The contact stated that after taking ownership of the vehicle, the rearview camera failed to display an image in the rear of the vehicle. The camera displayed a black screen in cold and snowy weather. The contact stated that the carpet near the wheel wells would collect snow causing ice to form around the tires, causing damages to the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) was related to the present failure; however, the vehicle could not be repaired free of charge. The dealer had placed washers near the wheels to prevent snow from accumulating by holding down the carpet. The vehicle was sprayed with a liquid to prevent further damage to the wheel wells as well as another liquid on the back over the camera to ensure that the rear of the vehicle would be properly displayed. The contact stated that the repairs only prevented the failure from occurring temporarily. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 86,000.

The contact stated while her husband was driving 65-70 MPH with her and her 21-month-old son in the rear seats, she heard abnormal exploding sounds and noticed that the sunroof glass panel had exploded into several pieces. There were no injuries sustained. The contact stated that the shade guard was closed at the time of the failure occurred. The contact's husband veered to the side of the road, where he removed and discarded the sunroof glass panel broken pieces. The contact stated that duct tape was applied to the sunroof several times while driving to the destination. Two unknown dealers were notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle needed to remain with the dealer for diagnostic tests and repairs. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SCREEN FAILED TO DISPLAY AN IMAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SCREEN IMAGE WAS DISTORTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V575000 (VISIBILITY) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED JARRETT FORD OF CHARLOTTE COUNTY (3156 TAMIAMI TRAIL, PORT CHARLOTTE, FL 33952) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
ON JULY 4,2020 AT APPROX 10:15AM I WAS DRIVING ON PA 663 HIGHWAY. OUT OF NO WHERE, I HEAR THIS LOUD BOOM. CAR IN FRONT OF ME KEPT GOING, CAR IN BACK OF ME GETTING CLOSER AS I SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY. CAR BEHIND ME KEPT GOING. I GET OUT OF CAR AND FIND MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED. I HAD THE COVER CLOSED SO GLASS WAS CAUGHT INSIDE COVER. I LOOK INSIDE COVER AND FIND NOTHING BUT SHATTERED GLASS. I CALL FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. WHILE I WAIT FOR DRIVER, I TAKE PICTURES. DRIVER ARRIVES AND TOWS CAR TO NEAREST FORD DEALER WHICH IS 100 MILES FROM MY HOME. ON MONDAY, 7/6/20, I CALL DEALER SINCE I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR 26 DAYS. BRAND NEW, LEASED WITH 907 MILES. DEALER TELLS ME IT'S NOT UNDER THEIR WARRANTY. I'M TOLD SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT THE ROOF BUT NO SIGN OR EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING. I CALL FORD CORPORATE AND THEY TELL ME THE SAME THING. SINCE I NEED A CAR, I FILE CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE TO HAVE IT FIXED HAVING TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE AND THE COST OF A RENTAL.
