2018 Subaru Forester Wipers & Visibility Problems

A few days ago, a crack suddenly appeared in the windshield. It appeared when the car was parked in the garage. I reached out to SUbaru and they wanted me to take it to dealtership and get pictures taken.

Temperature dropped to -20 and large crack randomly appeared on driver side windshield. This crack has caused the eyesight safety feature to not work meaning I don’t have lane departure warning or forward collision warning. Informed my warranty does not cover the windshield repair or required camera recalibration.

I bought my 2018 Subaru Forester in may of 2020 it is now January of 2022 and I have replaced the entire windshield THREE TIMES. If requested, my vehicle can be inspected. It is clear that this windshield is too fragile and poses a safety risk for myself and those passengers that enter my vehicle.

The windshield cracked, the crack is growing from bottom passenger side and up, heading mid shield towards driver. No logical reason for crack. No rock chip market, no accident.

The windshield of my 2018 forester spontaneously cracked eight months after purchase while driving on I-25 eight months after purchase. There was no collision or impact that caused the crack. I had the windshield replaced by safelite autoglass on march 26, 2019.

I am writing again because I have another chip in my windshield. It looks like it is starting to crack; just like the last two times. It doesn't seem right that car insurance should have to cover a poor quality product.

Hello, I am writing to report an incident of a cracked windshield while driving on highway 5 in Los Angeles, CA. I have owned this vehicle for about 6 months. The vehicle is available for inspection and I have attached the photos for review.

On 10/9/2021the front windshield was hit by a small rock on the lower left driver's side and a crack developed within a few minutes. The crack grew and obstructed the driver's field of vision. This required the entire windshield being replaced.

In under two years, I have had to replace the windshield on my vehicle twice. The first time, a rock hit my windshield which caused a very small chip. The following afternoon, the chip had become a large crack the came down from the top of the windshield nearly halfway down the windshield.

On july 5, 2019, I had my windshield replaced after multiple cracks appeared on both the driver's side and the top-middle part. The driver's side crack was from debris that impacted it directly while driving on city streets. The additional crack at the top-middle part was unexplained as there was no impact on it by rocks or debris while driving.

While driving my 2018 subaru forester on a highway at 70 MPH, an 11.5" crack appeared in the windshield with no apparent cause of the damage. The crack extends from the edge of the glass horizontally. Close inspection revealed a chip about 3/8" from the edge of the windshield measuring no wider than 1/16".

A spontaneous crack in front windshield with no history or evidence of rock whip or damage occurred with brand new vehicle (130 miles), crack began at roof line in area immediately above the rearview mirror and extended below the "dot shading" around the rear view mirror. Glass repair person noted no evidence of damage, window was replaced and billed to my insurance.

Was driving along on the freeway on my way to work, heard a crack, but did not pay much attention. When I got to work, I saw a crack in the bottom part of the windshield approx 2inches in length. Windshield cracked starting in the black area under the driver's windshield wiper. Car was idling at a drive through, wipers were on. NOTE: car had fewer than 22,500k miles at the time, was likely around 22,485+.

The windshield cracked over half way across due to no apparent reason. Noticed it in the morning after vehicle had been parked in a protected area. The crack continued to get bigger over the next day and now covers over half of the windshield.

A small rock flew up and hit the windshield while driving on the highway, cracking the windshield. The windshield should be able to withstand the impact of a rock that small.

I have had to replace the windshield of my 2018 subaru forester (purchased new) two times in less than 3 years due to (minor) rock strikes (highway driving) in the lower quarter of the windshield. I now have a third cracked windshield. I have been driving for 45 years and I don't believe I have ever had to replace a windshield until I bought this car!

Windshield upper passenger side is cracked approx 12" overnight for no apparent reason. It was parked stationary in a covered garage.

Windshield has numerous cracks and chips from several events. It chips and cracks too easily. All events happened while in motion with speeds between 35 and 70 MPH.

A crack started in the lower passenger's side of the front windshield and has continued to move across to the driver's side in the middle of the windshield obstructing view. I noticed it while driving back from vicksburg, ms. It was under a lease and then I purchased it in march of 2021.

I was scraping ice off the windshield with a plastic/typical ice scraper and it shattered at the edge of the windshield on the driver side, which then caused a 5" crack which has continued to lengthen. The car was stationary in my driveway at the time.

Windshield broken too easily

The windshield developed a crack while I was sitting in a parking lot. It emanates from right above the driver side windshield wiper. There is no evidence of rock strike.

I join complainants with a subaru windshield crack. A crack mysteriously started at the base of my windshield on the passenger side. I don't recall anything hitting it, and there's no sign of any impact (ding, chip, nothing!).

Driving in a highway at around 45-50 MPH, heard a sound, and windshield was cracked for more than 12 inches long.

Windshield glass suddenly cracked on right side from the edge toward the left side. Crack is about 12" long. Windshield was not struck from rock or road debris.

After not driving my vehicle for 2 months due to covid I noticed I have a huge crack that grew by at least an inch a day whilst the car was in my garage. The crack started on the bottom black portion where it looks like it chipped (see photo) the windshield and has spidered from there. I have measured the crack daily with a chalk marker and the crack will soon be across the windshield.

2018 subaru forester, sitting at house undriven (stationary) for over a month due to stay at home order, developed a cracked windshield for no reason.

We have now had to replace the windshield twice. Both times, there was a crack originating from the bottom of the glass and coming up into the line of site. Both times, the crack occurred without an apparent rock hit or other issue.

I just read of a class action suit against subaru for defective windshields in late model foresters. We had to replace the windshield on our 2018 subaru forester in august of 2018. We came out of the house one day and noticed the crack in the windshield.

Windshield cracked while parked

Before entering freeway, at low speed, a crack appeared on the windshield. Seems to stem from the lower black strip on the windshield. There is a small impact point stemming from the black strip along the lower side of the windshield and the crack immediately grew to about 10'' vertically upward from that.

Windshield developed a linear crack after being struck by an empty wiper arm during the changing of a wiper blade. The crack grew from 6 inches on the first day to 14 inches on the second day.

Noticed small crack in windshield last tuesday, starting just above a clip on wiper. Assumed, at first it was dirty windshield from light rain & wiper use, but then saturday it moved about 6 inches mid day parked then halfway across driver side a couple of hours later parked. I have not been hit by anything big or small.
