2015 Ford Fusion Electrical Problems

The rear backup camera screen is black or flickers, and sometimes shows an error message like "Camera not available." Ford just issued another recall for rear cameras for this issue, but deliberately excluded Ford Fusion vehicles. They need to include ASAP as this is a known, dangerous issue that can cause an accident.

Rear camera continuously malfunctions with grainy/dark image, just completely failed with message on screen “Rear camera Not Available”. This puts myself and the people and vehicles around me at risk of collision when parking or reversing out of a parking space. This problem is common among many Ford Fusion owners.

The rear camera does not function properly on my 2015 Ford Fusion. Trunk randomly opens on its own. Opens constantly throughout day even when driving down road. Things have blown out of trunk while driving and have caused me to have to pull over on side of road and potentially cause accidents.

I bought this car on march 1, 2015. On march 12, 2015, I was driving from san jose (after watching sharks game) to santa clara (my home) on I-280, in the left most lane, when I saw loss of power, engine light came on and warning said "alert stop safely", but the time I reached the right most lane, the car lost power and stopped (30 sec).

I have been having issues with the vehicle where it will stall. This even happened when I was driving on the NJ turnpike, it stalled while driving and I had to pull over (thankfully I could) to restart the vehicle. It took the dealer 3 weeks to finally figure out the issue and tracked it down to a bad BCM (Body Control Module).

In November 2024 my back up camera failed. The dealership diagnosed a failed camera and installed a new one for $ 800. In July 2025 the camera failed again.

My backup camera has started to glitch like the other 2015 fords that are in recall. The screen will get green lines through it, go black, flip horizontal/vertical, flash on and off, it creates more of a distraction than assistance and makes it very hard to back in/out of tight spaces. I have not taken it to the dealership.

Back up camera stops working while in the middle of backing up, sometimes it does not work at all.

The transmission shift bushing fell off and my gear shift is stuck in park while the transmission indicator is registering as neutral. This was a recall for many Ford Fusion models but apparently not mine, although it is certainly the same issue the other models were experiencing. The bushing lubricant/bushing appears to have worn down over time resulting in this issue.

Headlights do not work. I have replaced the low beams bulbs 3 times since purchasing my car over three years ago and each time the lights only work for a brief period of time them seem to short out unexpectedly, for no reason whatsoever. The high beams have been replaced multiple times as well. I purchased the fluorescent bulbs for better night vision. The lights were bright for a short period them dimmed and are only as bright as they should be if they were on low beam. This is some sort of an electrical issue or something to do with a manufacturer’s defect. Since I purchased my vehicle almost 4 years ago, there has been an ongoing issue with the transmission or alternator. The car “jumps out of gear” when putting the vehicle into park or when shifting the vehicle into drive from park. There is also a constant loud “humming/vibration” sound that clicks on and off continuously once the car is initially crunk up. The passenger door is coming off due to the loosening of bolts I assume but I’m not certain. Nothing has happened to cause this issue. The power outlets in the vehicle get extremely hot at times and cause phone cords to heat up. This has caused my phone to be destroyed! The rear view camera is now blurry with lines going through it. This is only happening when the car is put into reverse and rear view camera is in use. The Bluetooth and media in the vehicle gets stuck on “Sync Line In” & at times will not change to any other setting. This seems to be an electronic issue as well. There have been MANY recalls on my vehicle and I have taken it to the Ford dealership for repair each time however, none of these issue have been resolved . I am a single mother who work’s full time and is a full time student. This is my only form of transportation. I should not have to worry rather or not my car is safe for my children and I.

My trunk.just randomly opens also ever time I use my remote it will open the latch just clicks if I start the car the trunk opens many many times if I get in super quick close the doors and lock the doors it will stay closed this is not correct Ford just tells you to bring it in and nothing ever happens this is ongoing for most of the escapes fusions focus newer and alder mine is a 2015 fusion 1.5 eco boost This really needs to be fixed there’s to many other problems these cars have bad transmission using coolant cracked blocks electric power steering growling like mine does just stinks spend good money for all these problems

The side mirrors adjust to a position on their own. They also become fixed in this position and are unable to move. Not sure why this happens.

Randomly and without warning, the entire climate control system shuts off as well as the entire center console. The only message during this period is "temporarily lost communication with climate control". the rear backup camera does not work at all.I am elderly and cannot turn my head over my shoulders.the screen is constantly blue when I need to reverse and the message that the camera is malfunctioning is on the blue screen.Ford has a lot of rear camera issues on their late modle vehicles.they have admitted that vehicles going back to when they introduced the rear cameras that they do not work and it seems that the fusions have been forgotten about.THIS IS WRONG WAY TO THINK AND WE NEED A RECALL.I have friends and family that have affected vehicles and we are all complaining.Ford needs to own up to this and they need to do right or we will not be buying Ford anymore.Do Better Ford,lives are at stake.

I've already submitted this complaint before and nothing is done by it and investigator investigated this but I'm still continuing to have this problem and Ford will not fix the issue unless I spend thousands of dollars. I am having an issue with the safety airbag system the AC system not working The windows do not work, passenger windows don't work , AC control system doesn't function...

When pressing the start/stop button for the engine, the plastic chrome retaining ring collapsed. This resulted in the entire start/stop switch assembly falling into the dashboard. Causing an issue with turning off and on the engine, as per manufacturer guidelines and in a safe manner.

Electrical system failure on multiple components. Upon start entertainment system (radio, nav, etc.) is inoperable, A/C does not function, windows will not roll down. Has happened on multiple occasions.

At approximately 80,000 miles, the ABS censor came on, along with three other lights, one of which is traction control. The brakes begin acting out of control and power steering goes out. When a door is opened while the car is stationary but in gear or the brakes are applied while on an incline and the vehicle stops on an incline, the parking brake engages but the dashboard light does not illuminate. Ford sync loose connectivity once a month, only way to reset is to unplug the battery when this happens. This a defect of driving safety and handsfree driving.

I was driving in heavy traffic -- lots of stop and go -- when my knee hit the ignition key fob and apparently turned it into the acc position. Car shut down and message "transmission not in park" appeared on the display. I turned on the emergency blinkers and drifted over to the side of the 4-lane highway.
