Your car's front hood paint is chipping and peeling. Your seat belt doesn't fasten reliably every time you try to use it, which is a safety concern. Additionally, your headlights and interior lights appear dimmer than normal. These issues will likely require repainting the hood, inspection and possible replacement of the seat belt mechanism, and diagnosis of the electrical system for the lighting problem.

Your brake light sockets are melting and warping, making it difficult to replace the bulbs. Additionally, your brake lights stay on even after you turn off the engine, which drains your battery and may cause electrical short circuits. The issue likely involves replacing the melted light sockets and checking the brake light switch or wiring for a stuck connection.

The driver side seat belt wont click and stay in almost half the time i drive my car… after reading other complaints its looking like this is a common thing. Within the past year ive noticed lots of times that when im going to lock my car with my fob, it wont lock and its because the passenger side lock button on the inside of door is in a stuck between lock/unlock position… resulting in me having to lean over to manually unlock the door even when I’ve unlocked my car with both the fob and inside button… all the sudden i noticed too that my speed control will not work at all and be completely unresponsive most times. It will RANDOMLY work when i try checking it on highway. ive had SO many issues with my taillights going/burning out constantly and now my headlights have gotten really dim. Im scared to drive at night now. They are much more dimmer than a cars should look like usually. Within the past week i just noticed a random big crack in the dashboard on the passenger side as well… noticed that seems to be a common thing and concern of safety with lots of others who own and drive this same vehicle… my first thought was “what if this crack will effect the airbag and make it deploy?” The crack is literally right over and above where the airbag is… plan on trying to take my car to place on OKC that did the anti-theft system software update on my car… but my car has gotten so bad when driving ill be lucky if it makes it there in one piece. My car has started to shake SO bad when im driving!!! Almost “jumping” at times it feels like. This car has been a pretty good car but when there are MULTIPLE complaints of the SAME issues that continuously keep costing us money and its not because of our doing and in fact the manufacturers FAULTY equipment and parts that they used to make these cars… they should most definitely be doing recalls and fixing these problems at no cost!

As stated by other owners the brake lights come on and off I have had the bulb replaced several times. I wiggle the blub it comes on and off. This is a danger to cars behind me as the brakes lights are not working properly I believe there should be a recall as many owners are having and have had the same issue with this problem. My sister has a Hyundai not a Sonata had the same issue but her type of Hyundai was recalled for fault wiring. The Sonatas should be recalled also.

We have had issues with the tail lights of the car not working properly. The lights have had issues with the daytime running lights not working or the brake lights not working. When we took it in they said that there was an issue with the wiring harness. I also noticed 4 separate hyundai sonata vehicles with they same body style in the last 2 days that appeared to be having the same issues. I think it is something to be checked out to see if there is an issue there because it is a major safety concern.
Break lights don’t go off.

Tail light sockets overheats causing bulb to become stuck and whole tail light assembly needs replacement
Brake lights frequently to go out. When I am driving on the road it is a game to find a Sonata with all 3 taillights functioning correctly. Many of the other Sonatas I pass on the road has a taillight that is out. Bulbs burn out but I have replaced my bulbs at least 7 times in the past 6 years.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated after the vehicle was parked, the brake lights were illuminated without the brake pedal being depressed. The failure caused the battery to be drained; requiring the vehicle to be jump started. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not been taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched the failure online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V759000 (Exterior Lighting). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The bulbs keep blowing out and now the wiring harness is burnt. I have replaced bulbs multiple times and I have an upcoming appointment at my local dealership on April 4th. My concern is I thought bulbs were supposed to be replaced every few years not 7-8 in one month. Now due to the fact that the lighting housing assembly is melted it will not hold any bulbs. I have a small child that sits and the back and has a medical condition and I am scared to drive (at night especially) if he needs to go to the emergency room/doctors appointments due to the fact someone may hit me from behind because I have no lights back there. Where I stay every time I see a Hyundai Sonata it never fails they are always missing a light in the back due to the light assembly has melted. This is a safety concern for not only my children but for me. I am also concerned that due to it being melted it could potentially catch something on fire.
