Your vehicle stalled while driving at 35 mph and lost power steering and brakes, though you were able to coast to safety. Warning lights indicated low oil pressure and brake issues, with fault codes pointing to fuel pump and engine control problems. The issue may be related to a known fuel system defect, though your vehicle's VIN was not included in the recall. Diagnosis will likely require connecting a diagnostic scanner to read the fault codes and checking the fuel pump, oil pressure system, and engine control module.

Your truck stalled without warning while driving up an incline after exiting the freeway, which could have caused an accident. You discovered that 2019-2020 Toyota pickups have a known issue with fuel pump failure, and Toyota issued a recall—but your truck wasn't included in it despite being affected by the same problem. The fuel pump may need to be replaced or inspected to restore proper fuel delivery to the engine.

Your check engine light came on twice, and the Toyota dealer discovered a faulty low-pressure fuel pump. The service technician warned that driving at highway speeds could cause the engine to suddenly stop, creating a serious safety hazard. The fuel pump is being replaced, though Toyota has not covered the repair cost despite an extended recall being in effect for some vehicles with your VIN.

Your truck suddenly stopped running while driving at 55,247 miles. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as a failed fuel pump and replaced it. Both the mechanic and towing service noted it's unusual for such a new truck to experience fuel pump failure.

Your fuel pump may not be turning on properly. While driving at 30 mph, your truck started jumping and jerking as if it were running out of gas, and you barely made it home. This issue has been occurring for 2-3 weeks. Diagnosing and replacing the fuel pump or its electrical connections may be necessary.

Was driving to the store, and it started cutting out jumping and jerking with tremendous loss of power barely made it home had to push it in my DRV way and still no start it says my truck is not in the recall for faulty fuel pump warning check engine lights came on and says malfunction in the throttle body censer and automatic transmission sender
The truck has been jumping/idling oddly & after getting gas, is very difficult to restart. Our mechanic said the fuel pump is bad & that it was recalled, but when I contacted the dealership, they are claiming it is not covered under the recall.
The truck has died while driving two separate times. It seems that the problem is the fuel pump, just like we now know have been recalled by Toyota in this model and others. The symptoms are exactly what have been reported by people experiencing faulty fuel pumps that are covered by the recall. My truck is not currently covered by the recall and toyota is refusing to replace the fuel pump, saying that they can’t duplicate the problem after having the vehicle for a week. No resolution has been offered. Just, “Sorry we can’t make it fail and we can’t replace it.” I have spoken with toyota corporate and got the same response. The company is not doing the right thing with this problem, as evidenced by the class action lawsuit ongoing. A major disappointment to say the least. I’m getting absolutely no help from dealer or manufacturer on a major safety issue on a vehicle in its power train warranty period on a known issue. Not even a loaner car.
I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY, THE TRUCK STARTED JUMPING AND LOSS POWER. THEN CUT OFF AND WOULDN'T CRANK BACK UP FOR A FEW MINUTES. EVENTUALLY IT CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES. UNTIL IT FINALLY DIED AND WOULD NOT RUN EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD CRANK. TOOK IT IN AND FOUND OUT MY PARTICULAR TRUCK WASN'T RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. THEY PUT A FUEL PUMP ON IT. BUT THEY DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE NEWER UPDATED PUMP OR THE OLDER VERSION KNOWN TO HAVE PROBLEMS. SO I'M RIDING AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD FAIL ANYTIME.
THE TRUCK NEVER SHOWS MORE THAN 320 MILES OF RANGE(SHOULD SHOW 400+)AND ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED HARD. THERE IS A NOTICEABLE SHUDDER WHEN THE CAR IS IDLING OR A NEUTRAL. FEELS LIKE DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS BUT IT ONLY HAS 8K.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION TOYOTA MALL OF GEORGIA (3505 BUFORD DR, BUFORD, GA 30519, (770)674-6083) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH IN THE CITY . BRAKES LOCKED AND THE CAR STALLED OFF . I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY TRIED TO INITIATE THE SAME ERROR BUT COULD NOT .
TAKES LONG TO START UP. CRANKS OVER WAY TOO MUCH. SOMETIMES STALLS. ALREADY HEARD STARTER GRIND ON FLYWHEEL TWICE.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN OPERATING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. HAS STALLED OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN PARKING LOTS. HAS BROKEN DOWN AND REGISTERED FUEL TROUBLE CODES FOUR TIMES IN LESS THAN 90 DAYS. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS IT HAS REGISTERED THE P08700 AND P0017100 CODES FOR LOW FUEL PRESSURE. DEALER HAS REPLACED HIGH AND LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS AND PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION BECAUSE THE DRIVER LOSES ALL POWER AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESTART. THE DRIVER HAS TO LOOK FOR A PLACE TO 'DITCH' OR PUSH OUT OF TRAFFIC. IT HAS BLOCKED TRAFFIC DURING STALLING EPISODES, CAUSING A SAFETY CONCERN.
THE VEHICLE SMELLED OF GASOLINE. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WHETHER IT WAS 2 MILES OR 20 MILES, ONCE REACHING THE DESTINATION YOU COULD SMELL GASOLINE. THE SMELL LINGERED FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
