SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Nissan Murano, 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima, and 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18V-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Nissan Murano, 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017-2018 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.

Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the serial number on the ABS actuator, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 29, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: When brake fluid has leaked onto the circuit board, the ABS warning lamp will remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up. If this occurs, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

The stop lamp switch has become contaminated with silicon off-gassing from silicon-based grease used in surrounding components in close proximity. This is causing the car to not start, not able to switch gears, and break light is not turning on.

TEN MINUTES AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP ABS WARNING LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON AGAIN AND CONTINUE TO COME ON, NOT EVERY TRIP, BUT SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK. OBVIOUSLY, THE REPAIR HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS SAFETY ISSUE COMPLETELY. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 47,000 MILES ON IT. *JS

CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE HAVING RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL WHILE THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE DEALER DECLINED HONOR THE DEAL STATING THAT THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER WAS LEFT WITH THE BILL FOR THE RENTAL. *JS

THE CONTACT CALLED FUTURE NISSAN OF ROSEVILLE (600 AUTOMALL DR, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661, (916) 547-2242) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I KEEP GETTING A WARNING FLASHES ON THE DASHBOARD TO INDICATE THE PROBLEM: 'FRONT RADAR UNAVAILABLE DUE TO OBSTRUCTION.' THE SENSOR FREQUENTLY DEACTIVATE ITSELF, DISABLING CRUISE CONTROL AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THE SYMBOL LOOKS LIKE A CRASH IS GOING TO HAPPEN. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION AND NO OTHER CARS ARE AROUND, AND WHILE OTHER CARS ARE AROUND AND ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HAD TO SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UNITED NISSAN (3025 E, NV-589, LAS VEGAS, NV 89104, (702) 832-5480) WHERE THE ECM, IVP, AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER OVER FIVE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE. A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,435.

A WARNING FLASHES ON THE DASHBOARD TO INDICATE THE PROBLEM: FRONT RADAR UNAVAILABLE. IN MY VIEW THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM IS UNRELIABLE. A RECALL AND A FIX SHOULD BE ORDERED.