The contact's son owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated when she arrived at her residence, she noticed that her son's rear brake lights illuminated while the vehicle was turned off. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated her son placed a can on the brake pedal to turn off the brake lights. The contact stated she had to disconnect the battery and reconnect before using the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V759000 (Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.
My brake lights constantly burns out and I’m having to repair them every month. My brake lights also stay illuminated when I am pressing the brake which does not show that I am stopping or slowing down. This is a MAJOR safety issue that needs to be repaired
The brake peddle stopper gets worn out and the car stops accelerating. Activation of the engine management system's brake pedal override feature causes the car to not accelerate, brake lights stay on, and car turns on without touching the brake.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated he would need to replace both rear brake lights every two months. The contact stated recently he noticed a burning smell and saw the plastic cover on the bulb was melted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
3 of my light lamps where burning and front headlight could have start a fire
Exact same symptoms as NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 15V759000 (Hyundai recall 136 - described below). The car was previously repaired for this issue. The brake lights come on without any pressure applied to the brake petal, both when the car is off or running. Besides the critical issues stated below, it also causes the brake light bulbs to burn out prematurely, and drains the car battery. Hyundai Motor America "Hyundai" is recalling certain model 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released. Consequence: If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash. Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad with an improved part, free of charge. The recall began on January 6, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 136.
The rear brake lights burned out can't replace the light because the wiring harness melted and y'all no longer sell replacement wiring harness at the store or dealership for my vehicle make and model I was told I would have to make a out of pocket costly repair to install a new model wiring harness. I keep getting pulled over by the cops cause I don't have break lights. Worse case someone could run into the back of me. This issue is a Hyundai issue. It's so many Hyundai sonata riding around without break lights. Please fix this issue.

Break lights repeatingly burn out on both sides. Replace it and a few weeks later, need replacing again. It is an ongoing problem and a known defect, but hasn't been recalled yet. This is a safety hazard as you are at risk of being rear ended.
ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I NOTICE A LITTLE SCRATCH ON THE DASHBOARD, AFTER A WHILE I SEE THAT IT WAS A DANGER CRASH AFTER THIS TIME NOW ARE 3 BIG SCRATCHES THAT INTERFERE WITH THE DEPLOYMENT AIRBAGS OF BOTH FROM AIRBAGS IF SPLIT COULD COST BIG INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE .HYUNDAY SAID THEY ARE NOT RESPONSABLE FOR THAT DEFECTIVE PART.(PLASTIC) BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY. ALSO THE LIGHTS NEVER ARE RIGHT TO CAUSE DIFFICULTY AT NIGHT DRIVING ALSO DANGEROUS, THE DEALER SAID THEY ARE OK, BUT THEY ARE NOT IN RIGHT POSITION.
2012 HYUNDAI SONATA ON MAY 8,2020 HYUNDAI REPLACED MY ENGINE DUE TO A RECALL .ON AUGUST 18,2020 I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SMELL OF GAS THAT I SMELLED IN MY CAR . THEY INSPECTED MY VEHICLE AND SAID IT WAS FINE . BUT EVERY SO OFTEN I KEPT SMELLING GAS INSIDE MY CAR BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY LIGHT TURNED ON AND PLUS I THOUGHT IT WAS FINE SINCE HYUNDAI INSPECTED MY CAR BUT FEBRUARY 4, 2021 I WAS PARKED WITH MY VEHICLE RUNNING AND THE FUEL SMELL STARTED GETTING WORSE , ENTERING MY VEHICLE THROUGH THE AIR VENT. MY VEHICLE WOULD SMELL LIKE GAS EVEN WHEN IT WAS TURNED OFF . SO I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND I HEARD LOUD BOILING BUBBLE NOISES INSIDE MY CAR WHICH IS STRANGE. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES TURNED MY CAR ON AND THEN MY THERMOSTAT MAXED OUT ALL THE WAY TO HOT SO I SHUT MY CAR OFF . I CALLLED HYUNDAI & TOOK MY CAR TO THE PALM SPRINGS DEALERSHIP AND THEY INSPECTED IT AND TOLD ME THAT IT'S THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PIPE . MY VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD $1000.00 TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT'S A RECALL. ESPECIALLY SINCE I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE GAS SMELL ON AUGUST 2020 . ALSO MY RIGHT TAIL LIGHT IS COMPLETELY OUT . I REPLACED THE BULBS MULTIPLE TIMES BUT IT ENDED UP BURNING OUT . THE WIRES ARE BURNT AND MELTED. THIS IS CAR IS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS .
BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS GO OUT A LOT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED TO OFTEN. THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHT ARE OUT NOW AND WHEN THE BULB BLEW, IT MELTED THE HOUSING ELEMENT AND CAN'T GET A NEW BULB IN IT. SO NOW THE VEHICLE IS BEING OPERATED WITH ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS.
HAD BACK LIGHT ISSUES FOR TWO YRS NOW LIGHTS GOING OUT HARNESS BURNING UP HAD ONE RECALL FOR WIRING HARNESS . LIGHTS STILL BURNING OUT DIFFERENT SIDE I BELIEVE I FIXED THE OTHER SIDE NOW HAVING TO REPLACE BULBS ON AND OFF NOW IT'S A MELTED BULB SOCKET THEY REPLACED THE BULBS WITH YOUR BULBS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 YRS: WAS TOLD THAT MY MECHANIC CAN HEAR A ROD KNOCKING WHEN I WAS GETTING IT SERVICED WROTE IT SHOULD BE FIXED TOOK TO YOUR DEALERSHIP TOLD NOT LOUD ENOUGH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOT ON TO WAIT TILL IT GOES ON OR IT THROWS A ROD!!!!!! HMM THAT'S SAFE FOR 18 YR OLD,, THEN WHO WILL PAY FOR THE TOWING I LIVE OVER 60 MILES FROM DEALER HOPE IT DOESN'T CATCH ON FIRE WHILE I'M IN IT OR CAUSE A ACCIDENT AND REALLY HURT SOMEONE! CAN'T BELIEVE WE CAN'T DO PREVENTATIVE CARE THIS TO ME IS SO UNSAFE !!! WANT TO KNOW CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK ON THE LIGHT REPAIRS THAT I HAD TO FIX ?
MY WIRING HARNESS ON BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS KEEPS BURNING. I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVER HEADLIGHT, AND ALL BULBS ALL AROUND THE CAR. IVE EVEN CHANGED OUT THE CONNECTOR ON THE BULB OF THE HEADLIGHTS AND NO MATTER WHAT I DO THE WIRE ON THE WIRING HARNESS KEEPS BURNING AND WHEN I USE THE TURN SIGNAL SOMETIMES ALL THE LIGHTING IN MY CAR BLINKS
WE ARE REPLACING BRAKE LIGHTS EVERY OTHER MONTH. THE MODULE THAT HOLDS THE BULB IS MELTING. SEEMS LIKE THIS WOULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNALS ALL LIGHTS GO OFF INSIDE AND OUT. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE WHILE THERE. THIS IS A HAZARD AND CAN CAUSE A COLLISON AT NIGHT. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI. THERE SEEMS TO BE TOO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THESE CARS AND IT SHULD BE LOOKED INTO.
AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNALS OR TRY TO ADJUST YOUR LIGHTS FROM DIM TO BRIGHT AN ELECTRICAL FAULT IN THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH CAUSES ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE INSIDE AND OUT TO GO OUT LEAVING YOU DRIVING WITH NO LIGHTS AT ALL. THIS CONDITION HAPPENED TO ME ON A CITY STREET RULE ROAD THE INTERSTATE IT DOESN'T MATTER IT HAPPENS IF THE CAR IS MOVING OR SITTING STILL IT'S JUST AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
HAVING PURCHASED THE AFOREMENTIONED VIN LAST MONTH, THE BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN THO THE CAR IS OFF, THUS DRAINING THE BATTERY. WITH A HEIGHTENED FEAR OF BEING REAR-ENDED, OR WORSE, FOR THE NOW WE DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE. ALSO, THE CAR WANTS TO STALL WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE ACCELERATION IS DELAYED, THIS AT ANY SPEED. FEARFUL OF THE ENGINE CATCHING AFIRE, WE APPRECIATE POST HASTE. *TR
BRAKES LIGHT STAY ON AFTER IGNITION TURNED OFF. CAR DE-ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER BEING PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BRAKE LAMP BULB WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, BRAKE LAMP WAS STILL INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LAMP WARNING LIGHT REMAINED DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE SOCKET ON EITHER TAILLIGHTS HAS COMPLETELY BURNED OUT CREATING A MULTITUDE OF SAFETY HAZARDS, INCLUDING A FIRE HAZARD. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE BREAK, NEITHER TAIL LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE.
