Your 2024 RAV4 Hybrid accelerated on its own while you were parking, even though you had your foot firmly on the brake. The vehicle hit a tree, but the airbags did not deploy and you were not injured. Two days before this happened, a "Hybrid System Fail" warning appeared on your dashboard. The repair shop found that the black box didn't record any system failure during the crash. The issue likely involves the hybrid propulsion system and may require diagnostic testing of the hybrid battery, motor control systems, and brake override safety features.

Your RAV4 allows you to turn off the engine using the push-button start even when the transmission is still in Drive, rather than requiring it to be in Park like traditional key-operated vehicles. This means the car can roll away if you exit without shifting to Park, which happened to you twice—once at a curb where the car started rolling, and twice in your driveway. The fix would involve either redesigning the engine shut-off system to require Park selection first, or adding a stronger warning system to prevent accidental engine shutdown while in Drive.

Your transmission may be experiencing issues with the e-CVT system. You might hear grinding sounds from underneath the car when braking, notice sluggish acceleration on hills, and feel the engine slip or race when going downhill. A transmission fluid flush, filter replacement, or internal transmission repair may be needed to resolve these issues.

I drove through heavy rain and after sitting in park for about 15 minutes, my car started shaking and the dashboard lit up. I received a power steering low message and when I tried shifting into drive, it said car not ready to drive. I turned it off and back on and it started, but eventually stalled after a few seconds.

After driving for 45 minutes and parking your RAV4, you heard abnormal sounds when trying to restart it. The engine wouldn't start, lost power, displayed a "Not ready to Drive" message, and the gear shifter became stuck. Your dealer checked the vehicle but found no trouble codes and said it was operating normally, so no repairs were performed.
