FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles with a 2.0L GDI or 2.0L GTDI engine. The Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began August 19, 2019. Owners may contact Ford Customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S32. Note: Until the vehicle is serviced for this concern, owners are advised to keep the fuel tank at least halfway full.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2.0L GDI gasoline engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDI engines, previously recalled under 18V-735. The affected vehicles did not have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) updated as intended. Therefore, the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the CPV as needed. If the CPV is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S22.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford Focus vehicles manufactured May 1, 2014, to May 24, 2014, 2014 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured on June 6, 2014, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles manufactured June 4, 2014, to July 7, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) may crack between the filter body and the filter cap, possibly resulting in low fuel pressure.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the FDM, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S20.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) notified the agency on January 8, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2014 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured April 15, 2014, to May 8, 2014, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles manufactured April 21, 2014, to May 15, 2014. On April 30, 2015, Ford expanded the recall to cover an additional 45,505 vehicles, including certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured November 11, 2013, to August 29, 2014, 2014-2015 Ford Fiesta vehicles manufactured April 10, 2014, to June 17, 2014 and 2014 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured April 30, 2014, to May 21, 2014. Improper nickel plating of components within the fuel pump may result in the fuel pump failing.

Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14S30.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled while the RPM was elevated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road on one occasion, and the vehicle was pushed to the side of the road on the other occasions. The vehicle was restarted after an extended time. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the canister purge valve and the TCM had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the canister purge valve replacement was covered under Ford Campaign Number: 24N07, and a repair fee would be charged for the TCM replacement. I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2014 Ford Focus due to recurring error codes P0456 (Very Small Leak Detected), P1450 (Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum), and P2190 (System Too Rich at Idle). These issues relate to the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) and fuel tank system, which have caused symptoms such as intermittent Check Engine Light warnings, fuel odor, and difficulty refueling. These problems were confirmed by an independent service center during diagnostic testing, but the dealership refused to perform a goodwill fix, citing that my vehicle is not currently included in related recalls. This is particularly concerning because a large number of 2014 Ford Focus vehicles—approximately 1.5 million—have been recalled for similar issues with the EVAP and fuel systems, which pose risks such as fuel vapor leaks and stalling due to fuel system pressure irregularities. Although my VIN is not listed under the recall, the identical symptoms strongly suggest my vehicle should be included. I have not had the vehicle inspected by Ford or other representatives, but I urge NHTSA to investigate further as this is a significant safety concern that endangers me and others on the road.

My card was recalled several years ago for a Purge Valve Canister. It was repaired but would still cut out sometimes. It is doing it again now, as a matter of fact when you pull up to a light or sudden stop it will stall the engine. Also when you fill up with gas, it does not want to start. I know that when it was fixed, the problem was a band aid fix. There is something in the vehicle causing this Purge Valve canister to malfunction. I think it should be covered under the SAME RECALL and it should be paid for by FORD.

Additionally, the vehicle hesitated to start and failed to start right away after a jumpstart. The contact was later able to start the vehicle. The RPM also fluctuated while the vehicle was idling. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who reset the check engine warning light; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who retrieved DTC Code: P1450 and determined that the canister purge valve (CPV) and fuel vapor system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. I purchased a new 2014 Ford Focus Electric (FFE) in 2014. I have learned since then that every FFE develops a high voltage battery, the battery that powers the electric motor, coolant leak at no more than 80,000 miles, rendering the car inoperable. Ford will not repair the leak and will only sell a replacement battery. Ford has not issued a recall and is allowing the cooling system for a battery made from a highly combustible material to fail. The cooling system failure also requires the driver to get off the road immediately with the "Stop safely now" message and leaves the driver stranded with a useless car. Check engine light came on due to the code P0442. It was caused by a faulty purge valve, which my car was already recalled due to this. To my knowledge the valve was replaced. The check engine light is on again, same code. The purge valve was replaced again, but the engine light did not turn off. Upon further inspection, the fuel tank is deformed. The purge valve defect can cause the fuel tank to be vacuumed in on itself, and there happens to be another recall on this issue. My car is not part of this recall. Not only is the check engine light on for the deformed fuel tank, but my MPG number does not match up with the amount of mileage I actually have left. There needs to be another recall with the cars that were not in the original group recalled.

