The check engine light comes on; check and advise. The Ford dealer performed an EEC test, retrieved codes P1674 and P0122, tested the system, and found the wiring harness rubbing at the intake manifold. They disassembled to gain access, repaired the wiring harness at the engine, wrapped and re-routed the harness, cleaned all codes, and retested. It passed the road test and was OK, but the dealer charged me for this harness repair, and I found that this exact issue was subject to a Ford Motor Company safety recall (Recall 14S17 / NHTSA Recall 14V-495) concerning the engine wiring harness.
Actuator motor went out. Transmission was eligible to be replaced in 2020 however due to Covid they “could not get the parts” and the vehicle became too old for replacement. The transmissions and gear boxes on this module has been plagued with failures, and Ford needs to remove the mileage and year limitations to fix them. I ended up paying over $900 and then traded the vehicle in so that I wouldn’t have to spend more on a faulty transmission.
My car was experiencing: Shuddering or jerking during acceleration from a stop, most noticeable in traffic; Rough or delayed gear shifting, especially between first and second gear; Sudden loss of drive or delays before the car engages in drive or reverse, et cetera. It was in essence having every symptom that your agency has required ford to fix in their 2014 Focus,a car that I have as well; however, not sure why my car wasn't listed in recall because it has identical issues. For cost saving purposes, I replaced the actuators myself, and asked Ford if they could do the reprogramming for me, which is required after replacement, and they will not do so without an exorbitant costs.
I just bought my focus from CarMax and it shudders when I pull out. It makes me feel like the car will stall.
Order of Events · [XXX]: Vehicle shut down mid-drive, displaying “Parking Brake Fault Service Required.” Required tow ($100). · September 27, 2025: Firestone Complete Auto Care diagnosed the issue as transmission-related. Paid $48.13 for diagnostic (receipt attached). · September 27, 2025: Contacted Green Ford in Greensboro, NC (Service Advisor Josh Oldham). VIN was entered in Ford’s database, which showed no outstanding field service actions. I showed them a recall letter for the exact issue at hand (replacement of Transmission Control Module). My recall letter was dismissed as invalid despite being in hand. Vehicle towed to dealer ($120). · September 29, 2025: Spent over 1 hour 19 minutes with Ford Customer Relationship Center, providing the recall number (14M02). Ford agent ultimately stated the recall could not be honored. · September 30 – October 1, 2025: Dealer confirmed by text and phone that their management refused to apply the recall or cover repairs. VIN Discrepancy The core of this dispute is a direct contradiction between Ford’s official communications and Ford’s internal VIN database. Customer Satisfaction Program Letter (14M02): - VIN listed as covered under recall/extended warranty. - Coverage extended through June 2025. - Sent directly by Ford in August 2023. Ford Vehicle Information / Warranty Report (via Green Ford, 9/27/2025): - Same VIN entered into Ford’s system. - Shows 'No Outstanding Field Service Actions.' - Dealer therefore refused to honor recall despite letter. Before all of this happened I had no issues with the vehicle since purchase, and so when I received the letter I kept it but did not need to utilize it. Now Ford has stated I am "outside" the warranty of what Ford is willing to cover for repairs, however their own system does not even list that I have a recall for this. Was driving the car and it just stalled in the middle of the road and wouldn't start
The warranty was extended on the transmission control module (TCM) instead of a recall. Symptoms of the TCM include “intermittent loss of transmission engagement while driving, no start, or lack of power”. All potentially very dangerous in my opinion. It is also my opinion (and others) that a failing TCM can harm the clutch. My TCM was reprogrammed in 2019 and the clutch (under warranty at the time) was replaced. Last week the TCM was replaced at no charge and the clutch was replaced again but at a cost of $3,571.77 this time. I was driving on an interstate highway when a warning light came on and minutes later the car went into neutral. Fortunately for me I was able to get off an exit and pull over on the exit ramp shoulder. I see online that many others are having similar problems. Some might not be as lucky as I was.
