Filed: Feb 2010

Your Land Cruiser experienced unintended acceleration where the engine suddenly sped up on its own while your wife was driving, and she had difficulty stopping the vehicle. You took it to a Toyota dealer, but they initially didn't believe the problem existed until you paid out of pocket to have it repaired at Beechmont Toyota in Cincinnati, Ohio. The issue has not returned since the repair was completed.

While stopped at a stop sign, your vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own, causing you to lose control and rear-end the car in front of you. You later noticed the cruise control light was on even though you hadn't engaged it. The incident occurred in snowy conditions, and your antilock brakes pulsated as the vehicle slid, preventing it from stopping.
