharged on 12/31/24. On 1/9/25 the vehicle lost all power while flashing the red wrech lightning bolt symbol. I had to coast to a stop (I had been exiting the interstate) and had to drive into a pile of recently plowed snow to avoid being rear ended. The vehicle put on the parking brake and the engine had shut off. I turned on the engine after a few moments and it worked fine and I was able to drive it straight to the dealership (2 miles away.) They kept the vehicle for 2 days and could not get the issue to happen again, however they said they re-did the 95B recall and seemed confused about it having been done a few weeks prior. Today on 1/15/25 while driving on the interstate at about 65mph the issue happened again and I had to quickly pull off on the shoulder. The dealership told me to record the issue, but that's impossible while trying to steer it with zero power on the interstate. The same lights flashed (red wrench lightning bolt) and it shut down. Upon restarting it worked as expected. I do not feel safe driving it anymore. The dealership cannot find the issue and I don't want my kids in the vehicle on the off chance I cannot get over, or someone is driving offensivly around me. I am in fear of my life for driving this vehicle so much so that I am considering buying a different car today and letting this one sit until my lease is up. There are no other warning lights at this time on my panel. I will be taking the vehicle back to the service department this afternoon.
Dealer and Jeep have refused to provide a reasonable effort and make reasonable accommodations to address the 95B recall. Parking the vehicle outside endangers my neighborhood as we live near a national forest.
The battery was recalled due to fire risk, but FSA indicated no repairs is available, and advised driver not to charge the car, and not to park it near any structural. I contacted (1) dealer (2) Chrysler capital (3) Jeep customer service. No body can provide any solution for this matter. I would like to have my leased car returned and get compensated for the months that I have already pre-paid (20 months left).
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the computer was reset. The vehicle was driven to the destination. In addition, the radio screen displayed a black screen. The contact stated that the radio had been replaced by the dealer three times; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
The vehicle has intermittent issues whereby it will flash several icons (a Turtle, lightning bolt) and send a error message about throttling, then completely shut down during operation. This has been ongoing since a few months after I received the vehicle. During shut down, the vehicle's power is completely unresponsive, I cannot use gas power to drive the car, it simply becomes unresponsive and non-operational. These shut downs have occurred while idling at traffic lights, while driving at low speeds on residential roads and, the past 4 experienced shut downs, on the highway. [XXX] ; [XXX] MA, [XXX], and [XXX]). These shut downs have occurred with my 7-year old in the car, causing a significant safety risk to everyone in the vehicle. The dealer has received several reports from me (which they will not document), and it has been in for repair on a minimum of 5 occasions. Each time, with one exception, the service team tells me "the codes are gone" and they can't do anything. On one occasion, the care shut down on [XXX] and I drove immediately to the dealership, whereby they reported the issued as related to the "MAP" and fixed. It is not. The car has been recalled for this exact issue, and went in for the repair, which did not fix it. The safety risk of this vehicle is far beyond acceptable, my family is at risk every time I need to drive it. I should be able to have safe use of the car I have paid a significant amount of money for. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
For our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe: Vehicle failed to accelerate. The engine would kind of rev but no forward motion. This occurred after driving approximately 2 miles from my house. i had just made a right turn at a busy intersection and driven approximately 100 yards when the car would not accelerate. This occurred on a very busy street. Luckily, I was able to coast to the side of the road. After shutting the car off and starting it again, it was able to again accelerate. This was scary as my wife and daughter were in the car. It has not yet been reproduced by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages. This seems familiar to a recall that is issued for same year Jeep Wrangler 4Xe models.
Bought vehicle from Joe Machens Chrysler, Columbia, MO. [XXX]. The net day after a long drive out of town, the owner put vehicle in reverse to leave home and there was an issue. The vehicle sounded like it had “run over a metal garbage can.” It vibrated the floorboard as well. It happens only when the car is in reverse. It happens immediately when you try to back up. It is available for inspection on request. Safety is not an issue, the dealer could not reproduce the sound (owner left vehicle at dealer overnight. It was only inspected by the car dealer. There were no warning signs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There have now been at least three incidents where the accelerator is pressed and the vehicle does not respond for an extended period of time, then overreacts and launches the vehicle forward unpredictably. Most recently, leaving a parking lot, I pressed the accelerator gently as I normally would, the vehicle just rolled down to the road, no power. As oncoming traffic was coming (now about 5 seconds later), I pressed the pedal further, almost to the floor, the engine engaged and launched the car forward. This has happened in traffic circles, and produces a delay long enough for other drivers to sound their horn, as my vehicle refuses to move for at least 3-5 seconds. This has resulted in many close calls when oncoming traffic is coming and my vehicle will not move as it should - and this type of incident occurs unpredictably.
