While driving at 70 mph on the highway, your vehicle suddenly displayed a malfunction alert and began steering uncontrollably to the right, striking another vehicle three lanes away. You were unable to regain control of the steering or stop the car safely until after the collision, when the vehicle returned to its original lane and came to a stop. This steering failure resulted in damage to both vehicles and created a serious safety hazard.

While using lane keeping assist on the highway, your car's steering system jerked you to the right when an oncoming truck crossed the center line, even as you tried to steer left. The steering assist then jerked you right again when the lane line became visible, causing your car to go into a ditch. The system appeared to struggle when the lane markings were faded or missing.

Shortly after purchasing your 2023 Corolla Cross, your car stalled at a red light and displayed warning messages about low steering power. When you pressed the brake firmly, the car wouldn't restart or move, forcing traffic behind you (including a semi truck) to swerve around you. Turning the car completely off and restarting it resolved the issue, but the dealership couldn't reproduce the problem. The fix may involve diagnosing the engine's stop/start system, power steering pump, and brake pressure sensor to identify why the car stalled and failed to restart.

Your car is shutting off unexpectedly in wet conditions, leaving you stranded at traffic lights. When this happens, you'll see warning messages about low power steering and the engine stopping, and pressing the brake won't help you restart—you have to shift to park and use the start/stop button to get the engine running again. This is dangerous because you can't move when traffic signals change. The issue likely involves diagnosing why the engine is stalling in humid or rainy weather, possibly related to electrical connections, fuel delivery, or sensor malfunction.

Your car's automatic engine shut-off feature malfunctioned while you were stopped at a red light, completely turning off the engine instead of just pausing it. The dashboard displayed an engine-off warning, interior lights flashed, and an alarm sounded, but pressing the brake didn't restart the vehicle as expected. You also received a power steering warning. You had to manually put the car in park and restart it, leaving you stranded in the middle of a busy intersection at night in the rain with your children in the vehicle, which created a dangerous situation for your family and other drivers. The issue hasn't occurred again, but the dealership is investigating the problem, which may involve checking the engine control module, power steering system, and automatic stop-start system software.

Your car drifts left and right unpredictably on level roads at highway speeds, even when the steering wheel is centered, forcing you to constantly correct it back to center. The problem persists whether your lane-keeping assist features are on or off, creating an oscillating pulling pattern that feels unsafe. This likely requires a wheel alignment check or suspension inspection to correct the drifting behavior.

Your car is shutting off unexpectedly at traffic lights—not the normal auto-stop feature, but a complete power loss. When this happens, you see messages saying "press the brake to restart" and "steering power low," along with a check engine light. After putting the car in park and restarting, it works temporarily, but the problem repeats at the next stoplight. This issue likely involves a battery, alternator, or engine control system problem that needs diagnostic testing to identify the root cause.
