Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Ram 2500 and 3500 Pickup vehicles equipped with six-speed automatic (68RFE) transmissions. A build up of pressure and heat inside the transmission may result in a transmission fluid leak from the dipstick tube.

While driving around 40mph the vehicle shifted from D to P by itself and the 4 way flashers turned on. I immediately turned the knob back to D and it corrected itself and went back to normal operation.

Transmission dipstick threw out of the truck while moving and causes transmission fluid to spray out and now the truck will not move. It’s throwing 2 codes for the 3rd and 5th gears malfunctioning. There is a recall on the transmission we were not notified about until we called the dealership to explain what happened.

At around 16000 miles the transmission began to slip and catch aggressively. RMPs would raise up to around 3000 before it slams into the next gear. Dealership stated they ran a computerized test and found no issues.

Randomly (maybe twice a month) when I am stopped at a light (vehicle in drive with brake on) my truck will suddenly surge forward. The dash will say "Shift to park to start", but the truck is already started and running with brake only on. It would be possible to hit someone or something if the brake isn't fully down. I have notified the dealership and they state "NO PROBLEM FOUND AT THIS TIME" when I had it in for service. They are saying I would need to leave my vehicle with them so they can try and replicate it. Being this does not always happen, my vehicle could be with them for a long period of time and not sure how they would replicate it without driving it all day for days/weeks on end. I have had this issue for over a year. I just took my vehicle in for a 30,000 mile service which included a throttle body service. This particular service has not remedied the issue (if it were something to do with that).

Went to cross a highway, started accelerating and about halfway across the road, the accelerator acted as if if just stopped working, and almost caused a collision with oncoming traffic. Managed to coast across the road, and get out of harms way. Tried to take off again and got to approximately 20mph and the accelerator stopped working again. Took off again and the truck seemed to be ok, then at random the accelerator would just stop working. Got it back home, until I get get it to a dealership.

The vehicle was placed into park and the "P" began flashing by when I stepped out of the vehicle it began moving backwards. I jumped into the vehicle and the gear selection showed the vehicle in reverse so I replaced the vehicle into park but the door struck an object which bent the door towards the front end of the vehicle damaging the hinges and the fender. Ram customer care was contacted and the vehicle was inspected at an authorized dealer who found no issue with the vehicle.

Unknown-transmission, available for inspection. Truck lost power getting onto interstate and would not go over 65. After stopping and starting again, truck would not shift out of 2nd, until it jerked.. once stopped again, transmission would not shift from park to drive until vehicle was turned off and restarted and bucked and jerked to side of road. Truck will be taken to dealer 10/14/22 to ram service center in Clyde Tx. Truck was inspected by auto nation waco Tx service center 9/17-9-24 with nothing found. There was a buck, then vehicle traveled for about 3 miles then lost allforward power and would go 50mph at 3000 rpm and trans temp rose to 227. Truck was parked and will have to be towed to service center in Clyde Tx

See dealer exhaust system exhaust required was on the display. This happened with me , wife, 2 year old and 6 year old in the truck. It just felt and sounded as if the truck dropped gears and slowed down in the middle of high traffic with big rigs on a busy interstate. I put on hazard immediately to warn the trucks behind me. Do to immediate loss of power and limp acceleration. As I tried to assess the situation safely and quickly as possible , I nearly got rear ended by several big rigs as they tried one by one to avoid me at the last second. Me and my family are safe but I am in shock still as we managed to get out of the way regained my composure to get my family safely off to the next ramp when traffic slowed to avoid having my family in high traffic danger. This issue is a severe danger to the general public and anyone in the road with this type of malfunction. I as so many other families who were in the same situation, stranded and barely avoided serious and substantial injuries and death. If this was due to the cp4 system, I would have these rigs of the road asap. I also had the dealership ,before, I left Nevada,to go and get my new concession trailer in Georgia had the fuel filters changed. The oil and filters changed, an update for the truck and asked and arranged for the new cpu unit to be installed. I also asked the dealership mechanic if it was advisable to drive out to Georgia to get my food truck and he said yes. I’m not sure if this is the issue, but my research point to this direction. There are forum on this. With stories like mine and the outrageous safety hazards this has caused. It is a defect that needs immediate action. This defect does not trump my family’s life or any other innocent lives. This puts me and my family out of a truck to get to Georgia to pull my concession trailer back home. We are literally stuck and stranded in Missouri. This defect has put me and my family in a vulnerable position which could be a serious hazard to us thanx

