AIR BAGS

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Hyundai Tucson vehicles manufactured January 3, 2011, through December 23, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the air bag assembly installed in the steering wheel may come loose from its mounting.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the bolts that secure the driver's air bag assembly, free of charge. The recall began on May 9, 2014. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 118.

During a moderate to serious front-end crash, your steering wheel airbag partially deployed—it came out of the wheel but failed to fully inflate. No other airbags deployed, and there were no warning lights beforehand indicating a problem with the system. The seatbelt tensioner did activate and helped protect you. A full inspection of the airbag system should be performed to determine why it didn't inflate properly.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM SAN FRANCISCO, I LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO AND ONLY DRIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO, HOWEVER, THERE'S NO DEALERSHIPS THAT CAN SERVICE MY CAR IN SAN FRANCISCO. I'M BEING ASKED TO DRIVE OVER 30 MILES AWAY ACROSS THE BRIDGE AND I HAVE A PHOBIA OF DRIVING ACROSS BRIDGES. I WILL NOT ASK ANYONE TO DRIVE MY CAR. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND ASKED WHAT THEY WILL DO TO GET MY CAR SERVICED, AND MY CALL IS BEING ESCALATED TO ANOTHER PERSON AND I'LL RECEIVE A CALL WITHIN 3-5 DAYS. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE TO HOPE THAT MY CAR DOESN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND IF I DO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, WILL MY AIRBAG WORK? THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID THEY WILL SEND OVER A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP MY CAR, AND DELIVER IT BACK TO ME. THAT WASN'T DONE OF COURSE, BECAUSE I'M NOT BUYING A NEW CAR. IT IS NOT MY FAULT THEY DON'T HAVE A DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR ANY LONGER. WHAT IS THE MANUFACTURE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN MAKING THIS HAPPEN? *TR

WE WERE GOING THROUGH A GREEN TRAFFIC LIGHT, WE WERE ABOUT THE 6TH CAR THROUGH THE LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE COMING OUT OF NOWHERE RAN THE RED LIGHT FROM THE CROSS STREET AT ABOUT 55MPH, DID NOT TRY TO STOP, WE SLOWED TO ALMOST A STOP AND SWERVED TO AVOID THE PERSON. SHE DID NOT TRY TO STOP AND T-BONED US IN THE DRIVERS WHEEL AND DOOR, BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT ACTIVATE, EVEN WITH THIS HIGH SPEED COLLISION. THIS IS THE SECOND ACCIDENT OF THIS KIND WHERE THEY DID NOT ACTIVATE. THE FIRST WAS IN JANUARY AND WE WERE REAR ENDED AT A HIGH SPEED WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. *TR
