NHTSA Campaign: 23V735000
Component: STEERING:RACK AND PINION:RACK
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Pilot vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the gear box assembly may contain a loose ball bearing, which can result in a loss of steering control or steering lock-up.
Risk: A loss of steering control or steering lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is FFX.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V859000
Component: SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot, and 2024 HR-V, Acura Integra and Acura Integra Type S vehicles. The driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly, which can result in an unsecured seat. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems."
Risk: An unsecured driver's seat may not adequately restrain the driver during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V900000
Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Passport and 2023-2025 Pilot vehicles. The fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe may separate, allowing fuel to leak.
Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and repair the fuel filler neck tube and pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 7, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is OKM.
NHTSA Campaign: 25V031000

Risk: An engine stall or loss of power can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Fix: Dealers will reprogram the FI-ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are EL1 and AL0.
NHTSA Campaign: 25V391000
Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Acura TLX, 2023-2025 Acura MDX, and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot vehicles. The brake pedal pivot pin was not secured properly, which can cause the pedal to shift out of position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Risk: A brake pedal that shifts out of position can prevent the driver from applying the brakes as intended, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the brake pedal assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 29, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are FLX and XLY.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 96)
Steering →3 issues
Your 2023 Honda Pilot has had ongoing steering problems since you bought it new, including knocking and rattling noises in the steering column despite no warning lights appearing. The Honda dealer has replaced the steering rack three times and is now recommending replacement of the entire steering column, with Honda engineering involved in approving each repair. You're concerned the steering could fail at highway speeds and cause an accident, but Honda corporate says they consider the vehicle fixed after each repair.

Your steering system is making a knocking sound when you turn the wheel at low speeds, such as when pulling into a garage or backing into a parking spot. Multiple owners have reported the same issue, with the steering rack identified as the likely cause. Your dealer is currently inspecting the problem, and you should avoid driving the vehicle until this is resolved, as steering issues can affect your ability to control the car safely.

Your steering wheel has become difficult to turn. The dealership has diagnosed this as a steering rack and pinion problem that needs repair. This is happening on a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot purchased just a few months ago with no prior issues. The fix will likely involve replacing or repairing the steering rack and pinion assembly.

Seat Belts →3 issues
Your third-row seat belt buckles aren't properly detecting when a child is buckled in, causing false alarm warnings that a child is unbuckled when they actually are. You've had to replace multiple buckles, with some failing repeatedly, requiring multiple dealer visits to address the same issue. The fix will involve replacing or repairing the faulty seat belt buckle sensors and connections.

Your rear seat belt warning system is falsely alerting you that a passenger's seat belt is unbuckled when it actually is buckled. The warning alarm sounds and displays on your dashboard multiple times, which distracts you while driving and may cause you to ignore the warning when it's actually needed. This increases the risk of missing when a passenger is genuinely unbuckled. The issue likely involves a faulty seat belt buckle sensor or connector that needs diagnosis and replacement.

Your rear or third-row seatbelt warning light keeps turning on repeatedly, even when passengers are properly buckled in. This problem started shortly after you bought the vehicle and continues to be a distraction while driving. The issue appears to be with the seatbelt sensor or warning system rather than the actual belt. A technician will likely need to inspect the seatbelt buckle sensors and wiring to identify and repair the faulty component.

Seats →2 issues
Your driver's seat has become loose and rocks back and forth like a rocking chair, making it unstable while driving. You've taken the vehicle to the dealer twice to try to fix this issue. The seat mounting hardware likely needs to be tightened, replaced, or the seat frame itself may need repair or replacement.

Your third-row seat headrest won't stay in the upright position — it keeps folding down and won't lock into place. This could affect passenger comfort and safety in the back seat. The fix will likely involve inspecting or replacing the headrest locking mechanism.

Seat Belts,seats →2 issues
Your seat belt warning alarm keeps activating even when the seat belt is properly buckled. This first happened in the middle row right seat within the first year, and the dealer replaced that seat belt. Now at 38,000 miles, the middle row middle seat has developed the same problem, and the previously replaced right seat belt occasionally alarms again. The fix will likely involve replacing the faulty seat belt pretensioner or buckle sensor.

