Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 RAV4 and 2025 Lexus NX vehicles. Some of the bolts that secure the front brake caliper and the wheel hub bearing may be loose, which can result in a damaged caliper brake hose or possible wheel detachment.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and tighten the front brake caliper mounting bracket and hub bearing bolts, as necessary, free of charge. In addition, any damaged components will be replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TA14 and 24LA08.

When driving on rough roads, your brakes aren't responding properly when you try to stop, and your car shakes before the brakes engage. This happens consistently on rough roads and makes it feel like the brakes are delayed or not working as they should. The issue likely involves brake system components that need inspection and adjustment to restore proper braking performance.

Your car rolled backwards while you had the brake pedal fully pressed in reverse, and the vehicle was involved in a crash. Toyota reviewed your claim but determined it wasn't a defect. This suggests a potential brake system malfunction where the brakes aren't holding the vehicle stationary as expected.

Your brakes didn't provide enough stopping power when you tried to stop at a red light, causing the car to skid briefly and triggering a brake warning message on your dashboard. The Toyota dealership said they would charge you $225 to diagnose the issue if they couldn't reproduce the problem during a test drive. A brake system inspection and possible fluid or component replacement may be needed to restore proper stopping power.

When you pressed the brake pedal to park, your car accelerated up a hill instead of slowing down. After releasing the brake and pumping it several times, the car eventually decelerated and you were able to park, but not before hitting a passenger corner panel. The dealership said they haven't heard of brake issues on this model and suggested filing an insurance claim while they inspect the vehicle for defects.

Your forward collision avoidance system is falsely detecting oncoming traffic as too close and automatically braking hard after you've already pulled into traffic, even though there's no actual danger. This prevents you from accelerating and leaves your car stopped in the lane, putting you at risk of being hit by other vehicles. The issue has happened 3 times when pulling out into traffic. The fix will likely involve recalibrating or reprogramming the forward collision sensors and control module.

Your brakes failed to stop the vehicle when you pressed the pedal while trying to avoid another vehicle, causing you to crash into a curb and then a pole. The crash resulted in significant damage to your vehicle's passenger side, a detached front wheel, transmission fluid leakage, and airbag deployment that caused a burn injury to your wrist. The brake system will need to be thoroughly inspected and repaired by a mechanic to identify why the brakes didn't respond.

Your ABS light comes on and you hear grinding when braking over slight dips or slopes on dry pavement, which started at 3,000 miles. At 28,000 miles, you began hearing squeaking from the front driver's side, especially when braking slowly, backing up, or turning right—a mechanic found the brake caliper bolt is loose and the caliper itself is loose. A Toyota service visit at 3,000 miles didn't identify the issue. The fix will likely involve tightening or replacing the brake caliper bolts and ensuring the caliper is properly secured.

Your front brakes make a squealing or squeaking noise when you apply light to moderate brake pressure while driving at low speeds. This is a noise issue rather than a safety concern. The fix typically involves inspecting the brake pads for wear, cleaning the brake components, or replacing worn brake pads if needed.
