Your 2010 Toyota Corolla's factory paint is peeling and flaking off in sheets from the body panels, particularly if you have Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint. This is a known defect where the topcoat isn't bonding properly to the primer underneath. While paint peeling itself isn't immediately dangerous, loose paint fragments could become road debris, and exposed metal underneath may eventually rust and weaken the body panels. Fixing this typically requires having the affected panels professionally repainted or refinished.

I DELIVER FOR DOORDASH AND I WAS MAKING MY THIRD DELIVERY OF THE MORNING. AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO PARK MY CAR I TRIED TO OUT MY CAR INTO PARK LIKE I HAD BEEN ALL MORNING EXCEPT THIS TIME I COULDN'T PUT MY CAR INTO PARK. AFTER I FINISHED THE DELIVERY I WENT BACK OUT TO MY CAR TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD AND I COULDN'T TAKE MY CAR OUT OF PARK. IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS JAMMED AND THE GEAR STUCK WOULD BARELY BUDGE. MY FIRST INSTINCT WAS TO LOOK ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER CARS LIKE MINE AND MANY ARTICLES POPPED UP OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR CAR. MY CAR HAS ZERO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION, GEAR BOX OR ANYTHING IN THE PAST AND IT'S NEVER MADE ANY ODD NOISES EITHER. I BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAUSED.

THE CAR WAS DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY FOR A 40 MINUTE TRIP AND WHEN WE GOT HOME THE DASH HAD STARTED TO MELT AND BURN. IT STARTS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE NEAR THE AIR BAG SIGN AND CONTINUES TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ACROSS THE LOWER GLOVE COMPARTMENT.

I WILL START BY SAYING THAT I HAVE A TOYOTA COROLLA 2010. ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 13,2016 WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A STREET ABOUT 20/30 MPH MY CAR STARTED ACCELERATING BY ITSELF, I TRIED TO STOP BY PRESSING THE BRAKE, BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING, THEN I MOVED THE HANDLE ON PARKING, THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND UNTIL I PULL THE HAND BRAKE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED TOYOTA AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT HAPPEN. QUICKLY THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP MY CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER FOR THE DAY. THE PERSON AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY WILL CONTACT ME THE NEXT DAY AND WE COULD TAKE IT FROM THERE. NOBODY CALLED SO AROUND 3PM I CALLED ASKING THEY SAID THEY HAVEN'T HEAR FROM CORPORATION AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW. I ASK ABOUT THE LOANER CAR. THEY SAID NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. THE SAME THING HAPPENS THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED THEY SAY NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE CAR AND THAT THEY WILL CALL ME IF THEY HAVE ANY NEWS ON MY CAR. ON FRIDAY AROUND 4:50 THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME AND SAID THAT TOYOTA CORPORATION HAD CONCLUDED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY SAID I COULD PICK UP MY CAR AND PAY FOR THE RENTAL CAR AND THE INSPECTION OF THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAD SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND SO FRUSTRATED THE TOYOTA HAD DECIDED THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE GRANDKIDS WHO GETS IN THE CAR ALSO MY JOB REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE PATIENTS IN MY CAR.

ANY NEEDED REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE..." IT GOES ON TO STATE: "IN THE MEANTIME, SALES CONTINUE ON TOYOTA'S FULL LINE OF VEHICLES. THOSE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL WERE FIXED QUICKLY, THANKS TO SWIFT DELIVERY OF NEEDED PARTS BY TOYOTA." THE AD THEN EXPLAINS HOW OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING DRIVEN CAN MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THEM FIXED "WITHIN THE NEXT 90 DAYS". THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! TOYOTA IS MAKING STATEMENTS THAT THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST, THE CEO LOOKS LIKE HE'S ABOUT TO FALL ON HIS SWORD... YET THEY ARE REPAIRING VEHICLES ON THE DEALERSHIP'S LOT TO PREPARE THEM FOR POSSIBLE SALE BEFORE THEY REPAIR CUSTOMER'S VEHICLES THAT ARE BEING DRIVEN EVERY DAY??? THAT REALLY MAKES IT SEEM LIKE TOYOTA'S FIRST PRIORITY IS ITS CUSTOMER'S SAFETY AND SATISFACTION, HUH? MY MOTHER-IN-LAW DRIVES A 2010 COROLLA. I CALLED THE DEALER SHE PURCHASED IT FROM AND ASKED IF THEY WERE SELLING NEW COROLLA'S AT SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNTS. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WERE. I THEN ASKED IF MY RELATIVES COULD BRING THEIR COROLLA IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD: "NO, WE ARE WORKING ON CAMRY'S FIRST. WE ONLY HAVE ENOUGH PARTS TO FIX THE COROLLAS WE HAVE ON THE LOT." I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY STOP THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF. AT THIS TIME, I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE IN MY FAMILY TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I AM AN ENGINEER AND THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD WITH NO GRADE (FLAT ROAD).
