Rear center seatbelt retractor failed under normal use. The belt locks immediately and cannot be extended, making the rear center seat unusable. There is no accident or collision history. The issue developed over time and is now constant. This is a safety issue because a passenger cannot be properly restrained in that seating position, reducing available seating capacity.

The drivers seat belt retractor has failed. The car is a low mile 2020 Ford Edge. I see that Ford has a recall on the 2021 for the same problem. I replaced the very expensive part that should have not failed this early. Anything i can do?

Passenger seat harness locks up with no sudden breaking or any collision. Have to unbuckle, let it retract, then pull back over passenger. Bought used with approximately 14,000 miles on it. If there should be an accident, passenger may be pinned.

Faulty drivers seatbelt. The seat belt will either have a tremendous amount of slack to where it provides no restraint. This is concerning in the chance that an accident occurs; the chest strap hangs onto my lap. OR it will do the exact opposite and not give enough slack to buckle and gets stuck in the retracted position. When this happens I cant even put on my seat belt, giving me no choice but to ride around unsafe. My fear is getting into an accident and not having this critical piece of equipment protect me. There is also the concern of being pulled over and ticketed for not wearing my seat belt. Given that this is the drivers seatbelt malfunctioning, it’s unavoidable, It’s not like I can sit somewhere else to buckle up properly; especially if I am out already and just trying to head home when this occurs. I have spoken with Ford Motor Company twice about this (7/11/23 and (6/12/24) and opened up two different claims, but because this does not fall under my warranty it’s not covered? I stressed that this is a SAFETY concern not wear and tear. Neither time that I called was this issue properly handled. Does it take a major accident, injury and lawsuit for them to take a customer seriously when they are reporting safety restraint malfunctioning? They were unwilling to help solve this issue, and this raises serious concerns for me as well as anyone else who owns this model (or a ford in general). This should at least be a safety recall. Instead they are charging the owner to replace their faulty safety harness.

Driver seat belt locks in retracted position and unable to fasten. This occurs often a heat soak on hot days. Forces operation of vehicle without use of seat belt to get home from work. after vehicle cools overnight the seatbelt unlocks for the next day, but has reoccurred 3 times in a week. No warning lights except for fasten seat belt warnings. The obvious risk is to the driver not being able to wear a seatbelt. Took the vehicle to dealer today 4/17 as it is a safety item, but was told that unless they find something nothing will be done.

3 children were in the back of the car. Child sat in the middle put seatbelt in the incorrect lock mechanisms. The seatbelt would not disconnect and it jammed. The seatbelt locked so my daughter could not loosen the seatbelt to climb out and started to panic so we had to cut it to get her out. This was a major safety concern. If this had happened in an accident my daughter would have been stuck. Why do the rear seat belts allow a person to clip in, if it won’t allow you to clip out. This is a huge concern

BUCKLED THE CENTER REAR BELT INTO THE RECEIVER BUCKLE OF THE RIGHT SIDE IT WOULD NOT UNBUCKLE . THE MALE BUCKLES ARE THE SAME ON THE LEFT AND CENTER THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IS DIFFERENT. THE RIGHT MALE BUCKLE WILL NOT FIT THE CENTER FEMALE RECEIVER BUT THE CENTER MALE BUCKLE WILL GO IN THE RIGHT FEMALE RECEIVER, BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RELEASE IT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE PERSON (SCARED, SCREAMING,CHILD) OUT WAS TO CUT THE BELT. THIS WOULD BE VERY UNSAFE IN THE CASE OF A CRASH.