Engine service now popped up on my dashboard and the car did not want to drive it wanted to stall out and die, car is not driveable. Have not had the car long only 8 months I’ve had this car, this car has been having transmission issues since we bought it and we also were sold this car with a known recall. Dealership will not do anything to fix these issues and I am going to be without a car and way to work.

The vehicle was driven to a local independent mechanic where it was advised to have the vehicle diagnosed by the dealer. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the RPM clutch shudder was at 349 when the normal RPM was 250 and that disks 1 to 3 were burned due to overuse. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the vehicle remained in the dealer possession pending repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
Transmission went out
There was a Purge Valve Replacement and a Valve cover replacement recall on other Ford Focus Models. Ford Customer Service personnel and website stated not on my model.

My clutch which we paid out of pocket for the first time we need to get it fixed and I only had the car for 6 months when the clutch went out the first time then only a year later I had to get it fixed again and got it under warranty and then the following year I had to get it fixed and it was covered again under warranty and now 2023 again a year later my clutch went out and even tho my clutch was covered under a two year warranty they are refusing to fix my clutch because it is a "transmission issue" even after running my diagnostic it clearly states it is a CLUTCH issue and since they are calling it a "transmission issue" my car can no longer be fixed and covered under warranty because it is not a "transmission issue" it is a CLUTCH issue. I have only ever gotten my car fixed from Ford and we cant understand why this is a recurring issue and there for WHY FORD CANNOT FIX THIS ISSUE.
The engine control module failure. I was on a busy two lane highway and my car stalled out almost causing me to get hit from the back. I had to be pushed off the busy road from a police officer so I wouldn’t get hit by the heavy trucks. This is a dangerous for anyone whom experienced this. An investigation need to or process

The vehicle was parked and after lifting the hood, the contact noticed extreme heat coming from the engine compartment. The following day after driving and parking the vehicle anti-freeze was leaking from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who determined that the anti-freeze was leaking from a hole in the radiator. The contact was informed that the radiator needed to be replaced. There are 2 recalls listed for my vehicle, 1) the Transmission Control Module, and 2) the Transmission Clutch Shudder. I had brought my car in to the dealership a couple of years ago to ask about the two issues/recalls listed, as my transmission was overheating and I was unable to accelerate, and the engine shuttered when shifting between 1st and 3rd gear, and was told that the Transmission Clutch Shudder recall had expired and the active recall, the Transmission Control Module, could not be repaired due to parts being on backorder, and I was told that the parts for that specific recall were not longer being made. The clutch recall lasted for 7 years and/or to 100k miles, whichever came first. My car is under 100k, and I had gotten the car in 2017, but it is a 2014 model so that recall cannot be covered by the dealership. I have been informed, though, that the Clutch issue directly correlates to the function of the TCM (transmission), so without that issue being resolved, the TCM will continue to have issues. I understand that the warranty has expired for one recall, but since it directly correlates to the function of the other recall, it doesn't make sense to have one expire before the other. Without it resolved, my transmission runs the risk of overheating again, and in previous instances I have had to pull over on highways, on roads where there were no safe places to pull off, and delayed other drivers due to the cars inability to accelerate properly, which has occurred at stop signs and at traffic lights which poses a risk to my safety and others. The dealership has informed me that the issue is in relation to the two recalls, but again with one expired I am expected to cover it even though the issue lies with Ford.
Error p2196 and p1450 issue with PCM, EVAP and bank 1 sensor know issues and recalls on same year make and model st I have an se having same problem
Oil cooler failed forcing engine oil in cooling system. ECU did not indicate any overheat, low oil pressure or check engine light. By the time the vehicle was parked and shut off no oil was left in the oil pan. Oil/coolant covered the passenger wheel well and tire/rim. Probably a good idea to have a bigger OEM oil cooler rather than using coolant to cool the engine oil. Oil cooler failure was confirmed by ASE certified mechanics. Oil/coolant could possibly cause loss of traction, overheat condition and total engine failure with no oil providing lubricant to internal components and the turbo. Total repair costs are $1200 for a part that is $100 or $250 in the aftermarket world. Repair cost could have been much higher if vehicle would have been running any longer.
