Defective headlamps that delaminate and result in dimming of the low beam headlights. Driving at night is hazardous. My car failed headlight inspection at dealership on 5/07/22. Claimed that my car was not reflected in the system as one eligible for free replacement under the class action lawsuit depsite the fact I followed all instructions. Furthermore the dealerships do not have the headlights in stock and are on backorder. They cannot give a date when they will be in. And the cost is $1400!!!!! I fear this car and other Nissan cars with dimming headlights are accidents waiting to happen. I limit my driving at night and use high beams when possible. I am a senior citizen with vision issues. I been trying to fix my vehicle recalls at my nearest location but they just don't got the time to work on my car, i experienced a terrible situation when i was driving on the freeway back from Los Angeles my hood opened i thank good i was driving less than 65mph with a few cars around me and my reactions was not too panic and slowly looking in all directions was able too pull aside of the freeway and closed the hood, I had family in my car and I just thank god nothing major happened I just can't imagine how terrible the situation could of end for my family and mine if i would of been going faster and not paying attention we could of lost our lives , i really do not feel safe at all driving this vehicle with my family anymore but this is our only transportation , I honestly want Nissan to upgrade me a new car i do not feel safe at all even after you guys fix it , I do not want to risk a similar situation again pleas contact me at [XXX]. DEFECTIVE LOW -BEAM HEADLIGHT WHILE DRIVEING THE VEHICLE YOU CANNOT SEE ANYTHING AND FRONT OF YOU. LOOK LIKE THE HEADLIGHTS ARE FACING THE GROUND . YOU WOULD HAVE TO TURN ON THE HIGH BEAM HEAD LIGHT IN ORDER TO SEE A SAFE DISTANCE AHEAD .THE DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHT MAY BE INADEQUATE TO MEET STATE AND FEDERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THEY INFORM ME TO TAKE THE CARE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND GET IT LOOK AT THE FILE A CLAIM. I HAVE DONE BOTH STILL NO RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE ,ALSO I HAVE RESEARCH ONLINE IN A LOT OF CUSTOMER HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2013 -2017 NISSAN ALTIMA LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ISSUES NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT ONLY THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS PROVIDE EXTRA SIGHT TO SEE AHEAD . IN CONCLUSION I HAVE HAD THE HEADLIGHT CHANGED AS WELL THIS THE ISSUE HAVEN'T BEEN RESOLVED .
I UNDERSTAND AND AM EXPERIENCING A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH DIM HEADLIGHTS THAT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY ALTIMAS. THE HEAD LIGHTS ARE SO DIM NOW THAT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD UNDER NORMAL NIGHT DRIVING CONDITIONS, AND IT IS MAGNIFIED DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. I AM ALSO VERY CONCERNED THAT I'M NOT GOING TO SEE SOMEONE CROSSING THE ROAD WHICH I ENCOUNTERED, AND LUCKILY THE PERSON HAD REACHED THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD AS I WAS JUST ABOUT TO ENTER THE CROSSWALK! THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE TO ALL DRIVERS OF ALTIMAS, THEIR PASSENGERS AND PEDESTRIANS. AS I HADN'T EXPECTED THIS PROBLEM I REALLY WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION TO IT UNTIL I READ AN ARTICLE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE OF WHICH I AM CONFUSED AS TO WHY IT HAS NOT YET BEEN ADDRESSED. POOR VISIBILITY: WHEN SUNLIGHT OR ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS STRIKES THE WINDSHIELD AT ABOUT 40 TO 60 DEGREES, IT PREVENTS GOOD VISIBILITY, SPECIALLY WHEN ENTERING MY GARAGE. THE PROBLEM BECOMES WORSE AND UNDER RAINY-FOGGY CONDITIONS. MAKING VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD AND THE SIGNS, SPITE OF USING THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS AND THE DEFOGGER TO THE MAX. I WENT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM; I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD. I SENT A LETTER ON 7/24/16 TO NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA TO NOTIFY THEM OF THIS PROBLEM. NO WRITTEN RESPONSE GIVEN; A CLERK OR SECRETARY CALLED ME TO TELL ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME AGAIN THERE IN NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD. ON AUGUST 30TH, 2016 WHILE DRIVING WITH 2 PASSENGERS, THE POOR VISIBILITY OF THE WINDSHIELD PUT US IN SERIOUS RISK OF CRASH AT AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS IMMEDIATE CORRECTION, BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX 65 MPH, WAS STARTLED BY LARGE BOOMING CRASH FROM ROOF OF MY CAR. UPON PULLING OVER AND EXAMINING IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT HITTING THE SUNROOF, AND NO OTHER AUTOMOBILE HAD BEEN IN CLOSE ENOUGH PROXIMITY TO FLIP UP A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THEY HAVE HAD A HANDFUL OF OTHER PEOPLE COME IN WITH UNEXPLAINED SHATTERING OF SUNROOFS.
WINDSHIELD HAS SCRATCHES THAT MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. TOOK CAR TO DEALER TO CLAIM UNDER 3-YEAR "BUMPER-TO-BUMPER" WARRANTY & EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT THAT DEALER CLAIMED AT TIME OF PURCHASE WOULD COVER ALL PROBLEMS. DEALER CLAIMED THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER EITHER WARRANTY. WARRANTIES ARE TOTALLY BOGUS.
CRACKED 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA WINDSHIELD. PARKED IN DRIVEWAY UNDER A CARPORT.CRACK STARTED FROM WHERE THE HOOD MEETS MIDDLE WINDSHIELD. FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF SPONTANEOUS CRACKING OF WINDSHIELDS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THEN THE SUN ROOF GLASS SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE SUN ROOF WAS CLOSED AND THAT THERE WAS NO IMPACT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF THE TRACK WAS OFF OR IF THE SEALS FAILED ASSOCIATED WITH THE GLASS FRACTURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON OPENING THE SUN ROOF, THE GLASS WAS ALREADY FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,500.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND CONTINUED TO PROPAGATE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN NEW YORK, I SUDDENLY HEARD A POP, AND REALIZED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE CRACK IS ABOUT 10 INCHES LONG, AND STARTS AT THE VERY EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, GOING TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF IT. THERE WAS NO IMPACT, NO GRAVEL, NO ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE NO CHIPS, AND NO PLACE OF IMPACT, THE CRACK APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE. CALLED THE DEALER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE WINDSHIELD UNDER WARRANTY, AND ADVISED ME TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR
THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTS OFF OF THE BEIGE AND GLOSSY BLACK INTERIOR FINISHES AND CAUSES A MIRROR IMAGE OF THE INTERIOR SURFACES/GLARE ONTO THE FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELDS. THE GLARE ON THE GLASS IS VERY BRIGHT AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND TRAFFIC SIGNS AS WELL AS ANY OTHER OBJECT IN THE GLARE ZONE. THE GLARE ZONE RANGES BETWEEN 20 TO 50% OF THE WINDSHIELD AREA. THIS DESIGN FAULT WAS CORRECTED IN OTHER NISSAN CARS BUT NOT IN THE ALTIMA. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS ADVISED "NO CORRECTION CAN BE MADE AT THIS TIME". *TR
