1- My steering started making a noise when I would make a right turn. I took it to the dealer service and they informed me that the metal battery holder completely rusted away and the battery dropped down onto the inner wheel well and when I made a turn it would hit the tire and steering arm. When this started I had not driven the car after that because I felt unsafe. So I called Chrysler Customer Service and ask them to refund my money for the repair ($700+} since I Told them of possibly be injured or killed if the steering locked up while driving. They gave me a case number and said they would review it. They denied the request and blew me off with " it's out of warranty". I said I knew that and you were not concerned with my family's safety. So I need your help to recalling all Journeys which could happen to them. 2- The lugs nuts on dodges are covered in a casing and after a few years they separate from the nut. This is a big problem because the lug wrench not longer fits and I had to buy a MM deep socket to fit that nut when I would have fix a flat tire. You should review that too.

DEALERSHIP COULDN'T RECREATE ISSUE AND WOULDN'T FIX PROBLEM. NOW 2021, CAR GIVES BAD KEY ERROR AND WON'T RECOGNIZE ANY KEYS OR START UP WITH REMOTE START. WIN MODULE WAS REPLACED AND TWO DAYS LATER, SAME ISSUE.

IN CHECKING ONLINE I FIND THAT I AM ONE OF HUNDREDS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT.I BELIEVE CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED THESE CARS FOR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES. I AM LOOKING FOR HELP WITH THE NEXT STEP. MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY HAS BEEN HAVING A NO START ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS. AT FIRST IT WAS JUST WHEN IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE OR THE CAR WAS HOT AFTER DRIVING AN HOUR OR MORE, NOW IT HAPPENS AT ANY GIVEN TIME, EVEN FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. I CAN USUALLY GET IT STARTED AFTER 5-10 TRIES, BUT NEVER ON THE FIRST TRY. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2019 WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE 5TH TIME THIS YEAR FOR THIS PROBLEM.

WHEN TRYING TO START, YOU HEAR A SINGLE CLICK EACH TIME YOU TRY. WE TRIED TO JUMPSTART IT; THERE WERE NO CHANGES. IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD THE DEALER TOW IT. THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THEY ENDED UP GETTING IT TO START WITH NO ANSWERS FOR ME. THEY JUST SAID THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH IT OR WHY IT ACTED THE WAY IT DID. I DID SOME RESEARCH. ITS COMMON IN DODGE JOURNEYS; THEREFORE DODGE SHOULD ADRESS THE ISSUE.

MY CAR HAS BEEN TOWED APPROXIMATELY 9 TIMES SINCE SEPTEMBER INCLUDING 2 TIMES TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM IN OCTOBER. INITIALLY THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED A DEAD CELL IN THE BATTERY. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $232.00 FOR A NEW BATTERY AND 2 1/2 WEEKS LATER I WAS STRANDED AGAIN DUE TO MY CAR NOT STARTING IN NOVEMBER, SINCE THEN I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM 8 TIMES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE MY HOME. ALL OF MY MAJOR PARTS ARE OPERATING CORRECTLY AND NOTHING IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. CAN CHRYSLER PLEASE ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM? SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018 CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD GONE TO THE DOCTOR AND PARKED IN THE LOT, WHEN I CAME OUT MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND I WAS STRANDED IN THE PARKING LOT UNTIL DARK AFTER THE CLINIC HAD CLOSED. TRIED STARTING IT MULTIPLE TIMES AND ONLY GOT A ʻCLICKʻ THEN NOTHING. HAD TO GET TOWED HOME. IʻM A 59 Y/O FEMALE WITH HEALTH ISSUES. BATTERY WAS NEW SO I HAD THE STARTER REPLACED THINKING MAYBE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. MY CAR STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WOULD RANDOMLY START. SO ONCE I COULD GET IT STARTED, I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE COULD NOT ISOLATE THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH IT WOULD STILL RANDOMLY START AND RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I DID AND THE DEALER SAID EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE BUT RECOMMENDED THAT I HAVE THE STARTER REPLACED AS WELL AS THE EGR SYSTEM AND HE QUOTED ME OVER $1200. I CANʻT AFFORD THAT. I HAD ALREADY PAID TO HAVE MY BATTERY TESTED AT SEARS WHERE I BOUGHT MY DIEHARD AND HAD BOUGHT A NEW STARTER THAT MY BROTHER INSTALLED. INSTEAD, I TOOK IT BACK TO MY MECHANIC WHO REPLACED IT WITH ANOTHER STARTED AND EGR SYSTEM FOR $300 LESS. IT ONLY WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS. I ONLY GET A CLICK THEN NOTHING. TODAY, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I TRAVEL 30 MILES EACH WAY TO GET TO WORK AND THIS IS FRUSTRATING. I TRIED THE ʻBRAKE, ON, NEUTRALʻ AND IT DIDNʻT WORK. I FINALLY GOT IT TO START THIS MORNING WHEN I DID THE ʻBRAKE, ON, MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT SIDE TO SIDE IN THE PARK POSITIONʻ BUT WHEN I GOT OFF WORK THIS AFTERNOON, THAT DIDNʻT WORK. INSTEAD, I DID THE ʻBRAKE, ON, NEUTRAL, PARKʻ AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I DONʻT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK TOMORROW THOUGH. I HAD TO GET A NEW BATTERY/NEW BRAKES FRONT/BACK/ROTORS/BALL JOINT/ NUT/SNAP RING/THEN CAR JUST QUIT ON ME WHILE DRIVING, FREAKED ME OUT, THEN I HAD TO HAVE THE STARTER REPLACED, ON 8/26/2018, NOW CAR WENT BACK IN SHOP ON 9/12/2018 BC THE TRANSMISSION STALLED ON ME & I ALMOST GOT REARED END, THE METER MACHINE SAYS IT NEEDS THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE RESET, WRONG, THE PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION & BEEN HEARING ALL KINDS OF NASTY THINGS TO DO WITH THE CHYRSLER DODGE IGNITION/ TRANSMISSION / STARTER, THIS CAR HAS COST ME SO MUCH MONEY THAT I WAS LIED TOO.. SAFETY ISSUE IS TRANSMISSION I WAS TOLD BY 2 MECHANICS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BC THE GEAR BROKE, NOTHING I DID, TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT OR NEW ONE PUT IN, I PAID $4,263 PLUS NOW FOR EVERYTHING ELSE I WAS NOT PLANNING ON DOING.. (KEY FOB WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED SEVERAL YEARS AGO). CAN'T GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR A WEEK SO HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.

