SUSPENSION
HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 HONDA ACCORD V6 AND MODEL YEAR 2011 HONDA PILOT VEHICLES. THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE LOWER LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT DAMPER BRACKET TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED WHICH MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING. THE SPINDLE NUTS FOR THE AXLE ON THE ACCORD V6 MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED PROPERLY WHICH MAY RESULT IN EXCESSIVE NOISE AND/OR LOSS OF STEERING.
Fix: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE ANY LOOSE FRONT DAMPER BRACKET BOLTS OR SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT IF NECESSARY. DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE ACCORD V6 IF NECESSARY. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DECEMBER 23, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

Your car's sub-frame (the metal structure that holds suspension components) has developed significant corrosion, rust, and cracks, along with corrosion on the control arms. An independent repair shop verified this damage. This appears to be a known issue affecting multiple model years of this vehicle.

*What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Replace both front lower ball joints with proper front alignment as advised in TSB: Replace both of the front lower ball joints with updated service parts made to address this specific symptom. If the ball joints were previously replaced, then replace both front knuckle assemblies. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Faulty defective front lower ball joints installed on the vehicle that is considered a safety risk according to the certified Honda service tech that inspected the vehicle. Certified Honda service technician advised ball joints could separate from the front knuckle allowing the suspension to separate from the wheel while vehicle is in motion that could result in potential injury or possible death. Safety of others may be at risk due to other owners may not be aware of the TSB bulletin and vehicle may not reproduce noise or problems due to internal/external factors. *Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, confirmed by Honda certified service technician. *Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle was first inspected by Pep boys (could not duplicate the noise and visual inspection passed. Took the vehicle to Honda service for second opinion. Service technician followed TSB procedures to duplicate the confirmed noise and diagnose the problem was related to the TSB bulletin provided by Honda. *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warnings, messages or symptoms identified unless the vehicle is in motion during extremely hot temperatures. Visual confirmation fails due to component failure inside the defective part. Vehicle does not always duplicate the noise unless proper conditions are available.
Axle broke on passenger side. Broken parts unavailable. Car stopped at a busy intersection. No warning. Parking brake failed to engage at the same time.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINT WAS LOOSE AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I KEEP HEARING WHINING SOUNDS UNDER HOOD. I INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS POWER STEERING BECAUSE IT WAS A LITTLE LOW. HOWEVER, AFTER TOPPING IT OFF, IT CONTINUES AND SOMETIMES GET EVEN LOUDER. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED CRACKING SOUND FROM WHEEL WHEN DRIVING. IT'S REALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN ROADS/STREETS ARE UNEVEN. IT SOUNDS LIKE WHEELS ARE GOING TO ROLL OFF AT ANY TIME. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY DRIVER SIDE MAP LIGHT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, DRIVER SIDE MAP LIGHT WORKS ON RARE OCCASIONS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT LIGHT ON DRIVER SIDE VISOR SEEMS TO HAVE A SHORT. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING. I OWNED A 98 HONDA ACCORD AND NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES FOR 13 YEARS. I NOTICED THERE HAS BEEN RECALL FOR CERTAIN 2011 HONDA ACCORD FOR SUSPENSION ISSUES. WHY IS THIS CAR NOT INCLUDED?
2011 HONDA ACCORD WHEEL BEARINGS BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WENT BAD AT 60000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE WAS USED BY MY DAUGHTER FOR COMMUTING TO COLLEGE. IN A WORST CASE SCENARIO A BAD WHEEL BEARING CAN SEIZE UP AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IN MOTION THE CAR WAS VERY LOUD WHILE DRIVING. THIS REPAIR COST $700.00 AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. OWNING MULTIPLE VEHICLES OF NUMEROUS MAKES AND MODELS NEVER HAD A WHEEL BEARING GO BAD. HONDA DID NOT CONTACT NOTIFYING OF THE PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2015. THE FIRST THING THAT I HAD TO FIX WAS THE AXLE ( OUTPUT SHAFT ) SEAL LEAK WHICH THE HONDA DEALER DID NOT WANT TO REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THE CAR ONLY HAD 62,000. ALSO, IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE IN THE BACK WHEN I GO OVER THE SPEED BUMP WHICH IS COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NTB FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE REAR MAIN SEAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS STARTING TO LEAK MOTOR OIL. AND AGAIN, THE HONDA DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE DESPITE THE LOW MILEAGE IT HAS. SEEMS LIKE I NEED TO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM.
OUR CAR WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND WAS STRUCK BY OTHER CAR IN THE RIGHT FRONT. ONE PASSENGER WAS IN FRONT SEAT. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG FULLY DEPLOYED PREVENTING HER FROM IMPACTING WINDSHIELD.THE DRIVER AIR BAG ONLY PARTIALLY DEPLOYED (APPROXIMATELY 1/3 SIZE OF PASSENGERS). THE DRIVER WAS SEVERELY BRUISED BY SEATBELTS. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2011 HONDA ACCORD LX, IT WAS DELIVERED WITH 11 MILES. AFTER I DROVE THE CAR FOR LITTLE OVER 300 MILES IT WAS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND LEFT SIDE SUSPENSION WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE. I CONTACT HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA AND INQUIRE ABOUT THE LOUD NOISE THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY CAR. I THEN CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGH THE CAR FROM TO CHECK IT OUT. I MEET WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND I LET HIM LISTEN TO THE NOISE, HE THEN STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WHICH I FIND VERY STRANGE. ABOUT A FEW DAYS LATER THE LOUD NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION ALSO CAME A NEW PROBLEM A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE LEFT SIDE FRONT SUSPENSION. I CONTACT THE DEALER AND TALK TO SERVICE REP AND EXPLAIN WHAT WAS GOING ON HE CHECK THE SERVICE RECORD AND SAY IT WAS NORMAL. *TR
BRAND NEW 2011 ACCORD V-6 COUPE HAS SO MANY ISUES.THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I EVER OWNED THAT YOU HEAR GASOLINE SPLASHING AROUND THE TANK,WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THE REAR SUSPENSION SQUEAKS,THE TRANSMISSION BUCKS LIKE CRAZY WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING!CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END. I AM GETTING RID OF IT. PIECE OF JUNK. DO NOT BUY ONE!BEEN HORRIBLE AND ONLY HAD IT SINCE 1/1/11. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE FRONT END PASSENGER SIDE AXLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MAKE THE KNOCKING NOISE WHILE TURNING TO LEFT, OR RIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT N012010-01-0301268 THEY ADVISED A FIELD MANAGER WILL CONTACT HIM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 1,750.