The transmission control module cause my car to only work in drive. I was in a rural area without adequate resources or any warning that the module would go out. After being able to get if eventually towed to a dealership they fixed the tcm module and then informed that the clutch in my vehicle with an automatic transmission was out and the vehicle was now stuck in reverse. The clutch going out is a result of the tcm component wearing out the clutch this information was provided by a ford mechanic. Both the parts are faulty in the vehicle leaving drivers stuck in places without any warning that they will soon need to be serviced. Ford covers repairs for some of these things under their customer satisfaction program; however, that does not remedy the fact that the parts are faulty and will need constant repair throughout the vehicles lifetime.
Transmission fault!!! Once I noticed the previous recall on the gas tank valve it ultimately stopped my vehicle. I cannot drive it due to first running out of gas from fault in miles to empty. Car would out of nowhere stop driving as well as barely start. The gas already reading incorrect, the. Now the transmission light continues to come on. I almost crashed more than once with kids in the car due to it after 2hours of driving fine, immediately stopping and not allowing the car to drive. Gas tank recall when sent into the dealership yet the issue is still there. It is obvious because the miles to empty are still wrong cause me to possibly put too much has not enough gas. It is very unsafe to drive.

There is a CSP recall on shudder clutch. The car shudders to the extreme and sometimes doesn't shift into second or third gear for 2-3 seconds nearly causing accidents while merging onto highways several times. I contacted I have taken it to the Ford dealership 3 times and called Ford and now want to acknowledge that that is the problem, but unfortunately the warranty has expired. I have been dealing with this for two years.
I went to get into my car and it wouldn’t start. I called a tow truck to have it brought to my mechanic. It wouldn’t go in reverse once it did start. My mechanic thought it was the transmission module. I had it towed to Walls Ford Deslership. They stated it was the shift stuck in my transmission. Somehow it controls the power, etc. my car only has 51,000 miles on it and was past the 6 year warranty. It cost me $2,550 to fix it. I believe with all the transmission issues on the Ford Focus vehicles, this issue should have been covered and not paid out of pocket.
The rpm of the car all of a sudden felt like it was being forced just to accelerate. When I get to certain velocity the cars rpm shuts up and then come down again. After that it started saying that the transmission was getting over heated and that I needed to stop safely.
Took my vehicle to a dealership for TCM work they could not see anything wrong with it even though I had the check engine light on for it and read the code and it said it was the TCM. took it to the dealership again they said they replaced it but my vehicle is still having the same exact issue intermittently as always. I have been stranded once as it failed JUST after they said they “fixed my car. I didn’t even make it home at least the dealership towed my vehicle again saw nothing wrong with it then said there was a wire that was cut. (That was not there before at this point they were doing things and just wanted money) in the long run they said they fixed everything but my car is still having the stalling of tcm modual part failing and going to neutral. I’ve had almost MULTIPLE car accidents with the TCM going out at stop and go lights, and stop signs. ford NEEDS to fix this issue in all vehicles before someone gets hurt or worse.

Transmission service failure comes on car runs like it is going 90 miles when it's just going at 25 and the car only has 30,000 miles. The system doesn't bring any codes of what's wrong with it and it keeps on doing it. It goes away and it comes back on and acts the same way all over again

I have a big problem with my transmission, when parking the car, I can't reverse and sometimes the gear doesn't enter
Had a transmission fault a week after I bought it in 2019. Dealership did a quick fix and the transmission has been shorty since. Sputters in first gear and just today the rpm’s shot up while on the highway and the check engine light came on. The dealership will not cover this. I feel like they should as it was a known issue from the start.

FRONT TIMING COVER OIL LEAK. FAULTY SILICONE WON'T SEAL.

THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT AT THE RED LIGHTS WHILE WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. THEN MY DAUGHTER HAS TO PUT ON THE HAZARD (SHE IS 17) AND PUT IT PARK, THEN PRAY THE VEHICLE STARTS AGAIN. JUST HAD THE 2 RECALLS DONE HOWEVER WAS TOLD WE NEED BY A PURGE VALVE WHICH I FOUND ONLINE WITH THESE YEAR MODELS WHEN I LOOK UP 2014 FORD FOCUS SHUTTING DOWN DURING WAITING FOR A RED LIGHT. IT ALSO STRUGGLES TO GET IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. IT SHUTTERS AND JUMPS. ONCE YOU GET THE VEHICLE OVER 40-50 MPH ON THE ROAD IT FEELS OKAY BUT WHEN YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, GOOD LUCK. MY DAUGHTER IS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO WALKER FORD, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE HOWEVER ITS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE DRIVING?
PREVIOUSLY GOT RECALLS FIXED ON THE CAR WHICH FIXED ALL STALLING PROBLEMS. 3 MONTHS LATER I GO TO DRIVE AND WHILE IN MOTION IT STARTS STALLING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOCH 33 FORD 3810 HECKTOWN RD, EASTON, PA 18045(610) 810-1145 BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,688.
ON MY WAY HOME, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A CLICKETY CLACKETY NOISE. IT SOUNDED LIKE A BELT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND POPPED THE HOOD. I WATCHED THE BOTTOM GEAR WHEEL BREAK OFF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. HAD I BEEN ON THE ROAD, IT COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO, YOU CAN SEE THE METAL RIPPED CLEAN OFF AT ALL THREE LOCATIONS.
MY FORD FOCUS HAD TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS LOOK AT IT BEFORE PURCHASING PESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO. PASSED ALL INSPECTIONS CAR WAS FINE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULDNT START AT ALL. ALTENATOR AND BATTERY CHECKED. TO START CAR, I HAD TO TAKE EXTENSION CORD FROM HOUSE TO CAR TO USE A BATTERY CHARGER. I COULD DRIVE IT FROM PLACE TO PLACE BUT COULD NOT TURN CAR OFF BC IT NOT STARTING AGAIN. I DROVE LIKE THIS FOR TWO MONTHS. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO WEIRD SOUNDS. I TRIED REPLACING BATTERY AND PROBLEM CONTINUED. REPLACED BATTERY. WAS DRIVING AND IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, CAR WOULDNT GO. ALMOST WAS HIT. CARS HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN CAR WOULDNT ACCELERATE QUICKLY AT.LIGHT. HIT FROM BEHIND AND PASSENGER HAD TO BE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE. RECEIVED TWO RECALL LETTERS IN THE MAIL. CAR IS NOT STORING COMPUTER CODES WHEN IT ACTS UP. ON 7/17/18 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON I CALLED DEALER GOT AN APPOINTMENT FOR 7/17/18, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF BEFORE THE DEALER SAW THE CAR, AND THE ON BOARD COMPUTER DID NOT STORE A CODE FOR THEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALER I DID NOT GET A BLOCK WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING, I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO TURN AROUND AND GO BACK TO THE DEALER HOWEVER THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE, I TRIED A HALF DOZEN TIME TO BACK UP INCLUDING TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. THE CAR NEXT TO ME LEFT AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A U TURN, BY THE TIME I GOT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY WERE CLOSED. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THE NEXT MORNING THEY WERE ABLE TO RETRIEVE TO CODE AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. IN AUGUST OF 18 ONE DAY LEAVING THE GAS STATION WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE ALL IT DID WAS REV THE ENGINE ANOTHER TIME WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING PLACE AND TRIED TO DRIVE AWAY IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER. LATELY I HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE THE ENGINE WILL REV UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT USUALLY IS ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE RPM'S WOULD DOUBLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ON 12/7/18 THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, HOWEVER I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OF THE ACCELERATOR IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINE TO STOP THE REVVING. THE REVVING OF THE ENGINE IS NOT ON SPECIFIC DATES, HOWEVER HAPPENS ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK USUALLY ON THE HIGHWAY.
