2020 Subaru Forester Wipers & Visibility Problems

As I was driving my 2020 Subaru Forester a cracked suddenly appeared across the driver side of the windshield, possibly from a small pebble. The sunlight reflection off the crack sent blinding sunlight into my eyes which nearly caused a collision with the car stopped in front of me. I now have another crack that started from the other side making my car unsafe to drive.

The headlights produces little to no lighting when driving at night. I almost got into an accident last night because I had extremely low visibility, even with the high beams on.

I believe the SUBARU FORESTER 2020 WINDSHIELD is dangerous and is a system failure. In April, 2022 a piece of gravel hit the windshield--smaller than the size of a quarter. Within hours, the windshield had fractured so much that there was no way that I could continue to drive safely as the windshield flowered and split the driver's eye view.

Windshield cracked due to no apparent cause - no collision, no rock hitting it. It simply appeared overnight.

WHILE SITTING STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT MY WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY WENT "POP!" AND THEN A CRACK STARTED RUNNING DOWN MY WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I SAW NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I PURCHASED IT 1 WEEK AGO BRAND NEW.

2020 FORESTER. WINDSHIELD CRACKS. WITHIN A YEAR. ONE +1FT LONG CRACK RAN FROM BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER TO MID WINDSHIELD. WINDSHIELD REPLACED. CRACKED AGAIN, THIS TIME ABOUT 18INCH CRACK, STARTING IN LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF WINDSCREEN, RAPIDLY RAN INTO MID WINDSCREEN/WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY IN DRIVERS FIELD OF VIEW. THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED IN MY MULTI DECADE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. NEITHER THE OWNER, ME, NOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY SHOULD PAY FOR THIS. AND BECAUSE IT MIGRATES TO MID WINDSHIELD, IT IS A SIGNIFICANT DRIVING DISTRACTION, PARTICULARLY IN SOME SUN CONDITIONS.

I WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH ON CITY STREETS WHEN A SMALL ROCK HIT THE LOWER PART OF WINDSHIELD. NORMALLY YOU GET A ROCK CHIP AND YOU HAVE TIME TO SEAL. I HAD ZERO TIME TO GET WINDSHIELD FIXED AS THE WINDSHIELD SPLIT WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. WINDSHIELD SPLITTING SO FAST FOR SUCH A LITTLE ROCK CHIP CAN BE HAZARDOUS.

AN OBJECT HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND SEVERAL MINUTES AFTERWARDS, MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO INTERSTATE 35E-SOUTH IN MINNESOTA.

While driving I had a very tiny rock hit the windshield(barely made a noise) within about 10 seconds the windshield cracked a good 20 inches. After stopping and inspecting the area I could only find a pin whole area where(?)maybe something hit the windshield.

Another chip in the windshield. This is the third chip in a month period, less than 4000 miles on a brand new car. Had to have the chip and line/run fixed by a certified repair person who even questioned why he had fixed the vehicle now 3 times!

While on the interstate, a rock from another vehicle hit the windshield in what normal is a small rock chip was an immediate 10' crack to the windshield. The original rock impact is not deep and extremely tiny but it caused a crack that ended up being a full windshield replacement with eyesight. Extremely expensive for something that should have been a rock chip repair.

No rock had hit that side of the window. I park at a bbq on the side of a residential road, no cars drive past, and three hours later I have a two foot crack in my window. Best part, took it to the dealer and he used his phone camera to zoom in as far as possible to say it was a rock chip and then picked at it to make it look even more so.

Returning from vt on road that I have frequently travelled with no issue. This time driving my 2 month old 2020 subaru forester sport on I-95 and I noticeo a small ding almost dead center bottom of front windshield. I was driving on a two lane road with one car in front of me and a car next to me. Without hearing any impact or seeing any rocks, I noticed a crack in the bottom, middle of my windshield. It was about 6 inches long with no impact mark.

Driving lower than 40 m/h on the city street with nobody in front when wipers were on due to snowing, a small crack suddenly appeared right on the bottom going vertically, almost in the center of windshield. It was about 6-7 inches before car was parked in the garage. In the morning noticed that crack changed the direction horizontally to the right, growing more for 2-3 inches.

Two days ago, after having the car for about three weeks, we had a crack appear and grow from the top portion of the windshield. On our drive yesterday, there was one incident where ice came down from a power line and hit the car, but I'm positive we weren't hit by any rocks. I have a brand new, 2020 forester (touring) . When I had it for 21 days, I picked up a small rock in the windshield.the rock was small but it ruined my windshield. It I immediately spread across the windshield and is now covers three areas and more than 1/2 of my windshield .

