POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjuster may disengage from the transmission shift lever. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They also fail to conform to FMVSS number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Fix: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any affected transmission shift cable adjusters, free of charge. The recall began on April 10, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020, Buick owners at 1-800-521-7300, and GMC owners at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number associated with this recall is 14048.

You contacted Chevrolet about a related recall, but your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in that recall campaign. The transmission failure occurred at 125,000 miles.

The brakes continue to malfunction I am unsure if a previous recall was fixed properly or not the Chasis electrical system has been fixed with electrical tape only the transmission and stability track and anti lock brake system error light with go off from time to time when it does and the more it’s driven the worse the issues get these are all recalls and the problems still persist are we confident that the recalls have been corrected

Fourth time I had submitted this text so this one will be vague. I've had to Repair my stuts and shocks and brakes to my vehicle due to ongoing issues with tires while divingand hitting small speesbumps and potholes. I did replace low performance tires and still was an issue with my struts and shocks when I drive causing me to hit a bump or a small hole and diverts me to the next lane of ongoing traffic also I had to my battery replaced twice. To find out that it was only due to corrosion and the battery cables slipping was frustrating cause I did replace the battery and key fob battery already. Car wouldn't start and when it did it took forever hours to restart and engine still seems to get bogged down In ongoing traffic. Which was the prior issue no power no matter how hard i press the gas. I took to autozone and they did a reading which came back that everything was okay including the battery which was obviously not okay. It was leaking fluid and i have already replaced year and half ago due to same issue. They cables seem to slip over time on its own. What to do? Thank you for your time to look into this issue. There is a current recall on Chevy impalas with the trans mod control system but my vin number is not apart of the recall but my car is doing everything that recalls states. The recall number is 14V614000. The recall date 10-01-2014. My vehicle is 2014 and I have only had it for 2 years.

I have taken it in on several occasions and been told there is no active code. My transmission control module constantly looses communication. Through my research I have found numerous accounts of this part failing and GM not repairing it, nor issuing a safety recall. I took the vehicle in and was told it was a common failure. The failure of this part has put myself and my children in danger, the computer failure causes the car to randomly shift gears while driving jerk violently and completely shut off at times. Currently it is stuck in 1 gear. I am a single parent, I am scared to travel with my children in the car, anywhere including school and medical appointments. This issue happens while driving the vehicle at all speeds including highway speeds. The last time I took it in the dealer stated, the vehicle was not safe to drive they notified my warranty company, which took 2 weeks to look at the vehicle at which time I was told that the fault code was not active but only in the history of the computer and they refused to repair it. Being that this is a known issue by GM I believe a safety recall should be issue before someone is hurt or killed, if they havent been already. The service advisor informed me that they were instructed to clear the codes from my OBD let the car sit and see if the issue returned. This issue has affected multiple GM vehicles yet they refuse to make the repair necessary to make the vehicle safe. questions; 1)TCM fails, yes it is available for inspection. 2) vehicle randomly shifts through gears including park, at all speeds. causing car to jerk violently, shut off or get stuck in 1 gear. It has shut off while traveling at 75 MPH on the high with my children in the car on multiple occasions. 3)yes at covert chevy in hutto, tx. even the service department was scared to drive it. 4) I dont know what the dealer inspected. 5)yes service stabilitrack and power steering and check engine light with code U0101

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT PROPERLY SHIFT INTO GEAR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE. ADDITIONALLY, A SCREECHING SOUND WAS PRESENT COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER - BILL ESTES CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 4105 W 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46268, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

