Your 2006 Honda Odyssey has multiple serious problems that developed shortly after purchase. The engine makes loud roaring and crackling noises (especially when idling or in park), produces thick white smoke from under the hood, won't accelerate properly through intersections, the gear shift gets stuck in park, the brakes feel like they're failing despite multiple brake switch replacements, and the instrument cluster needle moves erratically. WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, ENGINE BEGAN HARD ACCELERATION AND FRONT TIRES BEGAN SCREECHING. THIS OCCURRED 4X WITHIN 10 DAYS. WITH EACH EXPERIENCE THERE WAS NO WARNING. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT FOOT WAS ON BRAKE PEDAL AT THAT TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SURGE FORWARD. SHE TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOT ENGAGE AND SHE CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE THAT WAS IN FRONT OF HER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED UP, THERE IS A SUDDEN PERIOD OF UNWARRANTED ACCELERATION (LESS THAN A SECOND). IT FEELS LIKE THE ACCELERATOR INPUT IS MISREAD AND RE-CALIBRATED AND THEN THE PROBLEM DOES NOT COME BACK. I HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM MORE OFTEN IN COOLER WEATHER THAN OTHERWISE. *TR

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO APPLY BRAKE PRESSURE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY DETERMINED THE FLOOR MAT WAS JAMMED AGAINST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT DISPUTED THE DEALER'S CONCLUSION THAT THE FLOOR MAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED AT CONTACT'S EXPENSE, AND HONDA WAS WILLING TO PUT IT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY, AND RISK INJURING OTHER MOTORISTS. UPDATED 5/10/2006 - *AK *NM
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKES FAILED TO STOP WHEN DEPRESSED. *TS THE CONSUMERS WIFE HAD TO TURN OFF TH IGNITION IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THE FLOOR MATS JAMMED UNDER THE ACCELERATOR. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STAY ON. *JB