Engine got really loud but idled would got shift out of 1st gear. Happened why accelerating after stopping. Traffic was moving at 45 -55 miles past me. And I was unable to pull over. I got to the next red light. Put the vehicle in park then back into drive and was able to drive to the closest dealer. They found no trouble codes when plugging into the computer. The vehicle has not been inspected by a mechanic or scheduled . I am waiting for an appointment confirmation in July. Not warning lights are messages display on the dash when the problem occurs. The loud engine and failure to shift into gear are the only symptoms
It is easy, when driving in automatic mode, to accidently touch one of the paddle shifters. In doing so, the automatic transmission disengages, and the transmission suddenly switches to control by the paddle shifters. If the driver is unaware of this, the vehicle can lose motive power if the gear then in effect is no longer fitting for the vehicles speed and the engine's RPM. I recently took the vehicle in for service of this issue because my wife had experienced this while driving on Interstate 95, in Maryland. The vehicle stopped responding to the accelerator, so she pulled onto the shoulder, put the vehicle in park and turned it off. When she turned it back on, it was back in automatic mode, and she was able to resume driving. The technician and service manager advised that when this occurs, the vehicle can be returned to automatic mode by pulling the right paddle forward. That information does not appear in the vehicle manual, or on the Jeep website. The technician and service manager also advised that there is no way to disable the paddles to prevent the problem from repeating, Other drivers have experienced this. See [XXX] . I believe it is a serious safety problem. To that point, there is a pending safety recall -- NHTSA 23V- 412 (copy attached) -- that addresses loss of motive power for another reason. Here is the description in the recall notice: The transmission control module and the hybrid control processor on your vehicle [1] may experience loss of communication caused by diagnostic reactions to faults resulting in an engine shut down condition. Engine shut down may result in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The sudden enabling of the paddle shifter and resulting loss of motive power is also a safety issue that needs prompt attention. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after driving the vehicle for approximately one hour, there was a knocking sound coming from the front of the vehicle. A knocking sound was heard while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the sound ceased after shifting to park. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after a computer update was performed as part of a Service Campaign. No additional information was available. The failure mileage was 10,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at 64 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate then the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed with a transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
RE: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe (hybrid) This complaint involves a well-known defect and malfunction endemic to the Jeep Wrangler 4Xe with the identical powertrain and software, and a well-documented recall of the Jeep Wrangler, but for some reason, does not yet extend to the Grand Cherokee 4Xe model for identical symptoms and malfunction behavior. The associated recall for the Wrangler is NHTSA campaign number: 22V865000. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall ZB7, however the Grand Cherokee with the identical powertrain-- has yet to be recalled, however has the same defective issues. This is brand new off-the-showroom 2022 Grand Cherokee 4Xe, and the malfunctioning behavior began within the first 10 days-- at 179 miles (3/4 tank of fuel), with the vehicle going into the FORM (Fuel/Oil Refresh Mode), depriving the vehicle of electric mode or electric assist. The vehicle message stated: "Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable - Fuel & Oil Refresh in Progress" Other dangerous symptoms and malfunctions associated with the defective/malfunctioning software have occurred: (a) A single instance of a "limp-home" mode (25 mph max on a main thoroughfare), and; (b) several instances of failure of the transmission to shift into a higher gear-- causing the engine to over-rev (over max redline RPM) to maintain a highway speed). At 331 miles, the vehicle was refueled for the first time, and the FORM warning message disappeared with the fresh refuel, however the vehicle hasn't been driven enough to determine of the transmission issues were resolved with the refuel. Nonetheless, the FORM was a malfunction that occurred at 3/4 tank with only 179 miles on the vehicle, and the other malfunctions are presumed to be associated with the primary defect. Having less than 3K miles in the odometer, the engine started to develop valve train noise that worsens as the engine gets hotter, taken to the dealership to check on the concern plus no start, had the battery replaced after staying 3 weeks in the dealership, supposedly the noise was normal, took it to another dealership as the first one left a few things not fixed, once again i was told the noise was normal, The noise started to get louder as miles were being put on the car, people would ask if the car was a diesel powered one, even the service advisor of the dealership were the car remains asked me if the engine was diesel when she heard the noise. At idling speed the engine is not running smoothly you can hear cylinders misfiring on the exhaust, oil temp remains over 240 when driven, 245 just by pressing the gas to pass a car, oil pressure at idling speed has gone lower as time goes by reaching at times 28 psi. Noise varies when the engine switches in between 8 cyl or 4 cyl mode, in 4 cyl mode the whole car vibrates really bad and loud until you hit the gas to get the engine out of the 4 cyl mode. Service engine light came on once at idling speed when the idling speed became erratic. Engine stalled once. Car in the dealership since Jan 23 2023, was called exactly one month later to pick it up as per they report everything was ok, asked to try another one with the same engine mine has so i could hear the "normal" noise, they had none to check, the shop foreman went on a test ride with me to confirm the issue and then he acknowledged that the noise was weird, so i was asked to leave it, two months already went by and so far no word on the issue, the car has not being further diagnosed by the 'ENGINE EXPERT" will have to go through the lemon law as they just don't say a word or give me options. Grand Cherokee Summit reserve 5.7 Hemi engine. as of today 3/29/2023 still not diagnosed
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and a software update was performed on the vehicle. The contact stated that several months after the software update, the vehicle failed to start up after multiple attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where and remained in dealer possession. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
The vehicle has had a transmission replaced, a transfer case replaced, and the problem still exists and is considered normal. When the vehicle is going through the gears, you hear gear-shifting noises and a shudder.
This is my Personal Assessment: My vehicle didn't visit the dealer yet and there are no warning lights of any kind and the answer to all the above bullets is NO. Two main issues, 1) Intermittently, when press the gas pedal from idle stop @ traffic light, you will the engine revs but the vehicle either doesn't move or move very slow. In either case, relasing gas and pressing again remediate the situation. This occasional can produce a dangeourous situation and put lives to risk. 2) the second issue is regarding Active Driving Assist System ADAS, also occasionally when the system is all green, steering wheel and all, and ahead of me there is 1/4 of a mile to red traffic light and the road is open for me. I am driving about 50 miles, now approaching the stopped traffic, and suddenly the vehicle start to speed up when it was slowing down for the traffic a moment ago. Something very unusual, I abruptly press the brake to force manual stop. The car then doesn't show this symptom for a few days but occasionally it comes back again.
