Your CVT transmission is slipping and jerking, and it sometimes won't move when you stop at a traffic light until you turn the ignition off and back on again. This causes you to hold up traffic for about 30 seconds at each stop, which creates a safety hazard for you and other drivers. Your Nissan dealership has diagnosed the issue as low transmission fluid pressure and a faulty pressure control solenoid. The fix will likely involve replacing the transmission fluid, solenoid, or potentially rebuilding the CVT transmission itself.

Your CVT transmission may not respond quickly enough when you need to change gears, especially when merging onto the highway. This delayed response could make acceleration feel sluggish or unresponsive when you need it. Your transmission fluid, filter, and solenoid components may need inspection or replacement to restore proper gear engagement.

Your 2014 Nissan Versa Note makes a noticeable noise when the engine runs between 1500-2000 RPM, which a mechanic indicated is a known issue with the CVT transmission. The mechanic warned that the transmission could fail suddenly without warning, which could compromise vehicle safety. Addressing this issue would likely require a complete transmission replacement.

Your exhaust heat shields, which protect your gas tank from excessive heat, may tear at the bolts and create a rattling sound. As the damage worsens, cracks develop in the thin metal shields, potentially leaving your gas tank inadequately protected from exhaust heat. The manufacturer may need to replace the heat shields with a more durable design or reinforce the bolt attachment points.

Your car has shut off while you were driving on two separate occasions. The first time, you had to put the car in park, restart it, and accelerate hard to get it moving again. After taking it to Nissan for repairs, the same problem happened again two days later when leaving a gas station, and your check engine light came back on. The repair will likely involve diagnosing the engine code with a scanner and addressing the underlying fuel system or engine issue that's causing the stalling.

When I was driving normally on a hot day(90 degree), in on and go traffic, the lights of Engine, brake, battery, power steering suddenly all lighted up and the Engine stalked any the same time without any warning. Brake, power steering, oil pedal all stopped working. At that time, the AC was not in use so it would not be a problem. I turned off the Engine, and turned on it again and everything worked normally again. I brought my car to check the battery, charging system, starting system. All good. Also, I check all fluid levels(brake, transmission, engine oil, coolant, window wash fluid) which were all normal. I am the first owner of the car. The car was well maintained and gently used, and only has 15,000 miles. The most recent oil change was two months ago and it was also inspected by the Nissan dealer that time without any problems. This is very dangerous for my family. That time I was driving in the heavy traffic on high way, when the engine stalked suddenly and my car lost power, my car was hit by a SUV behind me. I researched this problem online and found I was not alone. Many people experienced same thing as a Nissan Versa owner. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFrQBnIxyq8&ab_channel=KTNVChannel13LasVegas)

My car is not 10 years in and the car has started to force itself/ judders when I’m accelerating a bit on the street and freeway. It basically back tracts when I’m driving. I’m starting to not feel not safe in the car. I need my car to get to school and work. I took my car today to the mechanic and he told me the transmission is faulty which is causing the problem. He told me his other customers with same car are having those problems too.

My 2014 Nissan Versa has been acting strange after giving a family member a jump. Now my transmission seems to slip; I would put my foot on the gas and the rpm will sometimes be stuck at 3 for longer than normal. In addition, my back driver seat lock/latch stopped unlocking all of a sudden.

In February 2022, our 2014 Nissan Versa (which my husband purchased new in 2014) started to sputter and nearly stall upon acceleration. Today (3/14/2022) I visited Younger Nissan- a Nissan dealer in Frederick, MD where he purchased the car- for diagnosis and repair. They found that the car at 77,666 miles needs a completely new transmission, costing over $4000 in repairs. This is a critical safety issue. The car could have stalled at any speed, and there is no error or alarm shown on the car's dashboard indicating an issue. This is a product defect and with no warning or alarms there was no opportunity to fix or check the issue while under still under warranty. I have been driving this unsafe vehicle for several weeks, unaware that there was a critical safety issue for myself and other drivers- this is unacceptable! This is a known issue for Nissan. If you Google "2014 Nissan Versa transmission" you will find complaint after complaint- including a class action law suit- about this issue. It seems that Nissan knows and is trying to ignore this issue. I would appreciate if you looked into this issue with Nissan and their CVT transmission issues with their 2014 Nissan Versa models. I also plan to contact Nissan North America, the US Department of Transportation, the Maryland State Attorney General and possibly Small Claims Court about this issue. Please look into this so that myself and other drivers are not risking our lives driving these vehicles. I am happy to provide you with copies of my payments etc. once the car is fixed. I had to finance the majority of the repair cost as I am sure a large majority of other drivers have had to do as well. Thank you for any assistance and feedback.

