NHTSA Campaign: 22V617000
Component: SEAT BELTS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
General Motors, LLC (M) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with third-row seats. The rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seat belt buckle assembly may have been improperly formed.
Risk: A seat belt with a deformed rivet may not properly restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the rivet head formation on both the left and right side third-row seat belt buckle assemblies and replace seat belt buckle assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 28, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 1, 2022. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020; Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006; and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222372380.
NHTSA Campaign: 22V903000
Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 156)
Engine →4 issues
Your engine suddenly shut down without warning while driving on the highway, forcing you to coast to the shoulder through a construction zone. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a seized engine, even though the vehicle had passed Chevrolet's diagnostic test for the 6.2L engine recall about 7,000 miles earlier and was properly maintained. Repairing a seized engine typically requires complete engine replacement or a full engine rebuild.

After your Tahoe was serviced for an engine recall and the dealership switched to higher viscosity oil, your engine subsequently failed. The dealership is disputing whether the oil change is connected to the engine failure. Resolving this will likely require diagnostic testing to determine the cause of the engine failure and whether the thicker oil contributed to the problem.

Your Tahoe suddenly died while driving on a busy bridge during rush hour traffic in Moore, Oklahoma, leaving you stranded and resulting in a traffic ticket. The vehicle had to be towed and remains in the shop with no clear repair timeline. You're requesting that GM arrange a rental car of equal value to your Tahoe through Hertz, given incoming bad weather.

While driving at highway speed, your check engine light came on with a message about reduced acceleration and safe driving mode, and your vehicle slowed down to 45 MPH and wouldn't speed back up properly. Your brake lights also stopped working, the engine fan was running very loudly, and you noticed a burning smell after turning off the engine. A diagnostic scan found a trouble code related to the coolant control valve assembly. After the code was cleared at an auto parts store, the check engine light remained on even after restarting. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and repairing or replacing the coolant control valve assembly and addressing any related engine or electrical issues.

Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your car has shut down twice while you were hard braking on the freeway approaching stopped traffic, leaving you stranded in active travel lanes. The dealer hasn't been able to identify the cause. The engine restarted after you shifted to Park and cranked it again, but this is a serious safety issue since you're vulnerable to being rear-ended when the car dies unexpectedly.

Your OnStar system stopped working after just 5 months of ownership. The dealership ordered a replacement under warranty but never called you when it arrived, and your warranty expired while you waited. Now the dealership is asking you to pay $1,000 for a replacement that should have been covered, leaving you without emergency communication features during long commutes on remote highways. The fix will involve installing a new OnStar module and reactivating the service on your vehicle.

Power Train,engine,fuel/propulsion System →2 issues
Your 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe is burning through oil too quickly, which is causing smoke from the exhaust and repeated check engine lights with catalyst-efficiency fault codes. The catalytic converter has failed multiple times (at least twice between 121,000 and 141,000 miles), and you've also needed major fuel injector repairs. Your Chevrolet dealer acknowledged in writing that excess oil consumption can cause repeated catalytic converter failures and sensor problems. Addressing this will likely require diagnosing why your engine is consuming oil excessively, then replacing the catalytic converter and possibly fuel injectors again.

Electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your Tahoe has unexpectedly shifted itself into neutral and shut off while you're driving — this happened twice in three days without any warning lights or messages appearing. The first time you were pulling into your driveway and could safely restart it, but the second time it happened in traffic in Tampa, forcing you to brake and restart while other vehicles were nearby. This issue could be caused by a transmission control module malfunction, engine control unit problem, or electrical fault, and your dealership should diagnose the root cause immediately since the vehicle is less than 30 days old.

Power Train,electrical System,air Bags →1 issue
Your 2022 Tahoe has been experiencing a flashing airbag light and self-restraint system warnings that the dealer won't cover under warranty. In December 2025, your vehicle lost all electrical power while driving, leaving you unable to start it, open windows, or shift gears—trapping you in traffic near railroad tracks. After a battery replacement got the vehicle running again, you've noticed the transmission shifting harder and jerking, and you've experienced at least three separate incidents of sudden power loss while driving. The underlying electrical or powertrain issue may need diagnostic testing to identify whether it's related to the battery, electrical system, transmission control module, or another component.

Electrical System,service Brakes,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your 2022 Tahoe is experiencing recurring electrical and brake system failures, including warning messages for "Service ESC," "Forward Collision System Unavailable," and "Brake System Failure" that limit your top speed to 62 mph. You've brought the vehicle to the dealership four times for these same issues, but they keep returning after software updates and recalibrations rather than permanent repairs. The braking system has failed twice while driving with passengers, creating a serious safety risk.

Power Train,service Brakes →1 issue
While driving on the highway at 65 mph with cruise control on, your truck's brakes suddenly locked up (or the transmission shifted into park) and wouldn't release, causing the vehicle to swerve as it came to a stop. This happened twice, and both times occurred while cruise control was active. The dealership was unable to reproduce the problem during inspection.

Engine,fuel/propulsion System,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your check engine light came on and the car displayed warnings about the collision avoidance system and ESC (stability control) needing service. The vehicle then began shutting down with a "proceed with caution" message, reduced acceleration, and disabled safety features. You noticed a strong gas smell and the fuel gauge dropping rapidly, indicating a serious fuel system problem. After multiple shop visits where technicians found "nothing wrong," a part costing over $1,000 was eventually replaced, but you believe the engine was damaged by the underlying issue. The fix will likely require fuel system component replacement and possibly engine diagnostics to assess any damage.

Engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
While driving your Tahoe at 50-60 MPH, multiple warning lights came on and the vehicle wouldn't restart. The dealer found that engine valves had collapsed and the camshaft may be damaged. The dealer believes this issue warrants a recall and recommended further diagnostics, but your vehicle hasn't been repaired yet.

Visibility →1 issue
Your driver's side rearview mirror moves up or down on its own when you start the vehicle, making it hard to see the road while driving. The mirror doesn't stay in the position you set it to. The issue started at around 33,000 miles and hasn't been diagnosed or fixed yet. You'll likely need to have the mirror's motor or control mechanism inspected and repaired.

Electrical System, seats, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your vehicle is showing a "service driver assistance system" warning light, and the seat vibration feature that alerts you to potential collisions isn't working. You may not receive the warning vibrations you'd expect if the system detects an obstacle ahead, which could be a safety concern. The dealership believes this is a sensor or wiring harness issue similar to problems addressed in previous recalls, but replacement parts are currently hard to find, so repairs may take longer than usual.

Seats →1 issue
When you fold your second-row captain seats back into the cargo position and then try to put them back up for seating, the headrest may not lock properly into the upright position. This could cause the headrest to poke whoever sits in the seat in the back of the head, creating a safety concern. The dealer diagnosed the issue but hasn't identified the specific part that needs replacement yet. Fixing this will likely require replacing the headrest locking mechanism or related seat hardware.

Power Train →1 issue
Your transmission suddenly went into limp mode with hard, jerky shifts and lost reverse capability without any warning lights. The service center found transmission fault codes and determined the valve body needs to be replaced. Fixing this will likely require replacing the transmission valve body assembly.

Electrical System →1 issue
Your 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe's battery is draining unexpectedly, leaving you stranded with a no-start condition about once per week—sometimes after just 6 hours of parking. The problem has been traced to a faulty hands-free liftgate module that's drawing power even when the vehicle is off, and removing its fuse stopped the issue entirely. This defect matches a known GM technical service bulletin and has left your family stranded multiple times, damaged your battery, and created safety concerns, especially in winter conditions. The fix will likely require Chevrolet to replace or reprogram the liftgate module to stop the parasitic power drain.
