2019 Chevrolet Silverado Ld 1500 Steering Problems

While driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with the grandkids in the car the electric power steering was lost while driving the vehicle which almost cause an accident. It became extremely hard to turn the wheel lost the power sterering while making a turn almost hit the curb and by an on coming vehicle.

Service Trailer Brake warning flashed then suddenly lost power steering which nearly caused a crash. Vehicle was taken to dealership and a corroded Grounding Strap caused the complete loss of the electrical power steering system.

While pulling into a gas station travelling no more than 10 mph the truck turned hard toward a gas pump island and crashed into the island barrier guard. After shutting down the engine and restarting I pulled the truck out of contact with the barrier. The ESC light is now on. It still drives but pulls hard to the right. I have contacted the local dealer that I will be using for repairs and will deliver it to their shop tomorrow. It has not been inspected yet. After the incident the ESC light was illuminated and still is.

Event in Order: -AutoStart, failure -Started with key -“Action Required” - “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive with Care” -“Service” - “Trailer Brake System” -“dash panel information” not available – Fuel Economy and oil life -“Traction Control light on” -Put truck in reverse, gear not engaged, no response -Put truck in drive, worked, but steering very difficult and made vehicle not safe to drive and/or operate.

On 1/10/20, I was driving home on a major freeway. Just before 5:00 pm I hit traffic and slowed down to roughly 5-10 MPH. At that moment my dashboard lit up and a notification stating, "brake system failure" and "service esc" popped up on my dash.

My truck has an issue when at low speeds 30mph and under all check warning lights will come on my esc (electric steering control) will come on when this happens I loose power steering and when that happens the steering wheel returns to center. This has happened three times since buying the vehicle new I had not had the vehicle for a month when all the issue started to happen.

The brake system went out last month on my vehicle. While driving down a road approximately 35 MPH I went to stop the vehicle and realized my brakes went out. I had to continuously pump the brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me.

Complete loss of power assist steering with multiple safety codes causing loss of vehicle control. Was able to pull over in parking lot to get vehicle off the road. Near impossible to steer when incident happened.

Because of faulty ground strap, lost power steering and several other fault codes. Authorized GM dealer reported ground strap completely broke. My vehicle has a little over 26000 miles on odometer.

In August 2023 I was hearing a popping noise coming from my truck. Took it to Hare dealership for diagnosis and repair. They had my truck until September 8, 2023.

Vehicle steering became intermittently jerky while turning in reverse out of driveway and back up camera guide disappeared. This happenend suddenly every time backing out of driveway for about 4 days. The second episode was while attempting to do a K turn.

Power steering failure while the vehicle is in motion. Power assist goes off and on intermittently, without warning. This causes a very unsafe condition, particularly if you are in a curve or turn.

When started vehicle, ECS warning came on dash, slippery drive icon came on dash & Service Power Steering, Drive With Care came on dash. Was unable to steer vehicle as no power steering. Turned off vehicle, checked fluid levels, everything full & no leaks under vehicle.

While driving home from church the vehicle suddenly lost power steering when making a right hand turn. I had to go into the opposite lane to make the turn. Fortunately there were no other vehicles in the other lane and I was not far from home .

Driving and the steering will jerk and comes up svc esc and service back up camera.Back up camera flashing on display but will not stay on .dealership said it was a battery issue so they changed battery and with in 7 miles from dealership almost hit oncoming car due to steering going out. Happen out of no where so it really hard to drive

Had my truck parked for 5 hours at my grandparents went to leave and had no power steering and the service power steering message came on the dash when I started it in the driveway. I checked the power steering fluid and it was full. So I turned the truck off and let it sit for a few minutes and started it back up again and power steering was still out.

The truck was driven to the store, it was parked for roughly 20 mins. There was no issue with driving to the store. Upon returning to the truck and starting it in the store parking lot the digital display indicated that power steering service was required and esc service was required.

Truck lost power steering and esc after 15k miles. Problem seems intermittent. Vehicle was parked at the time.

After remote start mychev app vehicle stationary four dash messages service esc service trailer brake brake system failure - 62 MPH top speed steering assist reduced drive with care  lights on dash that were illuminated ABS check engine brake traction control tried to drive.

Service ABS, service esc, and "brake failure 62mph speed limited" lights come on and brake pedal goes to the floor with very very limited braking. Recall for brake control module reprogramming was completed on 1/03/20. Drove truck 1.5 limes and lights came back on and brake pedal went to the floor, steering also became stiff.

Truck is 8 months old, less than 10k miles on it. Steering locked up backing out of my driveway. Esc warnings, and various other electrical warnings.

I leased this brand new 2019 chevy silverado 1500 on september 16th, 2019. On november 22, 2019, I lost power steering while backing out of my driveway. I was unable to turn the wheel, and the service esc, trailer brake steering assist reduced message appeared.

Pulling out of a gas station onto a highway my dash display showed "service power steering drive with care" I noticed I had no power assist to my steering and the steering was extremely hard to steer at best. I also received the message "service ecs" at this point I had little control of the direction the vehicle was going and managed to pull over.

Driving on highway leaving Virginia going around 70 all of a sudden truck starts making clicking and clacking sound all warning signals came on dash truck slows down to 20-25 miles pulled off highway checked fluid levels returned back to highway could only drive 45-50 an hour to Augusta Ga upon inspection at dealership was told either the lifters and camshaft were bad no prior problems

Steering wheel power assist became inoperable when turning into a store parking space. If the steering assist had failed while at higher speed and/or in other conditions the results may have resulted in a potentially life threatening situation. There was no prior messages or symptoms the problem prior to the event.

I've had continued issues with components that are electrical . The interior electrical items go wonky, radio touch screen will blink back and forth between two screens for several minutes. Sometimes the sir and radio will just turn on with no key, this is random.