IN JULY 2019 I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NOBODY IN THE CAR AT THAT TIME. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE BRAKE LIGHT WERE TUNING ON EVEN WHEN I WAS NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. IN THE SAME TIME THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL STARTED TO TAKE OVER AND IT REFUSED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT WORK WAS TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN PRESS IT AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WAS BEHAVING VERY STRANGE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS A RUBBER STOPPER THAT KEPT THE BREAK PEDAL IN PLACE. WHEN IT IS WORN, IT BEHAVES AS IF SOMEBODY TRIED TO HIT THE BREAK. AFTER THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS RECALL 136 THE ACCURATELY DESCRIBES MY PROBLEM FOR MY CAR MODEL. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL BUT I GOT NO RESPONSE.
BREAK LIGHTS WON'T SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF IT DRAINS MY BATTERY CAR HAS A HARD TIME DRIVING AT A CERTAIN SEED CONSTANTLY JERKS WHILE DRIVING AND CAR SPEEDS UP WHEN NOT GOING FAST AT TIMES I'VE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY STATED THEY'VE GONE INTO THE CAR TO MANY TIMES I HAVE CHILDREN I CAN NOT KEEP DRIVING THIS CAR LIKE THIS IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN EXCHANGE MY CAR FOR SOMETHING WITH THE SAME VALUE CAR HAD AN ENGINE RECALL THE CAR STARTED SMOKING I FEEL LIKE SOMEONE TAMPERED WITH MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR IN A HALF I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE ISSUES AT ALL
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY VEHICLE IN DEC 2014 I HAVE REPLACED 12 OR MORE LIGHTS BULBS. FRONT HEADLIGHT AND BACK BRAKE LIGHTS. BENTLEY HYUANDAI DEALERSHIP WHO SOLD THE VEHICLE TOLD THE BACK BRAKE LIGHTS ENTIRE CASING HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT MELTED. I JUST CHANGED THE FRONT HEADLIGHT BULBS A MONTH AGO AND THE NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT IS OUT AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. THEREFORE I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING AND NEITHER CAN THE OTHER DRIVERS SEE MY VEHICLE. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING INCIDENT. THIS SAFETY HAZARD IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT BENTLEY HYUNDAI AT THE END OF LAST MONTH AND NOW MY HEADLIGHTS ARE OUT AGAIN.
FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN BUYING LIGHT BULBS FOR THE CAR. THEY ARE EITHER BLOWING ARE THERE IS SOMETHING THAT'S MAKING THEM GO OUT. IF WE CHANGE ONE EITHER THAT SAME ONE OR ANOTHER ONE GOES OUT. AND IT'S WITH THE FRONT LIGHTS BACK LIGHTS AND I CURRENTLY HAVE AN INTERIOR LIGHT OUT ALONG WITH A FRONT HEAD LIGHT. I CAN'T PIN POINT IF THEY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING OR NOT ALL I KNOW WE HAVE GOTTEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT A LIGHT WE DIDN'T KNOW WAS OUT.
AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT GO AWAY. NO ACCIDENT. HEADLIGHT AND BRAKELIGHT BURNS OUT EVERY 6-8 MONTHS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, A BURNING ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS HAD BURNT AND WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER HERITICH OF NEW CASTLE (120 S. DUPONT HWY, NEW CASTLE DE.) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS ASSEMBLY AND WIRE HARNESS KIT WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
FOR THE THIRD TIME NOW I WAS PULLED OVER ON THE FREEWAY FOR HAVING A TAIL LIGHT OUT ON MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I REPLACE THE BULBS THEY JUST KEEP BLOWING. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A TICKET YET FROM ANY OF THESE OCCURRENCES, THANK GOD, BUT I'M SURE EVENTUALLY... I AM STARTING TO FEAR I AM GOING TO BE SOMEWHERE AT NIGHT AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO HIT ME. THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL FOR MY YEAR HYUNDAI.
