Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017 Volkswagen Passat, 2018 Tiguan LWB, 2007-2009 Jetta Sedan, 2011-2013, 2015 and 2019 Jetta, 2013 Jetta Hybrid, 2008-2009 Jetta Sportwagen, 2015 Golf Sportwagen, 2013 Golf, 2008-2010 and 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible, 2008-2010 Beetle, and Beetle Convertible vehicles. Modifications made while the vehicles were in an internal evaluation period may cause the affected vehicles to not comply with all of the applicable regulatory requirements.
Fix: Volkswagen will notify owners and repurchase the affected vehicles. The recall began November 6, 2019. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 01D7. Note: This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 18V-329.

This Jetta Sportwagen TDI is one of the "diesel gate" vehicles that was supposedly fixed. However, post fix, the vehicle has been at the dealership for repairs more than it has been on the road for various emissions related issues revolving around the exhaust gas recirculation system and diesel particulate filter. Vehicle is washed regularly, including scrubbing of the chaise pipe ends with heavy duty soot cleaning solution. vehicle takes less than a week to collect enough soot on the tailpipe to cause transference to finger when whipped. This is an indication that an excessive amount of soot is not being properly recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculating system to be rebut in the diesel particulate filter. This also indicates that the "fix" for the cheating emissions system is not doing its job and vehicle is likely emitting particulate and NOX at levels far above legal limits.
HELLO. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH MY 2011 VW JETTA'S AC SYSTEM. THERE IS AN AWFUL ODOR. IT SMELLS MOLDY AND MUSTY(MUSKY). I WENT TO A DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO CHANGE MY AIR FILTER AND A FEW OTHER THINGS. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS AND THE SMELL CAME RIGHT BACK. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER JETTA AND A PASSAT OWNER ONE 2012 AND ONE 2013, THEY ALSO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AT FIRST MY CAR HAD A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE SYSTEM WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND TURNED THE AIR ON. A FEW MINUTES LATER AN ODOR FILLED MY VENTS. THIS HAPPENED AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2013. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER. I HAVE CONSTANTLY CHANGED THE FILTERS AND WILL BE GETTING A NEW AIR COMPRESSOR SOON, BUT. I WAS TOLD THAT IT MAY NOT HELP THE SMELL FROM THE SYSTEM. I HAVE BEEN ONLINE SEARCHING TO SEE IF ANY OTHER VW OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS PREVALENT IN VW VEHICLES FROM AT LEAST 2009-2014. I WOULD HAVE SEARCHED MORE, BUT THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR VEHICLES MADE THAT I WAS OVERWHELMED. THIS WAS THE FIRST CAR THAT I PURCHASED MYSELF AND I WANTED TO KEEP IT AS LONG AS IT WOULD HOLD OUT. I AM AT OVER 144,000 MILES AND I LOVE THE CAR. I'M WORKING ON CHANGING OUT COMPONENTS THAT HAVEN'T EVEN MESSED UP YET, BECAUSE I KNOW THEY WILL EVENTUALLY. I WANT TO KEEP THIS CAR FOR AS LONG AS I CAN. I WANTED TO FOLLOW UP ON MY PREVIOUS CLAIM. AS STATED IN MY PREVIOUS NOTE, I NOTICED THE ODOR A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR. A FEW YEARS AFTER I GOT MY CAR, I DEVELOPED A MOLD ALLERGY AND IT WAS GETTING HARDER FOR ME TO BREATHE. THE ONLY TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED WAS WHEN I WOULD DRIVE MY CAR. SO, I HAD TO GO TO THE ALLERGY DOCTOR. THEY DID A FEW TESTS AND FOUND OUT I HAD A MOLD ALLERGY. A FEW WEEKS LATER, I KEPT SMELLING A SMELL FROM MY AC. I ASKED A FRIEND TO COME AND CHECK ON MY AIR FILTER IN MY CAR. HE PULLED IT OUT AND IT WAS FULL OF MOLD. HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS RETAINING MOISTURE IN MY A/C UNIT AND THAT IT IS PROBABLY WHAT IS HURTING MY ALLERGIES. WITH THAT BEING SAID, I HAVE TO CHANGE MY FILTER AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. ONE, TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DOESN'T MOLD. TWO, SO THAT I CAN BREATHE. WITH THAT BEING SAID, MY ALLERGIES BECAME WORSE AFTER I DISCOVERED THE MOLD. I HAD TO GO BACK ON MY ALLERGY SHOTS FOR AWHILE. BECAUSE MY ALLERGIES GOT SO BAD, EVEN WITH MY SHOTS AND OTHER MEDICATION, IT MESSED WITH MY BREATHING. SO, I HAD TO HAVE AN IN OFFICE PROCEDURE TO RELEASE SOME OF THE PRESSURE TO HELP ME BREATHE BETTER. ALL OF THIS TO SAY, VW KNOWS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THEY AC SYSTEM HOLDING MOISTURE AND IT MAKING THE CAR HAVE A MOLDY SMELL TO IT. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SUFFER, DUE TO A MANUFACTURERS CARELESSNESS. I FEEL AS IF THEY SHOULD REACH OUT TO ANYONE WITH AFFECTED VEHICLE OWNERS AND FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION TO THIS MATTER. I LOVE MY VOLKSWAGEN AND I WANTED TO LOOK INTO PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE, HOPEFULLY AN SUV TYPE, IN A FEW YEARS. BUT, IF THEY CANNOT FIX THIS ISSUE, I MAY NEVER LOOK INTO THEM AGAIN. KEY GETTING STUCK IN IGNITION WHILE VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING..WILL NOT TURN OFF
2011 JETTA STEREO DIED. WANT COMPENSATION IN CHECK MAILED TO ME FOR COST OF THE ORIGINAL STEREO
I'LL TURN MY CAR OFF AND WAIT FOR THE RPM'S TO GO BELOW 1,000 SOMETIMES I'LL SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND MY CAR WILL KICK AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. I HAVE GONE TO GET THE ERROR CHECKED BY MULTIPLE COMPUTERS; THE SAME ERROR READS AS TORCH CONVERTER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. AS I PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE IT JUMPS AGAIN SOMETIMES SOUNDING LIKE A SPRING IS DOING SOMETHING WEIRD. WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR THE ENGINE REVS AND DOES NOT SHIFT GEARS. THE CAR MOVES BUT IS STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. I CAN'T GO ABOVE 59 MPH NOR DO I WANT TO REV MY ENGINE AT 4500 RPMS. I GOT MY JETTA AT 66,000 MILES AND IT BEEN DOING EVER SINCE. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 95,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY.