Regarding my 2014 Nissan Versa Note, with "continuous variable (cone shaped) transmission": I first noticed the transmission issue beginning October of 2020. When accelerating quickly, it feels like the transmission FREEZES, so I back off the accelerator and it usually kicks back into gear. When my husband first experienced it, he told me to shift to neutral and back to drive which seems to work; however being on a public thoroughfare and manually shifting gears to keep moving forward seems like a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I have read several posts regarding this same issue. MY QUESTION IS: Why hasn't this American/Japanese automobile conglomerate addressed this SAFETY ISSUE WITH A TRANSMISSION RECALL?

Around 86999 miles car started jumping in the front and other times in the rear of car when going from park to reverse and also when I stop at a light or/and take off . Car jumps and makes a loud noise when it happens.Took to local Nissan dealer to check the problem and they told me “ nothing is wrong with your car, we didn’t notice any thing you mentioned “. This cost $159. This problem has worsened in the month since I went to Nissan repair place!

About a month ago the vehicle began shaking unexpectedly. The RPM started to go high when driving about 35 miles per hour. On the highway the RPM would go up to 5 or 6 and if it went down the car shook violently. At times I did not feel I would be able to keep control of the vehicle while on the highway. I stopped driving on the highway and I took the car to be seen by a mechanic. After allowing the mechanic to drive the vehicle I was informed the transmission was likely the problem and would need to be rebuilt. The mechanic suggested I take the vehicle to a transmission specialist. The transmission specialist said every CVT transmission from Nissan he has seen needs to be rebuilt and suggested I buy another car rather than pay $5,000.00 to have the transmission rebuilt. I called and spoke with Nissan. They said the warranty was no longer valid and they would charge $120.00 for a diagnostic plus the cost to fix the transmission. The vehicle is 7 years old and only has 87,000 miles on it. Prior to a month ago the vehicle had no issues. There has not been any visible indicator light to suggest the vehicle may need maintenance.

I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT HAS CAUSED NOT ONLY ME BUT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE PROBLEMS AS WELL. ONE OF THE BELTS IN THE TRANSMISSION IS SCREECHING AND CAUSING OTHER THINGS IN MY CAR TO NOT FUNCTION AS WELL. THIS IS NOT OKAY TO KNOW AND SELL A CAR WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT IS KNOWN TO FAIL SOON. I GOT THE CAR IS NOW AT 106,000 MILES. IT MAKES ME SCARED TO KNOW I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE CAR CAN GO AT ANY TIME.

WHILE DRIVING MY NISSAN VERSA I NEED TO LET IT WARM UP COMPLETELY. WHEN I SAY COMPLETELY I MEAN WAIT ABOUT 10-15 MIN BEFORE DRIVING OFF. IF I DO NOT MY CAR WILL STALL WHEN I PRESS THE BREAKS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY MANY TIMES. SOME TIMES IT DOESNT BUT NOW THAT IT IS COLDER WEATHER IT DOES IT MORE OFTEN. IF I DO LEAVE BEFORE IT WARMS UP I EXPECT IT TO STALL AT THE STOP SIGN, LIGHT, TURN, OR TRAFFIC. I USUALLY HAVE TO KICK IT INTO PARK TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. I WILL DO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL ITS WARMED UP. SOMETIMES IT WONT EVEN WANT TO WORK AGAIN UNTIL ITS WARMED UP SO SOMETIMES IM JUST STUCK IN TRAFFIC OR THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TODAY MY CAR DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES. I WORK ONLY ABOUT 7 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND IT STALLED 5 TIMES.

BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN 2014. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION STALLING AND SLIPPING ISSUES WITHIN TWO MONTHS. MY CAR STALLED OUT AND DIED ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WENT TO MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DID NOT FIX IT, NOR DO I THINK THEY EVEN LOOKED AT IT. MY CAR STALLS, SLIPS, GRINDS AND VIBRATES EVERY TIME I GAS IT. THERE HAVE BEEN A HANDFUL OF OTHER TIMES MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT AND DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET, WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR THREE YEARS AND I'VE BEEN TO MY DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES DURING WARRANTY AND AFTER WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE AND EACH TIME THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL FOR MY TRANSMISSION, IN WHICH I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR IT, AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED MONTHS AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. I'VE TRIED LOOKING THIS RECALL UP, AND I CANNOT FIND IT. PERHAPS THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED WHEN IT HAS NOT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR, AND I FEEL AS IF THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM IS ADDING TO THE LACK OF SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE.

I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN JANUARY OF 2014. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT SINCE. THE WHOLE MUFFLER SYSTEM FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON BACK NEEDS REPLACED. THAT INCLUDES THE RESONATOR AND THE MUFFLER AND THE PIPES. WHY? IT LASTED ONLY 3 1/2 YEARS WITH 51,000 MILES ON IT? THAT IS RIDICULOUS. I PAID CASH FOR THE CAR AND HAVE NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHAT KIND OF GARBAGE PARTS ARE THEY USING. I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND I KNOW WE GET ROAD SALT PROBLEMS BUT NOT IN 3 1/2 YEARS. HOW THIN IS THE METAL THEY USED? THERE IS NOT EVEN AN AFTERMARKET PART TO REPLACE THESE PARTS. WHAT A RIP OFF.

THE HEAT SHIELD COVERING THE EXHAUST UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES AND WAS REPLACED 2 TIMES. THE CRACKING OCCURS WHERE THE HEAT SHIELD IS HELD TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE BY SCREWS AND BOLTS. THE WASHERS AND BOLTS ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE PREDRILLED HOLES AND CAUSES STRESS FRACTURES AT THE HOLE. THIS CAUSES THE HEAT SHIELD TO COME LOOSE AND RATTLE AGAINST THE EXHAUST. THERE ARE OTHER MODELS WITH SIMILAR HEAT SHIELDS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE MATERIALS ARE THE SAME. THE RATTLE CAUSES DISTRACTED DRIVING AS WELL AS POSES A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IF THE ENTIRE UNIT WERE TO FALL OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT COULD CAUSE UNSAFE VEHICLE OPERATION OR HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE.

I LIVE IN ARIZONA. I HAD COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IN SOME HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS GETTING READY TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. AT THE POINT OF MAKING THE RIGHT TURN THE CAR DIED. I COULD NOT COMPLETE THE TURN. BASICALLY I STARTED TO HEAD INTO OTHER CARS THAT WERE MAKING A LEFT TURN WHICH WAS PERPENDICULAR TO MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ANY CARS AND AT THE SAME TIME WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BY ANY CARS. THE CAR ENDED UP IN THAT LEFT TURN LANE. WHEN THE CAR STOPPED I TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN WAITED A MINUTE OR TWO AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AGAIN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WHICH WAS A 1/2 MILE AWAY. IT WAS ABOUT 105 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR THIS TYPE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. I THINK ONE OF THE SERVICE BULLETINS MENTIONS EXACTLY WHAT I WENT THROUGH. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE ONE OR MORE PEOPLE WILL GET HURT OR DIE. I NEVER HAVE HAD ANY ISSUE REALLY OF ANY TYPE WITH THIS VEHICLE BEFORE. ALL THE MAINTENANCE WORK THAT IS NEEDED HAS BEEN DONE ON TIME. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY. I DID NOTICE PROBABLY 30 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING THAT THE CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. I KEPT THINKING I DIDN'T HAVE THE CAR IN THE CORRECT GEAR BUT I DID. THE CAR DURING THAT TIME SEEMED SLUGGISH.