Car is brand new. Within 2 weeks of purchasing already 3 chips in windshield when no rocks were observed hitting. One of the chips is in front of the eyesight system and if it grows it will hamper the safety systems of the car.

I purchased the vehicle on saturday, november 30, 2019. As I began my drive to work the following friday (december 6), I noticed a small crack at the bottom of the windshield. I reported it to the dealership since I purchased windshield repair coverage and the insurance company stated that I needed to contact the dealership since my vehicle wasn't in their system yet.

Windshield cracked. During a week of sub-freezing temperatures in January, the windshield cracked from the base of the windshield to the to the center point of the windshield (see photo submitted). Note: the windshield had had a very minor chip in it at the base of the windshield before the crack occurred.

I was driving to work and I was on the freeway and all of a sudden without a rock hitting my windshield, it started to crack. It might go bigger if I drive more and right now it is longer than 6 inches.

Windshield on this Subaru Forester cracked severely shortly after purchasing the car. This happened in the driveway while parked. Nothing hit the glass.

Was driving at highway speeds (65 MPH) and within the posted speed limit and a small, unidentifiably small object was kicked up by a car in the adjacent lane and hit the windshield, resulting in a small ding that immediately spread to a large crack across most of the windshield.

The windshield suddenly crack for no apparent reason. I inquire about this problem from the Subaru service department and I was told that its not covered by warranty. I found out from my own research that a lot of Forester owner have complain of the same issue.

For the 3rd time in less than 3 years my windshield crack from a small pebble hitting it. Either Subaru is making very thin windshield glass, or the material used is not sufficient to suppress small pebbles and causes the windshield to crack, often. The latest crack happened July 25, 2023 in the PM with a small 1/4 inch crack, by morning it had grown to over 2 feet.

We discovered a crack in the windshield this morning across the lower half of the passenger side. There was no sign of any impact, just the crack. The crack was not there when the vehicle was parked yesterday afternoon.

UNKNOWN - the windshield seems to have spontaneously cracked. It was parked overnight in an uncovered driveway, and now there is a large crack down the middle. There is no particular pattern to suggest impact (and regardless the driveway is not underneath any nearby trees or other structures).

I drove my car at lunchtime to get lunch and returned to work. There was no issue. Then less than 5 hours later when I left work around 5:30 pm and went to my car there was a large crack from the base of my windshield almost in the center.

I got in my car one day and noticed a crack going up through the middle of my windshield - about 10 inches and went all the way to the bottom edge of the glass. After traveling a short distance (15ish min) and leaving it parked for a couple of hours, I came back and it had now turned horizontally across the windshield maybe 4-6 inches toward the driver's side.

I was driving from Gainesville Georgia to Stuart Florida and all of the sudden the windshield cracked from the top upper left corner to about 6 inches down. It continued to crack for about 18 inches or so within the next 24 hours. I only had the vehicle since September, 2020.

I was driving on a highway cloverleaf on October 29 2021 when I heard a load popping sound in the windshield area. At the time it occurred the closest vehicle in front of me was a pickup truck several hundred yards ahead of me on the curve, so I was not inline with the rear of the vehicle.

I have noticed several cracks in the windshield of my 2020 subaru forester. I first noticed a small crack on the upper drivers side. I have now seen multiple cracks that do not appear to have an origination point of impact from an object.

1in to 2ft long cracks are being created across the windshield at the slightest impact of any small pebbles. Windshield is extremely easily compromised. Vehicle was in motion on the highway when a small pebble hit the windshield, instantly creating a 2ft long crack across it.

2020 forester with 2800 miles on odometer. Started car in 26 degree weather and saw a crack appear on passenger side of vehicle which then crept across horizontally to a length of approximately 18 inches as the vehicle warmed up with defroster on. I've had my 2020 subaru forester for under 3 months and I've put less than 900 miles on it, and yet I've somehow still hit 3 small rocks resulting in 3 chips to the windshield impacting visibility on the driver's side. Safelite filled the chips but they are still visible. I believe this is a result of the acoustic glass being more fragile or prone to chips and cracks.

Vehicle was parked in covered parking lot out of the sun. Air temp high 80s. The windshield developed a crack starting in the top middle descending to the middle where it curved towards the passenger side.