HORN DOESN'T WORK AND THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT. A VEHICLE DECIDED TO DO A U-TURN IN FRONT OF ME WITH NO WARNING. HIT THE HORN TO FIND IT NOT FUNCTIONING. THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT TO INDICATE THERE IS AN ISSUE. THE PART THAT FAILED IS ALSO TIED TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. THE PART THAT FAILED IS THE CLOCK SPRING - J527 MODULE AS NOTED IN THE VW DEALER INDICATING THE HORN FUNCTIONS BUT THE MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2011 JETTA IS REGULARLY BECOMING STUCK AND I CANNOT TURN OFF MY VEHICLE. I SPENT OVER AN HOUR ON SATURDAY EVENING WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY TRYING TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY TO NO AVAIL. I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE ALONG WITH UNPLUGGING THE BATTERY. THE RADIO SYSTEM ALSO WENT OUT. FOLLOWING A LOUD POP THE SYSTEM QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY. SIMILAR TO MANY REPORTS I HAVE READ ONLINE SINCE THE OCCURRENCE.
STALLING OF VEHICLE WHILE IN TRAFFIC; EPC LIGHT WILL TURN ON, BATTERY LIGHT; REPLACEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH REGARDS TO FUEL AND OIL LEAKAGE AND STALLING STILL OCCURS
IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER ABRUPTLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL DUE TO THIS FAILURE. THEY KEY WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. IT WORKED ONE MOMENT AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPEDF WORKING. STRANDED AND HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. TOW COMPANY HAD TO DISASSEMBLE SHIFTER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO TOW. $645 + FOR TOW AND REPAIRS.
I CAN'T GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF.
IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE VEHICLE'S HORN STARTED WEAKENING OUT AND IT STOPPED WORKING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWNED AN MK6 (2011-2015) JETTA HAD THE SAME ISSUE ACROSS THE NATION. PLEASE ENFORCE THE VW TO OPEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
TURNED ON VEHICLE, WENT TO TURN ON THE STEREO, AND ONCE I HIT THE 'POWER' BUTTON, IT TURNED ON AND THEN THE SCREEN WENT BLACK, RESULTING IN THE COMPLETE LOSS OF THE HEAD UNIT, RADIO, BLUE TOOTH, AND CLOCK. FUSES WERE CHECKED IN BOTH THE FUSE BOX AND THE STEREO ITSELF, AND NO FUSES WERE BLOWN.

VW DEALER TESTED THE FUEL IN MY TANK AND IT SHOWED CLEAN DIESEL FUEL WITH NO CONTAMINANTS. VW PAID DEALER TO REPLACED FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS & CLEANED TANK, UNIT IN TANK & HARD LINES. ADAPTED INJECTORS,BLEED FUEL BY STEM AND TESTED. I'VE RETAINED RECORDS, COMMUNICATION, AND SAMPLE OF GAS IN TANK AT TIME OF COLLAPSE. ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER WITH VEHICLE.

WE HAD JUST ARRIVED TO OUR NEPHEW'S POP WARNER FOOTBALL GAME. WHEN WE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE WE TOLD OUR 8 YEAR OLD SON TO STAND BY THE CAR WHILE WE PULLED OUT OUR OTHER SON'S STROLLER OUR OF THE TRUCK. OUR 8 YEAR OLD LEANED AGAINST THE DRIVER SIDE REAR END WHEN SUDDENLY WE HEARD HIM SCREECH IN PAIN. WE ASKED WHAT HAD HAPPENED HE SAID THAT HE FELT SOMETHING HOT HIT HIS LEG. WHEN WE LOOKED WE NOTICED THAT HE HAD BURNED HIS RIGHT CALF AND IT WAS BECAUSE THE EXHAUST PIPES STUCK OUT TOO FAR. WE TRIED TO TREAT THE BURN OURSELF WITH BURN OINTMENT BUT IT WAS NOT ENOUGH. THE NEXT DAY WE TOOK HIM TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM TO HAVE A DOCTOR LOOK AT IT AND SHE SAID THAT HE HAD 3RD DEGREE BURNS AND THAT IT WAS INFECTED.