OUR WELL MAINTAINED 4 YEAR OLD FUSION WITH 1.6L ECOBOOST, STARTED MAKING NOISE, ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET, SMOKE CAME POURING OUT. FORD DETERMINED CRACK IN ENGINE BY CYLINDER HEAD TO BE THE CAUSE. FORD INFORMED US OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL, AND OVER WARRANTY MILES (80K). STARTER MOTOR WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF COMPLETELY WHILE IN MOTION. AT THE SAME TIME STARTER MOTOR WAS REPLACED, 2 IGNITION COILS WERE IDENTIFIED AS FAILED OR FAILING. IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS A TOTAL OF 4 IGNITION COILS HAVE FAILED. FORD HAS NOT IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, MERELY REPLACED BROKEN PARTS. THEY HAVE NOT ADDRESSED IN ANY WAY THE DANGEROUS CONDITION POSED BY MY CAR'S STALLING ON AN ACTIVE ROADWAY.

HOWEVER, DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE IDLED AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND AN OVERHEATING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WARNED THE CONTACT TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ONCE AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A CHAFED WIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE BOUGHT A 2014 FOCUS ON MARCH 27, 2015 AND DROVE THE FOCUS WITHOUT PROBLEMS UNTIL JANUARY 2016. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2016, THE ENGINE OIL WARNING WAS FLASHING. ALMOST ALL THE OIL WAS DEPLETED. IT HAD BEEN LESS THAN 5,000 MILES SINCE THE LAST OIL CHANGE, SO IT WAS STRANGE. WE TOOK OUR CAR INTO KAYSER FORD THE NEXT DAY. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT NOT ENOUGH OIL WAS FILLED PREVIOUSLY. THEY THEN FILLED OIL TO THE MAX LEVEL. ON MARCH 10, WE CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AFTER 500 MILES SINCE THE LAST CHANGE. THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. WE WENT BACK TO KAYSER, AND THEY FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL VARIED. THEY SUSPECTED AN OIL BURNING PROBLEM. WE THEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ENGINE SPECIALIST AND HAD 2 QUARTS OF OIL PUT IN. ON MARCH 15, WE VISITED KAYSER AGAIN AND HAD THE ENGINE SPECIALIST CHECK IT. THEY AGAIN FELT THAT NOT ENOUGH OIL WAS FILLED THE LAST TIME, AND WE SHOULD BRING IT BACK AFTER ANOTHER 500 MILES. THE LAST FULL OIL CHANGE WAS DONE BY KAYSER ON FEBRUARY 23. WE MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT ON MARCH 24, AND WE THEN WENT ON A 400 MILE TRIP. AFTER WE ARRIVED AND CHECKED THE OIL ON MARCH 20, THE OIL WAS MUCH LOWER THAN THE MINIMUM LEVEL. SINCE IT WAS SUNDAY AND WE DID NOT WANT TO RISK AN ACCIDENT, WE ADDED FORD MOTORCRAFT 5W20 OIL. ON MARCH 24, WE WENT BACK TO KAYSER AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT WE HAD TO COME BACK AGAIN LATER BECAUSE WE ADDED OIL SINCE THE LAST SERVICE. WE SHOWED EVIDENCE THROUGH PHOTOS, BUT HE REFUSED TO DO A DETAILED DIAGNOSIS. HE SAID THAT THEY HAD TO REPORT THE EXACT AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION LOST IN ORDER TO DO MORE. WE HAD TO VISIT FAMILY LIVING ABOUT 170 MILES AWAY, BUT WE DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THAT FAR. WE ASKED KAYSER FORD TO PROVIDE US A RENTAL CAR, BUT THEY WOULDN'T. WE MADE IT TO OUR DESTINATION, BUT WE HAD A LOW AMOUNT OF OIL THE NEXT DAY. WE THEN TOOK IT TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A FILL UP.