My Ford Focus died on me at a stop sign, when trying to start it sounded it seemed like it ran out of gas, put gas in and it leaked out onto the ground. I had it towed to the Sewell Ford in Fayetteville AR 72703. They replaced the R Tube Asv-Fuel Vapour Separa, Fuel Cannister-fuel vapour store, E Tank Esy-Fuel, Ax Sender and Pump Asy and AA Gasket. They said this happened because of pressure in the gas tank. They looked up the recall, that this is associated with and a Ford location in Frisco said it didn't need to be fixed. Obviously it did. I paid 3,173.88 for the repair work. I called Ford Corp number and they stated same as the other Ford location is we closed out without being repaired. Is there anything i can do?

I called Ford and was told this recall was no longer active. The vehicle and component are available for inspection as needed. Due to the vehicle stalling at any time this can cause a dangerous situation, especially at highway speeds. Additionally, the vehicle resists starting which could potentially leave us stranded. The check engine light is activated due to this problem which was diagnosed via On-board diagnostics device.

The vehicle would stall and had to be restarted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with fuel system failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The components and systems that failed are my engine and gas tank, they both are available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk, approximately two minutes before my vehicle slowed down enough to stop my brakes wouldn’t work. Yes I have called the dealership and the problems that the representative listed explaining a recall; is what I have been experiencing with my vehicle. Yes, 6/15/2022 the day after my engine failed my car was diagnosed by All 4 U Auto and he confirmed that the engine had blown and along with the gasoline tank both needed replacements. No, there were no warning lamps nor messages prompting alerts of my vehicle. There were several symptoms of the problem prior to the failure that occurred before and after the Ford recall; 18S32. I completed the recall fuel tank deformation 1/3/2019. I am still experiencing issues with my gas tank, which are listed on the official Ford website. I can only pump approximately 80 miles worth of gas or 1/4 full worth of gas. If I pump anymore the vehicle will stall and require for me to restart it multiple times 2 - 10, the more I “over pump” the more I will have to restart and longer it will stall. During pumping even 1/4 worth of gas my entire vehicle will shake and make a loud sound, and with re cranking causing engine malfunction. The website mentions; “Owners are advised to maintain at least a half tank of fuel until their vehicle is serviced for this issue.” although I can only pump 1/4 full worth of gas at a time. Another issue is I cannot leave the vehicle idle over 5 minutes, even when in traffic if I do not keep driving up 6 inches every five minutes it will turn off. This problem has negatively affected my battery, on a few occasions leaving the vehicle idle has caused my battery to need to be recharged and replaced. Lastly the vehicle does exactly what the recall mentions; “inaccurate fuel gauge readings”. While pumping gas the mileage on the dashboard sometimes does not increase. I am requesting an entirely new vehicle replacement, or at least a new motor engine, gasoline tank, catalytic converter and battery. I believe the malfunctioning of these products were due to the recall 18S32, which caused stalling and repeated re cranking of my vehicle.

This vehicle is experiencing a relapse of the same issues that led to a previous recall. It is experiencing fuel tank issues where the fuel gauge is unreliable and acts as though it is out of fuel despite reporting 1/4 tank. This has put the safety of occupants at risk as we were barely able to get off the highway in time before the vehicle came to a sudden and complete stop. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer as to do so will result in exorbitant out of pocket expense since Ford claims to have fixed the recall issue. That however, is not the case when it reoccurs a year later. Neither police nor insurance have inspected the vehicle as I was unaware that was a possibility The warning lamps that displayed were similar to a vehicle stalling out, which should not happen in an automatic transmission vehicle. It needs to be noted that this is a reoccurring issue of an allegedly fixed recall and Ford refuses to take any action on the matter.

my 2014 Ford Focus had a check engine light sensor alert on October 4th 2021. I scheduled for an appointment to have the vehicle serviced on October 18th 2021(closest time available). During the two week period I had noticed when I pumped gas that the engine seemed to have stalled when I tried to turn on the ignition. The second time the vehicle finally turned on but there was a low rumble noise. I gassed up a second time and I just heard a low rumble from the vehicle when I started the ignition. on 10/16/2021, I was low on gas but my low tank sensor did not go off so I figured I was okay to drive until I came to a gas station. My vehicle ended up stalling on a freeway while I was driving and I started to decelerate from 65 MPH to 60 and slowly decreasing. Nearly avoiding an accident I had my hazard lights on and slowly made my way to the emergency lane where I came to a complete stop and called for a tow. Upon getting my car serviced they determined that I needed a new fuel tank, fuel pump and purge valve due to the tank being warped. I had run out of gas, but my gauge and sensor did not detect that. Apparently this was a recall item a few years back but the manufacture said that my VIN was not on the recall list so I will have to pay this out of pocket.