ALSO, THE PAPER DOESN'T TELL ME I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION FIXED, SO I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE GROUND THAT WAS BAD. BUT I WAS NOT PAYING FOR IT AND IT WAS A RECALL ISSUED IN 2014 THAT IS HAPPENING AND IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OTHERS AS WELL. I CALLED THE GM AND ASKED IF ITS ANYTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT SINCE IT WAS UNDE RECALL THEY ARE SAYING NO. AND THE I HAVE TO GO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT IT IS BECAUSE IT MAY NOT BE SAME AND I DID BEFORE AND CHEVY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THE OTHER SHOPS SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS IN GREAT SHAPE IT WAS THE GROUNDS THATS BAD AND THAT IF THE ISSUE WAS UNDER A RECALL IT SHOULD BE DONE AGAIN. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SAFE TO DRIVE AND SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE OCTOBER 15TH 2019, IT IS CURRENTLY JANUARY 8TH 2020. THIS PART IS AN ISSUE FOR ALL 2014 AND 2015 IMPALA AND MALIBU VEHICLES WITH THE ENGINE TYPE IN THE 2014 IMPALA LS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFERRED TO THE GM PART AS BEING DEFECTIVE YET GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. GM REFUSES TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE PART AND WILL NOT EVEN CONFIRM IF IT WILL EVER BE PRODUCED AGAIN. THIS ISSUE IS EFFECTING THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES AND GM'S FAILURE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IS LEAVING THE OWNERS OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES DRIVING UNSAFE VEHICLES. WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING ON THE DASH AND WARNING LIGHTS IN THE MIRRORS FLASHED RANDOMLY. GM DEALER SAID IT WAS A SENSOR THAT WATER HAD LEAKED IN AND CORRODED INSIDE. SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND WOULD TAKE A WEEK TO GET THE PART. THE NEXT DAY IT SHUT OFF AFTER ABOUT ONE MINUTE WHEN STARTED WITH THE REMOTE START. WHEN DRIVING ON THE STREET MORE INDICATOR WARNINGS CAME ON: AIRBAG, TRACTION CONTROL, PARKING BRAKE, ETC.; THE A/C CAME ON BY ITSELF; THE HEADLIGHTS, HEATER, AND TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. AFTER STARTING IT WITH THE KEY AND RUNNING IT FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES, IT SHUT ITSELF OFF. ONCE STARTED AGAIN, WOULD ONLY MOVE ABOUT A FOOT AND THEN STOPPED SHARPLY, LIKE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN SLAMMED ON. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES. PARKED IT AGAIN AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY STILL SAY IT'S THE SENSOR PROBLEM AND WILL BE $1200 TO FIX. THEY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE FURTHER ALTHOUGH IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY PROBLEM.

I BROUGHT IT TO BONNER CHEVROLET WHO STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND IT MAY BE DUE TO RUNNING TOO HIGH OF AN OCTANE OF FUEL. THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. OCTOBER 2016 I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT I ALSO NOTICED A SLIGHT TICKING NOISE. A MOTOR MOUNT WAS CHANGED BUT NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THE SHIFTING ISSUE OR BAD SMELL. THEY STATED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT GIVING ANY CODES, THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. AUGUST 13 2017 AT 25 OR 30 MPH WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKED MY SON AND I FORWARD. IT ALSO DID THIS WHILE DOWNSHIFTING. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS FOR 5 MINUTES UNTIL IT BEGAN TO NO LONGER SHIFT GEARS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT GOT TO 4500RPM WHEN I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I TURNED IT BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED. AFTER ANOTHER 5 MINUTES I GOT HOME. MONDAY 8/14 AFTER ARGUING WITH CHEVY ABOUT TOWING MY CAR SINCE THEY DIDNT WANT TO PICK IT UP UNTIL 8/17, THEY AGREED TO PICK IT UP THAT DAY 8/14. THEY ALSO STATED I WOULD GET A RENTAL AS LONG AS IT WAS DETERMINED THE ISSUE WAS A FAILURE ON BEHALF OF CHEVY AND NOT MYSELF. TUESDAY 8/15 CAME WITH NO UPDATE FROM THE DEALSERSHIP. WEDNESDAY MORNING 8/16 I CALLED FOR AN UPDATE AND WAS INFORMED THE CAR HAD "INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE". THE SERVICE REP PAUL AT VALLEY CHEVROLET REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE CODE THE CAR WAS GIVING FOR THE INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE. HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME A RENTAL BECAUSE THE CAR HAS OVER 36K MILES. I INFORMED HIM THIS IS CONFLICTING FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD ON 8/14 BY CUSTOMER SERVICE. HE SAID THAT IF I DID NOT WANT THE CAR FIXED, THAT HE COULD LEAVE MY CAR OUTSIDE. NO CALL BACK YET FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE AS THE RENTAL AND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARANTEE.

ON 12/21/16 WHILE MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE 10 IN TUCSON, AZ, THE VEHICLE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN A "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" SIGN POPPED UP, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 30 MPH WITHOUT WARNING AND SHIFTING DOWN THROUGH ALL GEARS NEARLY RED LINING THE RPMS AND CAUSING AN REAR-END COLLISION. WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE FREEWAY AND TOOK IT INTO LOCAL AUTO-ZONE FOR TESTING. THE TEST CAME BACK AS A "THROTTLE SENSOR MALFUNCTION". THE VEHICLE NOW DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE, AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 45 MPH WITHOUT SHAKING AND FEELING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO GIVE OUT. CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE COST WAS GOING TO VARY BETWEEN $400-1,000 WITH A $100 TEST FEE UP FRONT. I'VE ALSO READ NUMEROUS SIMILAR ISSUES ONLINE FROM PEOPLE DRIVING CHEVROLET IMPALA FROM 2006-2016. THE CAR FEEL VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I FEEL IT COULD BE A DEATH TRAP AS THERE IS NO CONTROL OVER WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL CHOOSE TO DECELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THERE HAS BEEN NO MECHANICAL ISSUES BEFORE THIS INCIDENT, AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THROUGH NUMEROUS MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE UP-KEEPS THAT WERE RECOMMENDED BY SERVICE MANAGERS. *TR