I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TIME TO "GET USED" TO ME AS A DRIVER, AND THAT THIS IS A DOUBLE CLUTCH SYSTEM, BY THE FORD DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. HE SAID IF IT CONTINUED, THEN BY ALL MEANS, SCHEDULE IT FOR REPAIR. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN, JUMP/JERK AT SLOW ACCELERATION. I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON 12/12/14. I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT ON 1/27/2015, THAT IS THE EARLIEST DATE THEY WOULD GIVE ME AFTER THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A SPECIAL REPAIR AND THEY ONLY TAKE IN SO MANY FORD FOCUS CARS AT A TIME. THEY ALMOST TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF SCHEDULING THE APPOINTMENT, THE CLERK SAID THERE WERE NO AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS AND THEY WOULDN'T BE SCHEDULING ANY MORE FOR AT LEAST IN TO FEBRUARY. CAR SHUDDERS ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AND JERKS AND LUNGES UPON ACCELERATION FROM A SLOWDOWN. TRANSMISSION SLIPS GEARS AND ALSO HITS A DEAD SPOT CAUSING A LACK OF ACCELERATION AROUND GEAR 2-3. RPM'S REV UP WITH NO ACCELERATION AND THEN DROPS QUICKLY WITH A HESITATION BEFORE A REDUCTION OF SPEED. CAR CAN LUNGE WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR WHEN YOU DON'T WANT IT TO GO THAT HARD AND THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY MERGES WHEN YOU NEED THE CAR TO GO AND IT WON'T DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION BOTTOMING OUT. PROBLEMS GET WORSE THE LONGER AND FARTHER YOU DRIVE THE CAR. HAD AT THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW, REPROGRAMMED CLUTCH LAST TIME BUT SAY THE ISSUES FOUND ARE "NORMAL" AND THAT FORD MADE THE TRANSMISSION TO DO JUST AS THE PROBLEMS STATE TO MAKE THE CAR FEEL MORE LIKE A MANUAL THAN AN AUTOMATIC. IT STARTED UP AROUND 1500 MILES. THE CAR WOULD MAKE A SOUND AS IF I WAS DRAGGING PLASTIC UNDER IT WHEN I COME TO A STOP OR REVERSE. WHEN I GET ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR WOULD REV TO HIGH RPMS THEN IT WOULD SLIP LIKE AS IF IT MISSED A SHIFT. I HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE I COME TO A STOP AND THE CAR CATCHES UP WITH ITSELF AND LURCHES FORWARD WHERE I HAVE TO SLAM MY BREAKS. WHEN COMING OFF A STOP I REALLY HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT TO THE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR UP TO 25MPH. SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF POWER. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO FORD ALREADY, THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 3 DAYS. IT WAS DONE THE SAME DAY. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO RE-PROGRAM THE SYSTEM. AFTER THEY DID THIS IT SEEMED TO ACCEL AND BRAKE A LOT BETTER. IT DID NOT FIX MY GRINDING/RATTLING SOUND IN THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION LIKE I HAD TOLD THEM IT HAD. I TOLD THEM IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHUTTER OR CLUTCH ISSUE. I PURCHASED MY FIRST BRAND NEW 2014 FORD FOCUS ABOUT THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2013. ON JUNE 23, 2014 WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SUBJECT VEHICLE 'STALLED' WITHOUT WARNING. DESPITE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE. THE SUBJECT VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY. *TR
MY FORD FOCUS ST IS STALLING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I PUSH THE CLUTCH IN COMPLETELY OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, IT WILL NOT IDLE AT TIMES OR IT HAS AN ERRATIC IDLE SWINGING FROM 400-800 RPMS WILDLY. THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT BUT SEEMS WORSE WHEN IT IS HOT, HUMID, OR RAINING. THE CAR MAY GO 200 MILES BETWEEN STALLING EVENTS. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I HAVE RECORDED VIDEOS OF THIS HAPPENING BUT FORD WILL NOT TAKE ANY ACTION. I SAID I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE CONDITION BUT THAT THIS CAR STALLED OUT. I SAID THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS ON A DARK ROAD. I HAD TWO INCIDENTS THAT NIGHT WITH LARGE SEMI?S COMING AT ME STALLED AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. SHE SAID SHE WOULD WRITE UP THIS CONCERN IN COMMENTS TO AVIS. IN MY VIEW, A CAR THAT CAN STALL OUT IS SIMILAR TO THE GM CARS THAT STOPPED WITH A DEFECTIVE KEY. THIRTEEN PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THOSE GM STALL OUTS.
