Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by SET or SET dealers. The adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing the hood scoop to detach from the vehicle.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood, free of charge. The recall began on September 1, 2017. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-954-429-2000. SET's number for this recall is SET17B.

Your truck's frame has developed significant rust and corrosion, likely from years of exposure to road salt in snowy climates. A recall was issued for this exact problem, but your dealership refused to service it because your truck is now registered in a warmer state. You're concerned the rusty frame may be unsafe to drive. Addressing this will likely require frame inspection and rust treatment or replacement, which may need to be handled through Toyota corporate or a specialist shop willing to perform the recall work.

Your truck's white paint is peeling and beginning to show rust underneath. The dealership confirmed your Tacoma has a delaminating paint problem, and while they've seen this issue on other Tacomas, your specific model year isn't covered under a current recall. A collision center estimates your entire truck will eventually need to be repainted to prevent further rust damage. Toyota North America declined to assist, stating this isn't covered under their special service campaign.

Your 2014 Tacoma's paint is chipping off in large sections, especially on the passenger side doors near the windows. You believe this is the same defect that triggered a recall for 2016-2022 model years and are requesting your vehicle be included in that recall. Fixing this would likely involve repainting the affected areas or replacing the door panels.

Your sun visors on both the driver's and passenger's sides started making popping sounds and stopped working properly around 60,000 miles. Even after a repair shop replaced both visors, the problem happened again. The manufacturer was contacted but couldn't provide further assistance.

MY TRUCK IS 'SPRUCE MICA GREEN, THE CLEAR COAT IS CRACKED AND PEELING ON FLAT SURFACES. 2014 MODEL. THIS IS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY FOR PAYING $38,000.00 FOR A NEW VEHICLE THAT HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT.
EXTREME RUST OF REAR BUMPER. COMPROMISED BUMPER. UNSAFE PROTECTION IN CASE OF ACCIDENT. DANGEROUS CONDITION. BROUGHT TO RIVERHEAD TOYOTA AS PART OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM. I WAS TOLD THE BUMPER IS NOT PART OF THE FRAME AND THEREFORE IT IS NOT COVERED. THE BUMPER IS PART OF THE STRUCTURAL SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
OUR TRUCK WAS NOT ON AND THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION OR EVEN IN THE TRUCK. MY HUSBAND WAS HOOKING UP THE BOAT TRAILER AND OUR TWO YEAR OLD SON PUT THE TRUCK INTO NUTRAL. MY HUSBAND SAID THE TRUCK ROLLED A LITTLE. WE DONT FEEL AS THOUGH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK INTO ANOTHER GEAR FROM PARK UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE TRUCK IS ON. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD SCENARIO IF WE WOULD HAVE BEEN PARKED ON A HILL OR INCLINE. WE JUST DONT WANT SOMEONE TO GET HURT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF NORTH MIAMI, 16600 NW 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33169) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM A PRIVATE SELLER. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE TOYOTA FRAME RECALL FROM A 3RD PARTY. BROUGHT MY TACOMA IN FOR THE RECALL IN 2013 BUT TOYOTA DID NOT WANT TO CHECK IT BECAUSE I WAS A COUPLE MONTHS PASS THEIR DEAD LINE. NEVER GOT A RECALL LETTER. IN 2014 I HAD THE TRUCK FRAME CHECK AND UNDERCOATED BY A SMALL BUSINESS IN THE AREA BECAUSE I LIKE THE TRUCK AND WANTED IT TO LAST. FALL OF 2017 WENT TO GET THE TRUCK INSPECTED AND INSPECTION STATION TOLD ME MY FRAME WAS GETTING BAD. WHEN I GOT HOME I WANTED CHECK IT OUT FOR MYSELF TO FINE OUT IF MY FRAME WAS REALLY GOING BAD. AS I WAS CHECKING THE FRAME, I WAS ABLE TO PASS MY FIGURES THROUGH THE INSIDE OF MY FRAME. CALLED TOYOTA TO REPORT THIS AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT SINCE I DID NOT BRING MY TRUCK TO GET CHECK IN 2012 THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. THEY SAID THAT IT WASN'T A RECALL BUT A BULLETIN THAT THEY HAD IN 2012.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERE WIND NOISE COMING FROM THE DOOR PANELS. THE NOISE DISTRACTED THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULD SOMETIMES FREEZE AND MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TACOMA TRUCK PARKED AND STATIONARY. PASSENGER EXITED VEHICLE BUT THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED ALL THE WAY BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSE TO A WALL. THE SHARP ROUGH CORNER EDGE OF THE BOTTOM REAR OF THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SLICED A PASSENGERS LEG AS THE LEG WAS MOVED TO CLEAR THE DOOR.. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS SIMILAR BUT NOT AS TOUGH OR SHARP AS PASSENGERS BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DOOR. IT HAS LEFT A SCAR ON THE LEG. ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BOTH FRONT DOORS HAVE SCRAPED MY LEG TWICE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND MY WIFE'S LEG TWICE ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS LIMITED CLEARANCE FROM THE DOOR THAT IS NEAR A WALL OR OTHER CAR. THIS HAPPENS ON A QUAD CAB BECAUSE THE FRONT DOORS ARE CUT WITH A STRAIGHT EDGE AND THE METAL IS NOT ROUNDED OR SMOOTH FINISH LIKE THE BACK DOORS. TOYOTA ADMITS IN A LETTER THAT THE BOTTOM REAR CORNER PASSENGER DOOR IS SLIGHTLY ROUGHER THAN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHERE THE INJURY MIGHT OCCUR. TOYOTA WILL TAKE NO ACTION.
THE 2014, TOYOTA TACOMA 4X4 - CREW CAB, HAS A HOOD SCOOP. UPON DRIVING WEST INTO THE SUN THE GLARE WAS SO BRIGHT FROM THE HOOD SCOOP THAT I COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD. I CONSIDER THIS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. IT WAS "TOTALLY" IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE TRAFFIC OR ROAD CONDITIONS, BEING COMPLETELY BLINDED BY THE GLARE. VEHICLE VIN#: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
WINDSHIELD SEAL LIFTS IN HIGH WINDS AND ALLOWS AIR INTO CAB OF TRUCK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING FROM EAST TO WEST AND CROSSING THE GORGE AT GEORGE, WASHINGTON WIND WAS BLOWING REALLY HARD. THEN I HEARD WIND NOISE COMING INTO THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED AT THE NEXT REST AREA AND CHECKED THE VEHICLE OUT AND FOUND THAT THE WINDSHIELD SEAL HAD LIFTED AND WAS CAUSING WIND NOISE AND FLEXING OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC HAD THE WINDSHIELD BLOWN COMPLETELY OUT. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. *TR
Your truck's body panels are showing rust. This is a cosmetic issue but can worsen over time if left untreated. Addressing rust early helps prevent it from spreading deeper into the metal and affecting the vehicle's appearance and long-term durability.