Vehicle was parked on the street overnight with no damage to the windshield. Next morning there was a crack from the edge of the passenger side to about a quarter of the length of the windshield. There is no impact marking on the windshield.

Large chip in windshield caused by nothing. This is the second chip in a 2 week period that is now causing the windshield to become questionable. I came out to the car in the morning which was garaged to find a large chip.

Driving the car on the highway from a relatives house, going approx 65 and was hit by something small, could not verify what it was, but presume it was a rock. Upon impact, it sounded like a gunshot, which scared everyone in the car. The damage took its toll on the windshield where it left a huge baseball size break and a smaller break above it.

Driving on a surface street at a constant speed of ~45 MPH, a small pebble flew into the windshield and created a crack which further expanded as a hairline crack which impairs vision through the windshield and can potentially cause problems with the eyesight safety features. At this speed, this incident should not cause a crack.

Night driving dark line across entire windshield cannot see road ahead of you unless ducking your head looking out sideways.

Vehicle was entering onto highway and a small pebble struck top middle of the windshield, caused a l shaped crack to form behind rear view mirror and extending to the left(inside view), about 10 - 15 in long. Walked out to garage this morning, and noticed the windshield is cracked. I am not aware of anything hitting the windshield, and the car has less than 3,000 miles on it, purchased in february 2020.

Driving on a road going about 30, wet around a corner a truck passed me going the opposite way. Kicking up a rock that hit my windshield and it cracked instantly, more than halfway to the passenger side

Windshield broke for no reason our car is only 2 months old car was in the garage

Windshield cracked by small pebble on 3rd day of lease of car. Driving approx. 30mph when car going only a little faster changed lanes and threw pebble.

There is a approximately 2 ft long windshield crack emanating from the lower driver's side and extending toward the center of windshield. The crack was noticed while driving but time of origin is unknown. A tiny rock chip is located a few inches from the start of the crack and seems inconsistent with the length of the crack, based on past experience with rock chips.

Front windshield on drivers side, upper portion, cracked for no apparent reason. Vehicle was travelling at approximately 40 MPH on an on-ramp to an interstate highway.

2020 subaru forester sport purchased new 3.5 months ago. Vehicle was driving along local highway when a rock hit the windshield. Immediately there was a 5 inch crack formed directly above the driver seat.

Had vehicle for less than one month and noticed a crack on windshield from top middle at rearview mirror level. Crack was 10-12 inches by end of day. Next day notice small chip on bottom of windshield.

On approximately 02/06/2020 I noticed a very small chip in my windshield. I assumed it was from a thrown stone, but I can't confirm that. On 02/12/2020, I parked the car in a long term parking lot near detroit metro airport.

My windshield cracked for no apparent reason. The crack began on the drivers side about midway up from the very left edge. I noticed it when I parked my car at my mothers house having driven one hour to get to her house.

We noticed a crack in the windshield that seemed to appear overnight. We had no memory of any sort of pebble impact. There was no divot in the windshield as far as we could see, just a crack of ~ 3 inches near the lower center of the front windshield.

I noticed 4 small chips in the windshield when I was drying my car off after washing it. I do half my driving on the highway and am assuming the chips are from debris being kicked up from the vehicle's in front of me. I have heard a few pings on the windshield but did not notice anything at the times it happened until taking a closer look after drying my car.

Windshield cracked from left to right side. This occurred when vehicle was stationary but winds were heavy in the area. Assumption is a small rock hit the windshield as I can see a minuscule chip where the crack starts on one side.

Owned new car less than a month and passanger noticed crack originating near bottom of glass middle passanger right side windshield. The crack grew to 8 inches that day. I have no recollection of a stone or object hitting and the location seems unlikely place.

Spontaneous crack in moonroof glass while parked in a garage. Little to no temperature fluctuations and no mechanical pressure (driving or opening the moonroof).

The windshield is chipping and only 8000 miles on the car. Do not tell me this is normal I've owned ten other cars and this has never happened.

February 5, 2020, just got in the car to start driving it and noticed the windshield cracked for no reason starting at the very bottom center and is about 8 inches long already. It was not there earlier in the day. It just appeared suddenly and could not see any rock chip in the area.

Driving on I-5 in seattle area, a rock from an SUV hit my windshield causing an immediate chip on the driver side of the windshield in the line of vision.

When the front windows are open and then closed they always come up from the inside of the door wet. This happens whether or not the car has recently been to the carwash/ its been raining outside/ or not. Condition has existed since I purchased vehicle.
