MY CAR WAS WEARING OUT TIRES EVERY 20,000 TO 30,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD MY CAR ALIGNED 5 TIMES. TWICE BY THE DEALER AND 3 TIMES BY SO CALLED EXPERT SHOPS. $2,200 LATER IN TIRES & ALIGNMENT COSTS NEITHER, FIXED MY PROBLEMS. I DID THE TROUBLESHOOTING MYSELF. I STOPPED ROTATING THE TIRES AND DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE THE CULPRITS WEARING THE TIRES OUT. DUE TO A NEGATIVE UPPER CONTROL ARM SETTING. REAR CAMBER ON THIS IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. YOU MUST REPLACE IT WITH A DEALER UPPER CONTROL ARM MARKED "C" THAT SETS IT AT -1.50 DEG (-0.75-+1.08). FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I LOCATED A RECALL FOR ONLY THE 2006 TO 2009 CIVIC. MY CIVIC IS A 2010 MODEL. IT IS SUSPECTED THAT THE REAR TIRE WEAR IS MADE WORSE WHEN YOU CARRY EXTRA WEIGHT. I LIVE ON BASE (RIDGECREST CA) AND VISIT GRANDMA IN PASADENA CA OFTEN WITH MY 2 KIDS AND WIFE A 2 HOUR ROUND TRIP. THE PASSENGERS MUST HAVE MADE THIS WORSE. THE REASON FOR MY POST IS THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 2010 CIVIC! I HAD TO USE AN AFTER MARKET REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM AND SET TO -1.50 TO CORRECT SPENDING $600 ON TIRES EVERY 20,000 TO 30,000 MILES. NOW MY TIRES LAST ~70,000. COME ON HONDA! WAITING FOR A LAWSUIT TO MAKE YOU DO THE RECALL & KEEPING THE 2010 OUT OF THE RECALL IS JUST IRRESPONSIBLE. YOU HAVE LOST MY RESPECT AND I WILL NOW GO BACK TO THE UGLY MORE RELIABLE TOYOTA COROLLA. I HAVE ALL MY RECORDS FOR EVERY ALIGNMENT. UNFORTUNATELY, I FORGOT TO KEEP THE TIRE RECEIPTS FOR THE NUMBER OF TIME I REPLACE ALL 4.

WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT OR VEERING LEFT OR RIGHT THE REAR TIRES (MAINLY THE LEFT ONE) SCREECHES AND SOUNDS LIKE METAL IS GRINDING ON METAL. IT IS COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE TIRE TO MIDDLE OF THE SUSPENSION. BUT WHEN GOING STRAIGHT OR STOPPING THERE IS NO NOISE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S TIRE CAVED IN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRE OFF AND NOTICED THAT THE TIRE MOUNT WAS BENT AND THE WHEEL SUSPENSION ARM WAS FRACTURED IN HALF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.

I PURCHASED NEW TIRES AT 52,000 MILES AFTER ROTATING THE OLD ONES EVERY 8,000 MILES. THE OLD TIRES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WORE UNEVEN ON BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR SINCE I ROTATED THEM 5 TIMES. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO APPLE HONDA IN RIVERHEAD,NEW YORK WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THE SERVICE TECH. SAID "THE REAR RIGHT CAMBER IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT ,SOMETHING IS BENT. YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP".I THINK IT CAME THIS WAY WHEN I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN 2010. *TR

THERE HAVE BEEN THREE (3) FRONT END COLLISIONS ON THIS VEHICLE. 2 WERE DEER RELATED. THE FIRST ACCIDENT WAS A DEER HIT, AT 60 MPH., BODY SHOP SAID BECAUSE THE DEER HIT DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SECOND ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING 69 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. SHE TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET DOWN A DITCH AND BACK UP THE OTHER SIDE, STRIKING AN EMBANKMENT, COMING TO REST 2 FEET FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE VIRGINIA STATE POLICE OFFICER SAID AT THE TIME, HE COULDN'T BELIEVE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS TOTALLY DISENGAGED FROM THE CAR. THE LAST ACCIDENT, JUNE 2013, YOUNGER DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. SHE REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF HER WHO HAD REAR ENDED THE CAR AHEAD OF IT. WET ROADS WERE A FACTOR, HOWEVER, THIS WAS AGAIN A FRONT END COLLISION, WITH A SPEED OF 40+ MPH. WHILE WE ARE VERY THANKFUL THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED IN ANY OF THESE ACCIDENTS, IT'S CERTAIN THE AIRBAG IN THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. *TR

THERE WAS A LOT OF NOISE FROM THE FRONT END. I TOOK TO THE DEALER (MARY SUSSMAN HONDA, ABINGTON, PA) AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A FRONT END BRAKE JOB (PADS, ROTOR POLISHING ETC). TWO DAYS AGO (9/27/12) I HAD TO TAKE TO HAVE MY REAR BEARING REPLACED AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED FRONT BRAKES AGAIN. NOW MILEAGE IS 44,500, SO ONLY ~18,000 MILES FROM LAST REPAIR. I THINK TWO BRAKE JOBS AT 40K MILES IS NOT RIGHT. *TR

BRAND NEW 2010 HONDA CIVIC LX. HAS 320 MILES ON IT AND ALREADY CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND HAS VIBRATION AT 45 MPH AND ABOVE. REAR TIRES SHOWING EARLY SIGNS OF UNEVEN TREADWEAR. I THOUGHT THIS PROBLEM WAS COVERED AND RESOLVED ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. APPARENTLY IT HAS CONTINUED TO THE 2010 MODEL. I HAVE READ ANOTHER CUSTOMER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM ON A 2010 ON EDMUNDS.COM. WILL BE GOING TO DEALER TOMORROW AND HAVE THEM FIX TO SPEC AND THE PREVIOUSLY ISSUED TSB 08-001. NOT IMPRESSED WITH DEALER PREP OF THE CAR AS THEY SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT IT. *TR

I HAVE A CAR WITH ONLY 1800 MILES AND IS 45 DAYS OLD. I WAS DRIVING AND IT SEEMS THAT I HAD A FLAT. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE CAR AND FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BALD AND TORN UP. HONDA IS SAYING THAT THE SUSPENSION HAS GONE BAD AND IT IS PROBABLY BECAUSE OF ME HITTING A POTHOLE OR SNOW. THIS EXPLANATION DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AS THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES AND ALLEGED DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION IS TOO SEVERE FOR ME NOT TO HAVE NOTICED IT. *TR
