2016 Honda Civic Electrical Problems

While driving on the freeway at 70-80mph the car begins to lose acceleration, stutters and faults all fault codes on the car. Car then begins to brake itself to a stop all while on a freeway at a high rate of speed. I have to pull over to the side of the freeway, crossing up to 5 lanes of high speed traffic all while my car is braking itself to a stop.

I’ve had this car for about 1 year now. On the 4th month of having the vehicle I got the battery replaced by the dealer for free. Now here we are a year later and my car is having the same issue.

Eps sub harness is made from a soy based product that attracts rodents and a common cause for wires being chewed and destroyed. As soon as we presented the problems with honda mechanic he immediately and suspiciously asked if we parked the car outside. Upon his inspection of the engine he only looked at wires with predetermination that the cause of the issues was wiring.

I purchased this vehicle from a honda dealership vancouver, wa in 2016. Recently, the car alarm would go off randomly throughout the night. I took the vehicle into the dealership and the battery was checked and replaced.

A rodent crawled up into the engine compartment and chewed up the wires to coil connector. It made all of the dashboard warning lights to come on and the engine was shaking due to the mis-firing coil. It is honda fault because they covered/made the wires with soy, which attracts rodents.

The AC has went out on two occasions. The first occasion was due to the system needing to be recharged. The second being a hose was not connected correctly.

Repeated issues with faulty dashboard electronic warning system which alerts brake failure and experience with acceleration problem and other related issues. These issues occurred while driving on city streets.

Vehicle about 10 days after purchase while in motion on a city street suddenly stopped and all the lights came on. Towed back to dealership, found ABS modulator leaking. About 3 months later car was stationary in a parking lot would not start.

Vehicle has repeatedly thrown errors with warnings to not drive the vehicle and have it inspected by the dealer. The vehicle has already been to the shop twice for the problem. In both cases honda installed an updated vsa modulator they claimed would fix the problem.

My mother in law's not even a week old civic had a complete electrical failure on I-210 eastbound just before the campus exit, probably doing the speed limit on the afternoon of 02/06/2016. Aaa and the police responded. They could not restart it.

Fuel door is making a noise when I unlock my vehicle and sometimes fuel door doesn’t unlock.

My manual key…it wasn’t program. I just found out when my battery died and we won’t able to open the door manually. And when I told the dealer where I bought it, they were charging me to program it.

Honda did a software update on my vehicle tied to the recall below. The dealership stated to me that they need to replace the VSA modulator and they are claiming this is not covered since they did the software update a few years ago. I believe they are directly corollated as I don't drive the car much only have 27K miles on the car.

Failed body control module known issue with Honda for years. wants to stick consumer with $1300 repair bill so car can be drive able again.

All engine lights flashed while driving, check engine light remained on after all others went off, emission system warning keeps prompting attention, and car just slowed to only 8 MPH as I was driving down the road. Available for inspection any day. I had my 7 month old child in the backseat and almost got slammed in the back while going down the road as my car slowed abruptly as I was driving.

I have been experiencing multiple electrical issues since about 6 months after purchase with brake light bulbs repeatedly burning out along with every system icon on the dash flashing off and on while driving the car it will not start always and at times it will not open with the key or the remote fob all being taken in to shops for repairs and within weeks I can be back to the shop with yet another so called fix this recurring problem is a big safety issue

When the fuel door actuator is activated (locking the doors on remote control), the motor makes a loud noise as it locks the fuel door. Unlocking does not make a noise. Also, when getting into car (unlocking doors) and then driving away, as the door auto-lock the actuator is engaged and it makes a loud noise.

AC system needs a new condensor and compressor due to leaking....car is not even 4 years old...this issue is ongoing and honda has done nothing....not living up to reputation...this is my first and last honda. I had to replace the battery in this car less than 3 years old and nothing was draining it....this has been a pain in the butt experience....I'm going back to toyoya.

This vehicle has repeatedly been dying and having all of the error codes pop up while the car is running. We have had the car diagnosed and have been told there is nothing wrong by two different dealerships. However even when we are driving the car the car starts freaking out and losing power.

A/c unit and all components of AC has stopped working, previous owner replaced components at dealership, I had the components replaced at a different dealership! Parts are faulty and don't last!

1) the AC only have cool air but it is not cold. It is not even as cold as the outside air. The technician said that the compressor and condenser is working fine, so it has to be the systems leaking air.

System throws codes non stop recently electronic brake system light emission light saying trans and ecu aren't on same program. Every time I take to honda they wanna blame the owner. I purchase this car in june of 2019; I had the car for approx 5 months. I told the honda dealer mechanic that something was wrong with the brakes when I bought it. I brought it back in september.

The vehicle experienced an intermittent but sudden and complete loss of braking power while driving on the highway moving at around 40mph. In part due to the low speed, the vehicle was safely maneuvered off the road once braking power was regained.

I have issues that have been reported previously and while the vehicle was under warranty. Now that the warranty is out the problem has been more severe. Vehicle was parked on driveway, when turned on it had battery and electric issues (battery just replaced by professional) AC blows out hot air (AC fluid just refilled as well by professional) and back door won't open from inside. Car was purchased less than two years ago and already malfunctioning.

