EXTERIOR LIGHTING

American Honda Motor Co. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2016 Civic 2-Door vehicles manufactured February 23, 2016, through May 20, 2016. The affected vehicles may have a damaged LED side marker light circuit board inside the taillight assembly, making the marker light inoperable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect both the taillight assemblies, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 31, 2016. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is KB8.

Third brake light cover will not stay up. This causes a visibility issue when driving at night or in rain, as the reflection from the red light covers the entire back window and reflects in the side mirrors. You cannot see.

The cover for the reverse light, rear window, of the 2016 civic has dropped and after repeated attempts trying to get american honda to correct, still has not been fixed. The cover can't be removed as the reverse light is too bright and makes it impossible to see out the rear window at night. During the day, the cover obscures objects/cars in the rear view window.

The high-mounted brake light cover, mounted on the rear window, has detached itself from the window. This has resulted in a loss of visibility due to the plastic cover blocking important visual information from outside the car. In addition, red light from the brake light illuminates the rear window, making it almost impossible to see outside at night.

Third brake light housing came undone. I've researched several honda civic forums and this seems to be a wide spread problem. One complaint even read that when they contacted their dealer they said that every single 2016 civic coupe they had in the lot is having this issue.

Following my wife after a recall on her car, it began to rain lightly. Knowing we were entering a 75mph turnpike, I phoned her to advise her to turn on her lights. At the stop light before getting on the turnpike, all I could see were 2 tiny LED bulb types on both sides.

The 3rd brake light that's on the inside of the rear window (I have the coupe) has a cover which keeps the light directed outside of the car and attaches to the window. The glue holding it to the window isn't strong enough, so the cover hangs down, blocking some of the rear window, reducing visibility.

High brakelight cover will not remain attached to rear window and hangs down. The velcro attaching strips pull away from the glass in hot weather. The result is that rearward vision is reduced, and at night, applying the brakes will light up the entire rear glass obstructing outward vision whether vehicle is moving or not.