THE COMPLETE BRAKE LIGHT PANELS-"TAILLIGHTS" ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BACK OF THE CAR (2012 SONATA) - IS COMPLETELY OUT. (BACK DRIVER AND PASSENGER TAILLIGHT PANELS) ALL THE WIRING THAT CARRYS ELECTRICIAL TO THE BACK TAILLIGHTS ARE MELTED / COMPLETELY WORPED / FUSED TOGETHER AND BLOWN OUT. ALL THE BURNT WIRING HAS DISFIGURED AND MELTED THE INSIDE OF THE TAIL LIGHT PANELS (IN THE TRUNK) SO THE BULBS OR WIRES CAN NOT BE REPLACED AND FUNCTIONABLE. FYI: IT CARRYS THE SMELL OF THE BURNT WIRING AND PLASTIC. MY 2012 SONATA HAS "NO ELECTRICIAL WIRES" THAT ARE FUNCTIONABLE TO CONNECT THE TAIL LIGHTS ON EITHER SIDE IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED TO FIX THE BULBS AND CONNECTION 2 TIMES BUT NOTHING WORKS- IT CONTINUES TO BLOW OUT & MELT...THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED THE "TAIL LIGHTS, ALL WIRING TO THE TAILLIGHTS, FUSES AND ANYTHING THAT IS CONNECTED WITH THE ELECTRICAL FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS." THIS WILL CATCH FIRE IN THE TRUNK OR WORSE!
THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT DISPLAYING CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE SHOWS EMPTY EVEN AFTER I HAVE FILLED IT UP WITH GAS. IT ALSO FLUCTUATES RANDOMLY. THIS HAPPENS IN ALL SETTINGS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING.
TAIL LIGHTS/ BRAKE LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY BURNOUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS ON BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OVER 10 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE BULB IS AT TIMES SO HOT IT'S MELTING THE PLASTIC CASING THAT IT SITS IN.
HYUNDAI SONATA 2012 BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT EVERY 2 MONTHS. I'VE REPLACED BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS 3 TIMES THEN TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP O'BRIEN FORT MYERS,FL. BRAKE LIGHT WAS CHANGED OUT AGAIN IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH 2019. MY RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT IS NOW OUT AGAIN.
TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON EVEN WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF KEYS OUT OF IGNITION AND LIGHT SWITCH IS OFF ... TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHEN CAR IS ON AND RUNNING IN DRIVE THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON GIVING CARS BEHIND ME FALSE SENSE THAT I'M BREAKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS WERE FAULTY, AND THE SOCKETS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE BURNT. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, THE PLASTIC THAT THE TAIL LIGHT BULB IS ATTACHED TO IS MELTING AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHT CASING ALREADY RECENTLY. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT, I REPLACES A BULB AND THE PLASTIC IS STARTING TO LOOK BURNED AGAIN. TWO WEEKS SINCE I REPLACED THAT BULB, THE LIGHT IS OUT AGAIN.EVERYTIME I HAVE THIS PROBLEM MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER A FEW DAYS IT GOES OFF. WHEN I TAKE CALL THE DEALER THEY SAID IF THE LIGHT GOES OFF THEY CANNOT CHECK THE PROBLEM, THIS PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AFTER I GOT THIS CAR AND NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND WILL NOT GO OFF.THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALWAY ON SINCE A YEAR AGO. NO ACCIDENT. LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE A LOT OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH SONATA
I HAVE NO LIGHT SOCKETS THEY ARE MELTED RITE OUT THE BAULB FALL RITE OUT I HAVE TO CHANGE MY HEADLIGHT EVERY 2 MONTHS AND MY TAIL LIGHTS EVERY WEEK
MY LEFT HEADLIGHT AND LEFT BRAKE LIGHT BULBS AND TAG LIGHT KEEP BURNING OUT FOR NO REASON EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED.