I know exactly what's wrong because it's a recall that's on certain Ford focuses of this year but apparently not mine for some reason even though I have the problem but it's the emissions control valve that's stuck open my car stalls out after I fuel. I'm having an extreme loss of power sometimes just being me having to push the pedal more down to losing all acceleration all together to where it shuts down the cruise control when I'm on the highway. It's running real rough on idle all of which are signs of this recall but because it's not covered under my car I'm having to pay $100 just to put the car in the shop to have them look at it and tell me what I already know and then I'm going to have to pay whatever it costs to repair it which I'm sure it's going to be 3 to $500 for a problem they've already admitted to lying about before and obviously are lying about now when they say that this series of Ford focus 2014 was not affected so now I have to pay out of pocket for being a Ford customer so I hope it's worth it to them to lose me as a customer for the rest of my life because of something that would have cost them two or $300. And my family for generations have been lifelong ford buyers my family is well known at our local trotter Ford my grandparents literally buy a new car every year and say they're taking their business elsewhere after finding out about this so I don't see where they think they're saving money by lying like they are.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE 'STOP SAFELY NOW' ALERT CAME ON AND DISABLED POWER TO THE CAR. AFTER TRYING MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO LUCK, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. I KNOW THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN BY FORD SINCE SOME RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BUT TO TRY TO REPAIR THE CONCERN. MY CAR'S 'ELECTRIC UNIQUE COMPONENT' 8 YEAR WARRANTY IS STILL VALID BUT FORD IS TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLES 12V BATTERY DIED DUE TO THE PROBLEM BUT THEY MADE ME PURCHASE A NEW ONE FOR $180. I BELIEVE I SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CHARGED SINCE THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE CARS DEFECT. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR 2 WEEKS WITH NO RESOLUTION. A FEW DAYS AFTER, I STARTED NOTICING ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION, DECELERATION, AND FUEL GAUGE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT FIXING THE FUEL TANK RECALL AND TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE VEHICLE WILL FIX THE ISSUES. I TOOK OFF A DAY FROM WORK AND TOOK TO OURISMAN FORD & LINCOLN IN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF WAITING, I WAS TOLD THAT I WILL HAVE TO DROP IT OFF ANOTHER DAY BECAUSE SOME PART(S) WILL BE ORDERED. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER, I DROPPED IT OFF AND IT STAYED FOR OVER 3 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. TOOK TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM RUN THE CODE. TWO CODES CAME BACK AND BOTH ARE RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE RECALLS IN QUESTION INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE CAN STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING, AND THIS INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN A COLLISION. THE CAR IS NOW NOT RUNNING AT ALL. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD HAS TAKEN CLOSE TO A YEAR TO FIX THEIR ERRORS WHICH HAVE CAUSED THESE RECALLS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SAFETY IS A CONCERN.

THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER FUELING AND IT COULD TAKE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5 MINUTES TO UPWARDS OF 45 MINUTES FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO START AFTER FUELING, WHICH LEAVES ME STRANDED AT TIMES. THEIR REPAIR LASTED ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AND IT WAS BACK TO DOING IT AGAIN SO I AM BACK AT SQUARE 1 WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP AGAIN AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF WAITING TO GET IN THE SHOP. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE JIM TRENARY FORD DEALSHIP IN MOSCOW MILLS, MO WHERE I RESIDE. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE PURGE VALVE IS FAILING DUE TO THE RECALL, AS THE RECALL STATES EXACTLY. IT IS NOT MY OBLIGATION TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AS THIS IS 100% FORD'S FAULT AND I WILL NOT PROVIDE PAYMENT FOR IT. FORD ISSUES THE NEW RECALL (19S22) AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL BUT YET IT NEEDS TO BE AS THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. MY HOPE IS THAT YOU CAN "ENCOURAGE" FMC TO TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND MAKE THE NECESSARY PARTS AVAILABLE ON AN EXPEDITED BASIS. I TOLD THEM THAT THOSE THINGS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS PART OF THE RECALL. THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO FORD INTERNAL SOMETHING AND FORD SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED AND THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY NOW. I HAVE A 2014 FORD FOCUS. I HAD ISSUES WITH THE GAS TANK FILLING STARTING AT THE END OF 2018. I ALSO STALLED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY PRIOR TO THIS. I INFORMED THE DEALER OF THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO THE COMPLETION OF THE RECALL WHICH IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DEFECT (SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 18S32 /NHTSA RECALL 18V-735). THE DEALER COMPLETED THE SOFTWARE UPDATE RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE GAS TANK STILL EXHIBITED ISSUES FILLING (WHICH ONLY EMERGED AROUND THE STALLING ' THIS IS RELATED TO THE RECALL). THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS COMPLETED, I RECEIVED A P1450 ERROR CODE RELATED TO AN EVAP CANNISTER ERROR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE REPAIR ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER (WHO HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL) STATED THAT FORD WAS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT TO THIS FOR THIS REPAIR. FORD, ON THEIR WEBSITE STATES, 'DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE, CARBON CANISTER, FUEL TANK AND FUEL DELIVERY MODULE, AS NECESSARY. THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE FOR THESE SERVICES.' FURTHER EFFORTS TO SPEAK TO FORD DIRECTLY ABOUT THIS HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS A TECHNICAL ISSUE WITH BILLING THAT FORD REFUSES TO ADDRESS. AS A RESULT, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE EVAP CANNISTER AT MY OWN EXPENSE ($331.39). THE P1450 CODE CAME BACK ON AFTER THIS REPAIR. THEREFORE THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT ANY FURTHER RECALL RELATED REPAIRS WILL BE AT MY EXPENSE BECAUSE FORD REFUSES TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE REIMBURSEMENT. THEIR ADVICE IS TO KEEP THE GAS TANK FILLED ABOVE HALF BUT I HAVE STALLED AFTER DRIVING 30 MILES AFTER FILLING UP. I HAD THEM INSPECT MY CAR AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I ASKED ABOUT THE STALLING AND THEY SAID WAIT FOR THE SOFTWARE. I GUESS THEY EXPECT THAT I WALK TO WORK UNTIL THEY FIX THE ISSUE. I HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THEY RECOMMEND I WAIT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY ARE UNSURE IF THE PART WILL FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT THE SOFTWARE. I ALREADY HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR A FAMILY EMERGENCY AND DONT WANT TO GET STRANDED WHILE DRIVING TO WORK BECAUSE I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A FAULTY CAR WITH NO FIX. DARCARS FOUND PROBLEM: SEIZED FUEL CANISTER THAT DAMAGED THE FUEL PUMP AND CAUSED FUEL TANK TO IMPLODE. ALL PARTS WERE REPLACED. (3) AFTER REPAIRS, GAS MILEAGE WAS BETTER BUT NOT BACK TO NORMAL. USED TO GET > 30 ML/GAL, & WHEN I FILLED UP, DISPLAY ALWAYS SAID >400 ML TO EMPTY. NOW I GET 27-28 ML/GAL, AND AFTER FILL-UP DISPLAY SAYS ~330 ML TO EMPTY. (4) I RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL 18V-735 IN 12/18. IT INDICATED THERE WAS NO FIX YET. (5) SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE FOR 1/30/19 AND ASKED DARCARS FOR STATUS OF RECALL. AS MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A FAILED PART AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL SERVICE, ONLY A PCM UPDATE WAS PERFORMED. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE, THE PURGE VALVE FAILED AND CAUSED RANDOM STALLS OF THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. FORD CLAIMS THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND I, THE CONSUMER, AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS, EVEN WITH THE ORIGINAL PART, SUBJECT TO THE RECALL 18S32, WAS THE FAULT FOR THE ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE RE-OPENED ON ALL THE VEHICLES THAT DID NOT HAVE THE PURGE VALVE REPLACED AND THE PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO PREVENT FUTURE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE.

