2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Other Problems

I am reporting a safety concern with my 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 related to Hyundai placing remote safety features behind a paid subscription. Hyundai has locked two functions that affect safety: (1) the ability to remotely check the vehicle’s battery state of charge, and (2) the ability to remotely unlock the doors from a phone.

- The ICCU assembly failed while I was driving on the highway. - The ICCU failed even after I had the car taken in due to a recall on the ICCU unit. In other words, the repair that they suggested I do to the ICCU DID NOT WORK, which means I was driving a dangerous vehicle.

The manufacturer sent me a letter about a recall and in the letter stated that this should be fixed promptly because the defect could increase the risk of a crash. I called my local dealership and they could not provide me with an appoinment for 3 months. When I told them that I was worried about risk of crash they dismissed that and told me that they had not heard of a crash from this problem.

I bought my Ioniq 5 in April 2023, starting in June 2023 I started having issues with the internal navigation system locating my vehicle on a different route than I was actually on. When I connect to Apple CarPlay to be able to use Google Maps or Waze, it also throws my cell phone system off and will be taken into wrong streets.

I own a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 that experienced a battery failure while still under warranty. The vehicle became completely undriveable in late November 2025 and had to be towed to a Hyundai dealership. The vehicle has now been sitting at the dealership for more than 90 days waiting for a replacement battery with no repair completion date provided.

The ICCU failed. I heard a popping noise, an error “check electric vehicle system” appeared on the dash, and I lost propulsion. I had my car towed to the dealership, where they eventually confirmed the ICCU failure.

ICCU Unit went bad in 2025. Car totally dead. Jumped, taken to dealership, about 1 week to fix ICCU and blown fuse.

ICCU FAILURE. Car was being parked at night and there was a pop sound towards the back. It sounded like I ran over a branch.

Charging port overheats when attempting to charge at any speed above 6kw/hr. Charger is supposed to be rated for 48amps but overheats within minutes charging at 40 amps. Have had a TSB installed by the dealer but issue remains

The component that failed was the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). This component has failed twice within the past ten months. The failed components are not available for inspection, as they were replaced during prior service repairs.

Car had its ICCU fuse blow on 2/3/26. Been at the dealer ever since.

On March 15, I pulled my car into a charging station and turned it off. The charger would not recognize my car, so I figured I'd pull into a different charger. However, when I tried to start my car to move it I got the dreaded Low Voltage warning.

I attempted to drive my car to work. The car started but would not shift into gear. A red battery light indicator was on in the lower left corner of the screen.

The navigation system in this car has an additional feature which is always enabled even if a destination is not programmed into the nav system which is supposed to warn drivers if they are going the wrong way on a highway. Intermittently the system erroneously indicates that the driver is going the wrong way.

Vehicle was taken to dealer for recall repair. Upon completion I made sure everything was good to go. And realized the navigation system was not updating.

Sometimes, the batteries trip while charging and don’t recharge, don’t charge at the expected speeds, or only charge partially. Recently, when charging at home all night and plugged into our Level 2 charger, I find find that the car has not charged at all overnight.

Entered car on very cold day. Put heater and defroster on high, drove about a mile and then the window cracked.

My car has suffered two ICCU failures despite going through all of the Hyundai recalls. Through the so far 30 months of my lease, the car has been non-operational for close to 5 months. The car is still currently in the shop awaiting delivery of the replacement parts, but there is absolutely no ETA being provided.

The car was fully charged and all of a sudden displayed a limited power warning and stopped driving completely. We were stuck on a road and had to get a tow truck. The tow truck was able to get power to the battery to drive it up on the bed.

My horn has quit working. I don’t use it often do it could have been broken for more than 6 months, but I just discovered it following the service for a number of recalls. Apparently, this is a common problem.

It is regularly very difficult to see the digital speedometer on this car because it is blocked by the steering wheel. There is almost no comfortable position to place the seat and steering wheel for someone of my height 6ft where the speedometer is visible. Please make Hyundai move the speedometer to the middle of the screen (not outside edges where it is blocked by the steering wheel)!!

Power limited message show when driving on highway then drop the speed and stop need to turn off the car and turn back on the everything back to normal.

The car driving selector order is Drive, Neutral, Reverse which is the wrong order. It should be Reverse, Neutral, Drive, which is the same for all the cars I have driven since the late 1960's. In fact, the Hyundai Santa Fe has the correct order.

Charger does not charge

Level 2 charging at home interrupting. I charge with a level 2 24a in my dryer outlet and my ionic 5 sel 2023 rwd interrupt its charging 2 times. I had to force my shelf to continue.