Wanted to explain what happened to the truck. Left the house as normal, pulled out of the driveway. Normal acceleration around 45mph, truck started to spit and sputter making loud knocking noises in the engine. Lost complete power. Truck shut off by itself. Was able to crank back up and drive it back home with vigorously vibrating and sputtering. I was only about 200 yards from my driveway when this happened. Truck is not driveable.

Vehicle has 26,689 mile and after driving for 30 minutes slowed came to a complete stop due to on coming traffic to make a left turn. Went down the road and the Transmission ( Auto) did not seem like it went in to 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 gear. The tach was over 3,000 RPMs and I let off the gas and pressed down again and tach went up again and transmission never shift to higher gear. Lucky that was my street and I tried to get it to shift by gas peddle up and down and it never went higher gear and I took tach up to 5,500 RPMs plus and it never tried to get out of third gear I guess.

THIS IS THE WORST TRUCK I'VE EVER PURCHASED, A SIMPLE FIX NEEDED TO THE PULLEY TENSIONER AND THE CLUTCH FAN IS NEEDED..BEEN TO DEALER TWICE GOING A 3RD TIME . THE FUEL PUMP CP4 IS A DANGER TO DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS AS THESE TRUCKS ARE MEANT FOR PULLING HEAVY LOADS AND MOSTLY ON INTERSTATES WHICH MAKES IT A DANGER. THE CP3 IS NEEDED BACK IN THE TRUCKS AS THERE IS A HORRIBLE FUEL PUMP CHATTER AT THIS POINT AND AN IMINANT FAILURE IS COMING SOON. ALSO THE TRUCK ROLLS IN PARK LIKE 5 FEET FOR NO REASON WHILE OFF IN PARK

ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2020, PURCHASED A VEHICLE AND TRADED IN A 2013 CHEV. ON 09/27 WE WERE DRIVING HOME ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 900 MILES.. ON 09/28 VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP( NOT PURCHASED FROM) IN WHICH NO ONE WOULD PAY TO HAVE TOWED. IT TOOK A WEEK TO BE TOLD A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. WAS GIVEN A RUN AROUND ON THE TIMEFRAME FOR REPAIR. CHRYSLER AND DEALERSHIP DECIDED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED. PROMISED TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION ON 10/14. CHRYSLER CALLED SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND STATED A TRANSMISSION WOULD BE EXPEDITED AND SHOULD ARRIVE ON 10/19. NO TRANSMISSION SHOWED UP. CHRYSLER STATED A 2ND TRANSMISSION WAS SHIPPED AND ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/28. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO US ON 10/30. ON 11/07 WE WERE STOPPED AT A DRIVE-THRU, TRIED TO PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE. WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. FINALLY SHIFTED BUT MADE A GRINDING SOUND THROUGH ALL GEARS. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON 11/10 DUE TO WINTER STORM AND WAS INFORMED ON 11/13 ANOTHER TRANSMISSION IS NEEDED. I HAVE BEEN TREATED VERY POORLY IN THIS SITUATION AND THIS HAS COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO MY BUSINESS AND NOT HAVING A TRUCK. NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE OR WILL HELP JUST BEING TOLD THESE THINGS TAKE TIME. VERY UNACCEPTABLE. REPEATEDLY TOLD MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF A RECALL BUT ON THE SERVICE PAPERWORK FOR THE 1ST TRANSMISSION, IT LISTS THE CAUSE AS RECALL.