WOULD NOT OFFER A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL DEEMED SAFE TO DRIVE ("AN ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.")... ALTHOUGH IN THE RECALL LETTER RECEIVED SAYS "MAY INCREASE RISK OF CRASH". BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT, RAW FUEL CAN BE SUCKED THROUGH THE EVAP CANISTER THROUGH THE PURGE VALVE DIRECTLY INTO THE ENGINE, CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL OR HESITATE WHILE DRIVING, WHICH CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS. MY CAR IS A 2014 AND HAS APPROX. 27K MILES ON IT. I NOW WILL HAVE TO PAY $1960 IN REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE EVAP PURGE VALVE, THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL PUMP, AND THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, WHICH HAVE ALL BEEN DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE VALVE FAILURE. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND THE NHTSA GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, INCLUDING COMPLAINTS THAT PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HARMED, AS THEY LOST CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY OR MAJOR ROAD. A DOCUMENTED RECALLL HAS OCCURRED IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND OVER THIS VERY SAME ISSUE FORD A US MANUFACTURED CAR YET NO RECALL IN THE US. THE FIRST WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY IN FEBRUARY. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF WAY OF TRAFFIC BEFORE IT CAME TO COMPLETE STOP. I TOOK IT TO FORD ON 2/24/16 AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A RECALL TO FIX THIS (I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL). THEY MADE THE REPAIRS AND SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. ON 4/18/16, THE CAR AGAIN COMPLETELY STOPPED AS I ENTERED AN INTERSECTION AND "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN. A SEMI-TRUCK BEHIND ME CAME TO A SKIDDING STOP, A FEW FEET FROM MY BUMPER. I WAS VERY LUCKY ONCE AGAIN TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO NEWARK FORD AGAIN ON 4/18/16 AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE. I ASKED IF WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY SAID "ABSOLUTELY", THEY DON'T SEE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. ON 4/21, THE CAR AGAIN SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING 50MPH. THE SAME MESSAGE"STOP SAFELY NOW" APPEARED. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE LAST TWO TIMES THIS HAPPENED. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY SAID IF THE MECHANICS SAID THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I SAID I DON'T FEEL SAFE SINCE THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. HE SAID IF YOU DON'T FEEL SAFE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE THE CAR. I TOLD HIM THAT IS NOT A GOOD SOLUTION AS I AM PAYING FORD TO LEASE THE CAR AND NEED TRANSPORTATION. HE SAID THERE IS NOTHING FORD CAN DO, IT HAS TO GO THROUGH THE STATE, FORD IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. HOW CAN I FEEL SAFE DRIVING A CAR THAT MIGHT SUDDENLY STOP AT ANY TIME?? THE DEALERSHIP IS INSTRUCTED NOT TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP UNLESS THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED AT LEAST THREE TIMES SINCE JUNE FOR UNRELATED PROBLEMS. SAFETY IS SO IMPORTANT THAT I RECEIVED A REMINDER NOTICE IN NOVEMBER. YET, THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP UNTIL THEY CAN PROVE A PROBLEM EXISTS. I HAVE WRITTEN TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SUPPORT (SEE DOCUMENTS ATTACHED) ONLY TO RECEIVE THE SAME RESPONSE. FORD SAYS THERE ARE LIMITED SUPPLIES OF PARTS AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS AND WAS TAKEN INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR ON JUNE 10. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND THAT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. THEY ARE TELLING US ALMOST 2 MONTHS LATER THAT IT IS STILL ON BACK ORDER WITH NO PROJECTED SHIP DATE. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO HAVE A CAR THAT HESITATES DURING ACCELERATION, AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER WHEN THEY ARE IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE STARTED MAY OF 2014 WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS AT 13,000 MILES. WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT AS I RELEASE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR WILL SHAKE IN IDLE. ONCE I PRESS ON THE GAS THE RPMS WILL SLOWLY GO TO AROUND 2000 RPMS. AT THIS POINT THE ENTIRE CAR WILL SHAKE THEN JUMP INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THIS IS HIGHLY UNSAFE AS THE CAR WILL JUMP FORWARD. I HAVE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. LUCKLY NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS ESTABLISHED BY FORD. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN ON TWO OCCASIONS AND AM GOING TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION. FROM MY DISCUSSIONS WITH FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED AS NOTHING HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED. IF THEY WOULD DRIVE THE CAR FOR MORE THEN A COUPLE MILES THEY WOULD FEEL THE ISSUE.