UPON FULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN AND APPLYING THE BRAKE, MY CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT A DRIVE A BLOCK OR TWO BEFORE IT DID THE SAME THING. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND AFTER LOOKING FOR A PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL DAYS THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND IT STARTED AND DROVE FINE. SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 6 MONTHS (JAN-JUNE 2018) I HAVE TRIED TO START MY CAR AND IT WILL NOT START. SOMETIMES MOMENTS LATER IT WILL START, SOMETIMES HOURS LATER IT WILL START. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE PROBLEMS, I FOUND MANY WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUES (CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, AND CAR NOT STARTING). IT SEEMS THERE WAS A RECALL TO FIX THESE VERY PROBLEMS. THE RECALL WAS REGARDING THE IGNITION MODULE. I RECENTLY PURCHASED MY CAR FROM ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL AND I DO NOT KNOW IF THE RECALL WAS ADDRESS INITIALLY. HOW CAN I FIND OUT. IF MY CAR WAS NOT FIXED, HOW CAN I GET THE RECALL FIXED NOW? IF IT WAS FIXED, THEN THE VEHICLE IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE "RECALL FIX" DID NOT ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN CAUTIOUS DRIVING IT AS I DO NOT WANT THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING, AGAIN NOR DO I WANT TO BE STRANDED AGAIN BECAUSE IT WON'T START.

MY RADIO, LIGHTS AND WINDOWS ALL WORK WHEN KEY IS IN THE ON POSITION. CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR NEARLY 40 MINUTES AND STILL NO START ONLY A CLICK. I NOW HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK MY DOORS FROM THE INSIDE AND LEAN MY SEAT BACK AND CRAWL TO THE BACK TO UNLOCK MY BACK DOORS. I USE THE MANUAL DOOR KEY TO GET IN MY CAR NOW. ALL ELECTRICAL BUTTONS ON MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT WORK. I CAN NOT CONTROL MY LOCKS, WINDOWS OR SIDE MIRRORS. ON TOP OF THAT MY CAR WILL NOT START ALL THE TIME ONLY WHEN IT CHOOSES TO. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. ALSO HAD KEY FOBS REPLACED LAST YEAR. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP WITH THESE ISSUES. THIS IS 1300.00 TO REPLACE THE CORE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY DODGE AT NO COST TO ME. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PUT OUT THAT KIND OF MONEY EVERY YEAR. THIS NEEDS LOOKED INTO. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD SOME HEAT BUT NOW HAS NONE. I ALWAYS SEEMS TO BREAKDOWN WHEN IT IS COMING INTO THE COLD SEASON. IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR DODGE'S DESIGN FLAW. ALSO, THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE ANOTHER ONGOING ISSUE, THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES AT MY COST. THIS IS ANOTHER ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY MAY BE GOING BAD THOUGH IT HELD A CHARGE. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED THAT SAME DAY WHICH WAS 5 DAYS AGO FOR $225.00. TODAY THE CAR DID THE SAME THING, IT WOULD CLICK BUT NOT TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 15 MINUTES WHILE I WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL. A BYSTANDER SAID SHE THINKS IT WAS THE BATTERY BASED ON THE SOUND WHICH I KNOW IT COULD NOT BE AS THE BATTERY WAS JUST REPLACED. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS 94 DEGREES. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS IN DIFFERENT FORUMS FROM CONSUMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL. ONE COMMENTER STATED THAT IF YOU PRESS THE BRAKE THEN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL THE CAR SHOULD START AND IT WOULD INDICATE THAT THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH WAS THE ISSUE. I FOLLOWED THE SUGGESTION AND THE CAR STARTED. AS I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH SEVERAL DIFFERENT ONLINE FORUMS I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL HOWEVER I DO NOT SEE A RECALL ISSUED.