LIGHTS CONTINUING TO BURN OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY BURNED OUT. THE DEALER (HYUNDAI OF KENNESAW, 2878 BARRETT LAKES BLVD, KENNESAW, GA 30144, (678) 631-3575) STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. RECALL #15V759000, DATED 11/16/15 FOR 2011-2012 SONATA'S BUILT BETWEEN CERTAIN DATES. MY CAR FELL OUTSIDE OF THOSE DATES WITH A JANUARY 3, 2012 DATE. HOWEVER MY 2012 SONATA, VIN NUMBER [XXX] IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. HOW MANY OTHERS OUT THERE WITH SONATAS BUILT AFTER THE JUNE 30,2011 CUTOFF DATE ARE HAVING THE PROBLEM AS WELL. AS FOR ME, I WAS FIRST ALERTED BY OTHER DRIVERS THAT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHEN I WAS BRAKING OR NOT THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ABILITY TO RETAIN A CHARGE ON MY BATTERY DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ILLUMINATED, DRAINING THE BATTERY CHARGE, PREVENTING ACCURATE COMMUNICATION TO REARWARD FOLLOWING VEHICLES THAT THE VEHICLE IS SLOWING OR STOPPING. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE BRAKE SWITCH PLUNGER IS NOT RETRACTED, THEN THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS KNOWN, THESE CONDITIONS INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH AND HARM TO INDIVIDUALS, UP TO AND INCLUDING DEATH. I SUGGEST THIS BE RESEARCHED FOR THE NEED TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2012 SONATAS THAT WERE CONTINUED TO BE BUILT AFTER 6/30/2011. THANK YOU. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE IN USE, THE CAR RANDOMLY LOSES POWER, HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF, ENTIRE CAR JUST SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING, THEN AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, POWERS BACK ON. THE LIGHTS, ENGINE, EVERYTHING TURNS OFF. ALSO, WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE IN USE, CRUISE CONTROL AND STABILITY DO NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE TWO NEAREST DEALERS AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. GENERALLY, THIS HAPPENS WHEN BRAKING, USING TURN SIGNALS, CHANGING TO HI BEAM/LOW BEAM, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
BILATERAL BRAKE LIGHT TO LARGE AND WILL NOT COME OUT OF HOLDER. CAUSING MELTING TO PLASTIC COMPARTMENTS SURROUNDINGS.
FAILURE OF BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ALLOWING STARTING CAR IN PARK AND SHIFTING TO DRIVE,WITH OUT PRESSING BRAKES.SAME AS SAFETY RECALL ON ELANTRA. I BET IT HAS THE SAME FAULTY PART .
WHILE DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAMS ON WHEN I SIGNAL A TURN THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN INITIATING A TURN ON COUNTRY ROADS WITH NO STREET LIGHTS AND DEEP DITCHES ON ALL FOUR CORNERS. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AND NOT A ONE TIME INCIDENT.
AFTER CHANGING BRAKE LIGHT BULBS BRAKE LIGHTS STILL DON'T WORK. BULBS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE YEAR AND NOW THE PLASTIC ASSEMBLY IS MELTING AND SOCKETS HAVE CRACKED. WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY.
BOTH HEADLIGHTS ON MY HYUNDAI WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $1200 TO REPLACE BOTH.IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF I WAS ON THE ROAD AND THEY WENT OUT. THIS IS QUITE EXPENSIVE. IT SEEMS TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WAS THERE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? I NOTICED IT AS MY WIFE WAS PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE.I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THEY WERE NOT WORKING.
I HAVE REPLACED MY TAIL LIGHTS ON MY CAR NO LESS THAN 8 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. I JUST HAD MY CAR TAIL LIGHTS REPAIRED ON 09/30/17 AND THE TAIL LIGHT IS OUT AGAIN. EVERY SINGLE TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE REPLACED MY HEADLIGHTS AS WELL SEVERAL TIMES.
MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A SHOP BEING LOOKED AT. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING IT AND IT STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE CONSTANT LIGHTING ISSUES WHERE I HAVE TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS EVERY MONTH TO 2 MONTHS. LIGHTS ARE VERY DIM ALL THE TIME. IT HAS A CLICKING SOUND THAT NEVER GOES AWAY. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR. I OWE 2 MORE YEARS ON THIS CAR AND I'M AFRAID IT'S NOT GOING TO MAKE IT. I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO WORK NOW AND I MAY BE AT RISK OF LOSING BOTH JOBS I HAVE. I'M SO DISGUSTED IN MY CHOICE OF VEHICLES RIGHT NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR AN INOPERABLE REAR BRAKE STOP LAMP. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE STOP LAMP BULB, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VAN HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 1301 S INTERSTATE 35E, CARROLLTON, TX 75006, 972-437-8334) TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,682.
I BEEN HAVING THIS VEHICLE SINCE 02/2016 AND EXPERIENCING A LIGHT OUTAGE MORE THAN OFTEN. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS FORM HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS (LIKE MUSICAL CHAIRS) AT ;EAST ONCE A MONTH. IM NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING FROM. I HAVE USED LOW PRICED BULBS TO HIGH PRICED BULBS. PER MY ENGINE RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY.
BRAKE LIGHTS NOT TURNING OFF WHEN CAR IS OFF.
BRAKE LIGHTS AT REAR OF CAR DO NOT TURN OFF & ABLE TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION WITHOUT DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. CAR SUFFERED FROM OCCASIONAL LOSS OF POWER. DISCOVERED BRAKE STOPPER HAD ERODED WHICH WAS ALREADY SUBJECT TO RECALL ON OTHER SONATA 2012 MODELS BUT NOT THIS ONE.
DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON, WHEN I CALLED HYUNDAI THEY TOLD ME TAKE A PICTURE AND SEND IT TO THEM...? ENGINE CUTS OUT WHILE DRIVING AND THEN RECONNECTS TAIL LIGHTS STAY ON AIR CONDITIONER MAKES LOUD NOISES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE POLICE STOPPED THE CONTACT BECAUSE THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS OUT. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES ON BOTH SIDES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
THE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH LIGHTING OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON MY CAR. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE EVERY HEADLIGHT, TAILLIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT AND LICENSE PLATE LIGHT, NOT ONCE BUT SEVERAL TIMES FOR EACH ONE. MUST HAVE REPLACED 16 TO 20 LIGHTS. NOW THE HORN KEEPS BLOWING. I HAVE HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE SO IT DOESN'T WAKE UP THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD.. I AM TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK OR IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THESE PROBLEMS.. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. ALSO, IT LOSES POWER AS I AM DRIVING. FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT, BUT THEN TAKES OFF AGAIN.
THE REAR PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT BULB BLEW OUT AND UPON MAKING THE CHANGE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BULB SOCKET AND THE LIGHT HOUSING SURFACE WERE MELTED TO THE POINT THAT THE TWO SURFACES WOULD NOR INTERLOCK CORRECTLY. THE INCIDENT WAS DISCOVERED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BUT THE FAILING OF THE BULB LIKELY OCCURRED WHILE MOVING. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS TYPE OF BULB FAILURE COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD.
ON JAN 26 MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SLIPPERY. WHEN HE WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES, HE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED AROUND THE CORNER, BUT BY THE TIME THE CAR MADE IT INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE BRAKES WERE SMOKING. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS AND ROTORS. ALSO THE BRAKE SWITCH OEM HAD TO REPLACED. WHEN ALL SAID AND DONE THE TOTAL COST CAME TO 729.64. CAN I TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM IN THIS VEHICLE?? THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY A 2012 MY HIGH BEAMS DON'T WORK NOR DOES THE CRUISE CONTROL. I AM STARTING TO THINK THIS CAR IS A REAL LEMON!!! AT THIS POINT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS ANY RECALLS BECAUSE MY BILL WAS EXTREME AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED ON A 2012. I DO NOT HAVE THE VIN NUMBER ON ME AT THIS TIME. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS CAR! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING A NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD CLEARLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND OFFERED TO INSTALL NEW LIGHTING AT HER EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH THE DEALER. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60. IT WAS NOTICED THE FIRST TIME CAR WAS DRIVEN AT NIGHT. HEAD LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE ENTIRE ROAD EXCEPT WHEN IN HIGH POSITION. DIFFICULT TO SEE ROAD. UPDATED 10/05/2011 *LN *TR
