VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
THESE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITH THE THROTTLE CABLE CONTACTING THE DASH MAT WHICH COULD BIND THE THROTTLE. THIS DOES NOT MEET WITH THE MAXIMUM RETURN TIMES REQUIRED BY FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 124, "ACCELERATOR CONTROL SYSTEMS."
Fix: DEALERS WILL INSPECT FOR ADEQUATE THROTTLE CABLE TO DASH MAT CLEARANCE, AND IF THERE IS INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE, CUT OUT A PORTION OF THE DASH MAT TO PROVIDE PROPER CLEARANCE.

WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. TO GAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE DRIVER PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, AND APPLIED EXTREME PRESSURE TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL.VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 96V057000 DUE TO VIN. *AK
THE ENGINE BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, IT CONTINUED TO GET FASTER AND FASTER, TECHOMETER RED LINED. HAD TO RAM THE GEAR INTO PARK IN ORDER TO STOP THE CAR.
RECALL 96V05700, MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 96-C-26; VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK AFTER DEALER HAD JUST REPAIRED CAR. JUMP STARTED THE CAR, ENGINE STARTED RACING AS FAST AS IT COULD GO, SPARKS CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, TAPPING ON THE GAS TO GET THE ENGINE TO STOP RACING, PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR KEPT GOING. SLAMMED INTO PARK, DRIVER WAS INJURED IN INCIDENT. OPENED THE HOOD AND WHITE SMOKE APPEARED. DEALER CONTACTED, AND WILL NOT RESPOND TO CALLS. STATED THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. *AK
UPON ACCELERATING IN THE PASSING LANE THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND DID NOT RETURN TO IDLE DUE TO A FRAYED CABLE NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CABLE BALLED UP AND WOULD NOT SLIDE BACK INTO CABLE SLEEVE.
TRUCK WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND KNOCKED INTO ANOTHER CAR, THEN THE TRUCK ACCELERATED WHILE DRIVER HAD FOOT ON BRAKE HITTING SAME VEHICLE AGAIN. THAT VEHICLE WAS PUSHED TO THE SERVICE LANE, AND TRUCK HIT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. THE TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED. *AK