I first noticed jerking in my steering two days later the power assist failed. It was almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Luckily I was just leaving my drive.

There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway.

Parked in parking on an attempt to crank and leave the power steering would not turn the vehicle and a message appeared stating power steering needs immediate attention and the anti skid light appeared as well as abs message. These messages may not be exact but my concern is if I attempt to drive and the power assist goes out and I cannot control my vehicle. I will say that I went back to where the vehicle was left parked attempt to drive after sitting 1-2 hours and the messages were gone and the power steering had returned.

Lost all power steering and brake pedal did not work properly. Could not steer vehicle at all even using both hands on steering wheel. I shut off the truck, turned it back on and "service power steering" light came on the dashboard. Steering did not work at all so I shut it off. Called dealer to report problem and left a message to call me back.( I did not hear back from the dealer.) After a short period of time, I restarted the truck and the service light was still on, but the steering and brakes were working so I drove it home. I took it to the dealership on Sept 5th to explain what happened. They pulled up 8 codes from the truck and made me an appt for sept 8th. They informed me that there was a wire chafing problem with this particular truck, but upon inspection on the 8th, they said they could not find a bad wire. They told me to drive it until it happens again! Not being able to steer or brake are DEFINITELY SAFETY issues !

The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

On the dash display when shutting the vehicle down states "shift to park" and will not power down unless you constatntly move the vehicle backwards and forward multiple times before it powers down. This was replicated at the dealer and the shift assy was replaced under warranty in 1/21 but now 3/22 it is doing the same thing again.

The ball joint for the front left tire broke while driving on a straight road and caused over $2,100 worth of damage to the wheel, axle, brake, etc. I had no warning or anything when this happened. It felt like my tire popped and when I pulled over, the wheel was still attached but was sitting at an awkward angle.

Was Driving the truck when I got a Service Power steering and Service ESC and steering wheel turned hard had no steering assist while driving on the freeway was about to hit a curve when this happened had to stop completely since I couldn’t move the steering wheel!

Additionally, the vehicle occasionally failed to respond when shifted into drive however, the reverse gear worked as designed.

Steering wheel became stuck in a left turn around 70mph, causing the truck to go from the right lane, across the left land and into the median. The dealer is currently investigating the issue. I was given a vehicle that has lane keeping assistance and noticed the steering wheel function with that feature is similar to what I felt in my truck, except, my truck does not have that feature.

2/19/2020, after already having other complaints on here. I was leaving the gym, and as I was pulling out of the parking space I needed to press the brakes, and had to stand on them to get it to stop. Steering was locked up and finally got it stop.

I was in the parking lot at a grocery store in motion pulling out of a parking spot and my brakes and steering got very hard. I had to mash the brake pedal as hard as I could to get the truck to stop. It was hard to steer as well.

I had a recall performed at a dealership and they confirmed the vehicle is running properly. I noticed that the next day my lane keep assist was turned off and not functioning. Later that same day when approaching a stop sign, I noticed that 4 warning messages appeared on my dash.

Weird brake and steering feel while driving. Speed did not exceed 35 MPH in neighborhood driving. Dic read: brake system failure max speed 62 MPH service esc trailer brake system failure.

Started truck and power steering was not working restarted truck several times no change. Drove truck about ten miles to home. Texted dealer to say that I would be dropping the truck for service.

The vehicle was taken to autonation chevrolet airport (located at 5600 lee vista blvd, orlando, fl 32812, (407) 680-1445) where it was currently being diagnosed.

A warning dash board notice 'service steering column lock'appeared the very day we test drove the truck.and has not been abled to be repaired/corrected.gm has my truck for more than 50 days . Gm can't guarantee me that the steering wheel will not lockup while driving down the road.with that statement I consider this a unsafe vehicle to drive.

I went to drive my truck and it would start but I got a “ service power steering no assist “, service rear vision camera, service trailer brake system. Then it wouldn’t start and got the “ lost communication with fuel pump control module, back up camera was flashing in and out and license plate lights would flash with turn signal on.

Getting a Shift to park message on dash screen also getting radio to be unresponsive (like the screen is frozen) also puts a message of no information detected

There’s a plastic clip inside the control lever control that is cheaply made, multiple trucks affected. Have pictures to share

Transmission problems in 8l90. Needs valve body. Torque convert and few others.

Vehicle has 30,000 miles. Started the Vehicle in the morning and for no apparent reason the power steering was out. Error messages on the Dash were Service Power Steering and Service ESC

I received a message to "Service Power Steering" and to "Service ESC". The power steering completely went out and I had to drive without it. Once the vehicle sat for about an hour, I restarted it and the messages cleared.

ABS, esc, trailer braking system continues to fail. I have had it in the shop three times for this defect. The truck has had 5 recalls, one for the seatbelt, four for the brakes.

On 12/26/2019 at 05:40 am, I got in my truck (2019 silverado lt allstar) and started the engine. I immediately received multiple warning messages on my dash panel. They were "service esc", "brake system failure" "steering assist reduced" and to drive no faster than 62 MPH.

Was making a left-hand turn at an intersection I hit a rough patch and truck bounced and pulled a little. When I came to a stop the following lights came on esc light traction control light as well as a steering one.

The vehicle was stationary and had just been started. The following warnings appear on my display, 1) 'action required, steering assist is reduced dive with care'. 2) 'service, trailer brake system' 3) traction control / esc light appears on dash.

I have a brand new silverado with less than 6500 miles and power steering stops working in middle of drive. Alone with brakes failing. This is a major safety issue!

Service steering column warning comes on almost everytime vehicle is started drivers side mirror pops off especilly if closed when washing.