WE TOOK IT TO A 3RD SHOP AND THEY TRIED SEVERAL FIXES TO NO AVAIL. THEY THINK IT MIGHT BE A TORQUE CONVERTER NOW. IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM WE'LL HAVE SPENT OVER $2000 REPAIRING THE CAR AND NOT BEING DRIVABLE FOR A MONTH. IF IT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM THEN I HAVE AN ISSUE EVEN MANUFACTURER TRAINED MECHANICS CAN'T FIGURE OUT.

PAID TO HAVE ANOTHER HEATER COIL INSTALLED. SAID IT WAS WARRANTED FOR 2 YEARS. SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED LAST WEEK. WENT AND TALKED TO DEALER ABOUT WARRANTY FOR THIS ONE. THEY SAID NO, THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 15 DAYS. TOLD ME TO CALL DODGE GOOD WILL DEPARTMENT. THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED FIRST. THAT COST WAS ABOUT $80.00 AND NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED EVEN THOUGH IT'S AN ON GOING PROBLEM. AN EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACE A LOT OF THESE HEATER COILS. OBVIOUSLY THERE'S A PROBLEM. CHECKED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THERE'S A LOT OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I'M HAVING, HOT AIR ON DRIVERS SIDE COLD AIR ON PASSENGERS SIDE UNTIL IT TOTALLY GOES UP. SEVERAL MECHANICS ON THE INTERNET STATED THAT IT'S A FLAW IN ITS DESIGN. 2 MAIN PROBLEMS, FIRST SEEMS SPLIT SECOND IT PLUGS WITH SEDIMENT VERY EASILY. OBVIOUSLY VERY LITTLE HEAT WHEN CAR IS RUNNING.

I SHOWED THEM THE SAFETY NOTICE PRIOR TO THE WORK BEING DONE AND THEY INFORMED ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A KEY SHANK. I DISPUTED WITH THEM THAT THE NOTICE SAYS PARTS AND LABOR WERE FREE OF CHARGE. I STILL HAD TO PAY $37.31 FOR THE KEY SHANK THEY GAVE ME SOME TYPE OF EXPLANATION BUT I AM STILL NOT HAPPY THAT I HAD TO PAY ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY BECAUSE THE NOTICE CLEARLY SAYS PARTS AND LABOR FREE OF CHARGE. ON MARCH 6TH I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THE WINGATE L25 WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, BUT THEY NEVER MENTIONED WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL CAUSE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I GOT THE RUN AROUND FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND IN THE END CHRYSLER'S LEGAL DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THE FINDINGS WERE UNKNOWN AND THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MY VEHICLE WAS BURNT UP BY THE TIME IT COMPLETED IT'S COURSE...IT WAS SO BAD TO THE POINT YOU COULD BARELY RECOGNIZE MY CHILD'S CAR SEAT. I DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR AND THIS HAPPENED. ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 22ND, I WAS STRANDED AT THE GROCERY STORE BECAUSE MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WOULD NOT START. I REPIDETLY TRIED TO START THE CAR AND I GOT A "BAD KEY" MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD. THINKING IT WAS THE KEY, I TRIED MY SPARE KEY THAT I KEEP IN MY BAG BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. NOTHING LIT UP AND THERE WAS NO NOISE WHAT SO EVER FROM THE ENGINE. AS A MOM WITH FOUR YOUNG KIDS, THIS IS ONE OF MY WORST NIGHTMARES. NOT ONLY WERE WE STRANDED AT THE GROCERY STORE, WE WERE LATE FOR SCHOOL. WE WAITED FOR AN HOUR FOR SOMEONE TO PICK US UP AND THEN HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR DEALER HAS NO LONER VEHICLES WE COULD HAVE USED.ON LAST THURSDAY AFTERNOON, I GOT A CALL FROM THE BROWN DODGE SERVICE WHO TOLD ME THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND I HAD TO GET TWO NEW KEYS AS IT ALL COMES TOGETHER AS ONE PACKAGE AND I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $700. . THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER AND I HAD TO PAY FOR YET ANOTHER TOW TRUCK. SAME SYMPTOM'S, THE CAR WOULD NOT START WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE BROWN DODGE DEALER THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A BAD BATTERY. SO I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT LUCKILY THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED AFTER I HAD TO TRY TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON ABOUT FIFTEEN TIMES, AND I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. ONCE THERE, I KEPT IT THERE FOR 4 DAYS SO THEY COULD SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. EVERY TIME THEY TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE CAR STARTED FOR THEM. SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. WELL, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY WEEK FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS. THIS PAST WEEK I WAS STUCK WITH MY CHILDREN AT THE BANK FOR 30 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR WOULD START.