While driving 25 MPH in daytime/dry conditions/light traffic on a straight portion of a two-lane street, vehicle lost instrumentation (tach, speedometer, and central display) for approx. 45-60 seconds. As system reset, large "h" was displayed for a period and then instrumentation was restored.

Bought the car in mid february and it began to read "brake system problem" once the car was turned on and stationary a few weeks after. I took it to the dealership in march and they "cleared" the codes and test drove it.

I cranked up my brand new honda and a emissions system error displayed. I contacted the dealer and drove it to them. In retrospect that was probably a bad idea.

Every since the repair of the recall the engine pulls not even an hour after the pick up the car had to go back in the shop for belt repair. It makes noises as if something is loose . I've called several times to speak with patrick never to get a call back.

All light are coming in off and on in my car , keys will lock my car but when I walk away it unlocks and rolls all my windows down on its own. Had to remove key batteries for it to stop and had a diagnostic ran and it shows the body control module is misfiring and having issues. Was told there was a recall on 10th gen honda civics but you sight doesnt show it

After a year of purchasing the 2016 Honda Civic with 5 miles on it the Bluetooth connection stopped working.

My car has an emergency parking brake malfunction where the brake delays once parked.

Paint peeling along upper edge of roof adjacent to rear window. Console display for backup/right turn camera only displays colored lines while stationary or moving. Mileage 33,340, oct.

Went to start my car after 8 hours of work and the battery is dead. Car is only 4 years old and has chalky corrosion. I don't live near a beach for it to have this much corrosion nor do I know if that's why the battery is actually dying.

Primary display failed, removing ability to see backup camera and right turn or right side blindspot camera. Secondary impact to climate control and other vehicle functions but safety issue with an inability to see the backup camera on the display is primary concern.

Over 12 different times in the past 6 months since I purchased the car it has had serious electrical issues ranging from locking itself with the keyless fob inside the vehicle during a snow storm, all windows including moon roof rolling completely down during a rainstorm when parked or in motion.

My 2016 honda civic air conditioning compressor failed and no longer blows cold air. I reviewed several honda message boards and forums and discovered that this is a common problem with this model vehicle that homda refuses to acknowledge.

Touch screen panel that controls the entire settings of the car over heats and blocks out making it very uncomfortable and upsetting not being able to control your /c settings or your radio and your phone. We have taken our 2016 honda civic touring that same year back multiple times in regards to this issue. However every time we took it they would replace it.

Upon closing the car trunk the parking lights flashed & stayed on and the car "locked-up". The car could not be unlocked using either the key-bob or the key. This issue was reported to honda (case #9624986) who basically ignored the issue stating that they had no knowledge of this issue.

The rear facing camera fails to display on the screen when the transmission is in reverse. This has happened 5-6 times since 01/01/2019. This has only been observed after initial startup.

Not sure if it's the battery or the battery sensor but my car when I want to turn it on it'll not turn on and it would just flash all the lights in the board and won't fully turn on.

Takata recall while in motion on a public street/ highway while attempting to compress the gas pedal the vehicle fails to accelerate increasing speed!! Also, at time vehicle will say emergency break is malfunctioning and the tire pressure light also alerts. It's a safety issue because this car is going full speed and looses power.

I got into the trunk of my civic (keyless) and when I tried to open the car, everything had shut down and it is locked and won't respond to the emergency key or the fob. This began 2 days ago and I see several other complaints o the internet of the same problem. It was parked in my driveway.

My 2016 honda civic coupe touring was parked in my attached garage at night with all windows and sunroof shut. In the morning when I went to the garage, both windows and the sunroof (which I never use) were wide open. In reading multiple car forums, this is not uncommon, however honda refuses to admit there is an issue.

Upon starting vehicle, center console screen was black. When I tapped the power button, the screen flashed green and went black. No radio function, no camera function, nothing.

Sir/ma'am, I would like to address somewhat safety problem that many civic have. Honda civic has a center touch screen that controls radio, temperature and importantly shows rear view camera and right side camera. Today the center screen didn't even turn on and wasn't able to see an object rear and underneath of my car due to the screen not turned on.

Battery died in normal weather condition in austin tx on 2/20/17. Evey electrical operation was disabled. By jump starting the car, the battery was tested at auto parts shop autozone.

While driving the vehicle on city streets the (brake hold) light turns on then it brakes the vehicle on its own in the middle of the road and turns on the (hold) light . In order to continue driving I need to restart the engine back on. This has 3 times already.

Steering wheel controls stopped working.

The radio or said infotainment system does not work as advertised, not allowing you to use your google navigation or bluetooth which are 2 big safety concerns, the internet is flooded with complaints and all say honda is ignoring the problem and refusing a fix.

I purchased a new vehicle with 29 miles on it. I received the key, paired a phone with bluetooth, and put it in drive, then the dash lit up with flashing error signals for engine, tire pressure, brakes. It's still in the shop.

Possible electric problem. Have my civic ex for a month. When I was driving alone on freeway, I cannot open moon-roof, lower the front passage side window or adjust the passage side rare mirror.