Your rear seat belt warning light and alarm sound continuously even when a passenger is properly buckled in. Every time the buckled passenger shifts position in the seat, the warning light turns on and the alarm sounds again. This makes the safety feature unreliable because you can't tell if there's an actual problem.

Visibility/wiper →2 issues
Your windshield has a significant distortion that makes it look like you're looking through strong prescription glasses, causing eye strain and motion sickness while driving. This distortion is distracting and could affect your ability to focus on the road safely. The issue likely requires windshield replacement or inspection by a Honda dealership to determine if it's a manufacturing defect.

You heard a popping sound while your car was parked, and later discovered a crack in the windshield around the camera area. The crack appears to be a stress fracture rather than from an impact. You'll likely need to have the windshield replaced, and the dealership may need to inspect the camera mounting or frame to determine what caused the stress.

Structure →1 issue
Water is leaking into your vehicle during rainstorms, soaking the driver's seatbelt, airbag, and airbag electronics despite no sunroof or accident history. This raises concerns about whether the seatbelt pretensioner and airbag will work properly in a crash after repeated water exposure. Additionally, your rear driver's side door occasionally won't unlock or open from the outside, requiring you to reach inside to use the interior handle, which could be dangerous in an emergency. The issue likely involves inspecting and sealing the roof rack mounting points and door locking mechanism, and potentially replacing water-damaged electrical components.

Tether, Lower Anchor (on Car Seat Or Vehicle),other/i Am Not Sure →1 issue
Your Honda Pilot's car seat installation system isn't holding your forward-facing child car seat securely. Even when you install the seat belt according to the manual, the seat becomes loose within days and starts to wiggle, exceeding the safe one-inch movement rule. The car seat's snug lock feature isn't working as intended, and multiple child passenger safety technicians confirm this is a known issue with no reliable solution.

Electrical System,service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is experiencing electrical problems with the brake system and won't start. The issues involve both the electrical system and the forward collision avoidance safety feature. You'll likely need to have the electrical connections to the brake system and the engine starter checked and possibly repaired or replaced.

Service Brakes, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your Pilot's collision avoidance system is triggering sudden, hard braking when there's no car or obstacle ahead of you. This has happened multiple times since you bought the vehicle new, and the violent braking feels like being rear-ended — creating a risk that following vehicles could hit you. The problem appears to be caused by faulty sensors in the collision mitigation braking system misreading normal traffic conditions. Fixing this will likely require Honda to diagnose and recalibrate the forward-facing radar or camera sensors, or replace them if they're defective.

Visibility →1 issue
Your rearview mirror console (the display mounted near the windshield) stopped working while you were driving. When you checked it, the console was extremely hot to the touch, but no warning light appeared on your dashboard. The dealer was contacted but didn't diagnose or repair the issue, and Honda was notified of the problem.

Engine →1 issue
Your 2023 Pilot is experiencing rough idling, especially in cold weather below 60°F, along with occasional misfiring sensations while driving. You've also noticed rattling sounds during startup and driving that come and go randomly, and the engine hesitates when shifting gears. The dealership couldn't reproduce the issue but suggested switching to premium gas and mentioned these engines are prone to carbon buildup, though other owners have reported similar patterns potentially related to the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) system. Diagnosis and repair could involve fuel system cleaning, spark plug inspection, VCM system diagnostics, or transmission fluid evaluation.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your rear window suddenly shattered without any warning or visible cause, even though there was no prior damage, vandalism, or impact. This happened while you were in the front seats, but you noted that your grandchildren would normally have been sitting in the back seats nearest to the glass. The repair would likely involve replacing the rear window assembly.

Seat Belts,seats,service Brakes →1 issue
Your passenger seatbelts in the second row are causing the warning chime to sound repeatedly even when they're properly buckled. Additionally, your dashboard is displaying a message saying the emergency brake is unavailable, though this may be a related sensor issue rather than an actual brake problem.
