SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Prius and Corolla, 2009-2011 Venza, 2006-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2005-2011 Sienna and Sequoia, 2006-2011 Tacoma 4x2 and 4x4, Camry, Highlander, Tundra 4x2 and 4x4, and 2007-2011 Rav4 and 4Runner. The affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.

Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the heaters with copper strand heating elements and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory, free of charge. The recall is expected to began in January 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.

Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEAT HEADRESTS RESTRICT VISIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THE SEAT WAS DESIGNED. THE PURCHASE DATE AND A VALID VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 25,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.

TL*- THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY SEEING OUT OF THE 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA'S REARVIEW MIRROR BECAUSE THE HEAD RESTRAINT WAS BLOCKING THE VIEW. THE CONTACT CALLED MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THEY COULD INSTALL THE HEAD RESTRAINT THAT WAS ON THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA WHICH WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE HEADREST SHE HAD IN HER VEHICLE, BUT MANUFACTURER STATED THEY COULD NOT DO THAT. THE ONLY OPTION THE MANUFACTURER GAVE HER WASTO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2600.*AK

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY HEADRESTS OBSTRUCTED THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BACK THE VEHICLE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR WHILE DRIVING AND LOOKING TO PASS A VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THIS WAS A NORMAL DESIGN AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO USE THE REARVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS FOR VIEWING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE. THE HEAD REST IN THE BACK TOTALLY BLOCK THE VISION WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. THERE IS A DEFINITE BLIND SPOT THAT IS NOT DIMINISHED BY THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 1 MONTH AND HAVE HAD 3 "CLOSE CALLS" WITH PEDESTRIANS APPEARING AS IF FROM NOWHERE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM IN ANY OTHER AUTOMOBILE. *JB
