The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Carbon like smell entering cabin, engine stalling, and check engine light on. Ginn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Covington Georgia stated they performed the recall repairs for the fuel relay wiring harness in June 2022 and the brake booster recall fix last week. The break booster recall is still showing unrepaired, and the stalling, fumes entering the inside of the Jeep is worse. The Jeep did not have a check engine light show up until after it left the CDJR service center. Due to dispute with the dealership that sold the vehicle putting an extended warranty in the paperwork, that I was not provided in writing yet its cost was added to the Jeep, the CDJR service center claimed the Jeep required $5700 worth of work to its HEMI V8 5.7L engine but they could not begin the work until I consented to the warranty providers $450.00 fee to teardown the engine for further diagnostics. I could not consent to something I was not provided it writing, so the Ginn CDJR refused to move forward and claimed they performed the last recall repair. They have refused to provide repair records and invoices. They also stated the Jeep is "driveable" when notifying me they would not fix it. Three weeks prior, as it was in their service center for three weeks, the service center instructed me not to drive it.

Recall 14V5300 - replacing fuel pump relay to prevent vehicle not starting and stalling was performed in November 2021. It has not solved the problem. Th Grand Cherokee still does the same thing. I replaced the relay that was replaced in the recall. No help. Chrysler Corp. did not fix the problem. A new recall needs to happen. This Grand Cherokee has stalled slowing down to come to a stop and when slowing down to turn at an intersection. This is very dangerous. It could cause an accident at the intersection. My vehicle has been leaking transmission fluid, this has caused shifting problems as well as ac problems i have done hours of research and its seems to be a common problem with 2011 jeep cherokee and i feel this need to be investigated! From what Ive read there seems to be welding issues and thats where the leaks are at. I have taken my vehicle for an inspection and the ac condensor needs to be replaced. I have taken for a second opinion and the same was discovered. After $750.00 later! I have grandchildren that i drive in this vehicle and am concerned about their safety as well as mine.

I AM TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER REFUSE TO REPAIR/REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND, THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING, THE JEEP JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THANK GOD IT WAS NOT A BUSY TIME OF DAY . I WAS TOLD THERE WAS ONLY 1 OWNER WHEN I BOUGHT IT, AND I KEPT THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES, WAS ALWAYS TOLD SEALED TRANSMISSION. TOWED TO HOME THEN 2 WEEKS LATER TOWED TO DAN HEMM GMC JEEP WHERE IT STILL SITS BECAUSE THEY WANT 4800 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND I AM ON DISABILITY AND DONT HAVE IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY, THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY, AND THE PCM. THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY WAS EXTREMELY WARM INTERNALLY, WHICH AFFECTED THE PCM. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF DURING THE REPAIR TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE PCM INTERNAL VOLTAGE SHORTAGE. I HAD TO RUN SEVERAL STEPS AND DIVE INTO THE CAR AND PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN WITH MY LEFT HAND AND SHIFT IT INTO PARK WITH MY RIGHT HAND. THE PARKING LOT WAS FULL OF PEOPLE INCLUDING MANY CHILDREN. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND OTHER 2011-2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WITH THE SAME LEAK, ON THE SAME PART, AT THE SAME LOCATION ON THE PART, AROUND THE SAME MILES. CHRYSLER BELIEVES THIS IS NORMAL TO HAVE THE PART FAIL EVEN THOUGH IT IS FAILING BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION OR A/C EVEN REQUIRE SERVICING. I DISAGREE BECAUSE MY OTHER VEHICLE HAS 297,000 MILES AND HAS THE SAME CONDENSER FROM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. TIPM- I WENT TO START MY JEEP THIS MORNING THAT FELT LIKE A WEAK START UP, IT THEN HICCUPED AND DIED. THINKING IT MAYBE JUST A ONE TIME INCIDENT, TRIED AGAIN, WITH THE RESULT OF THE STARTER JUST CRANKING FOR ABOUT 5-6 SECONDS. THIS REPEATED MULTIPLE MORE TIMES BEFORE I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BAD FUEL PUMPS, AND THE COST TO REPLACE WAS $1600. THIS PROMPTED ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK IF THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE. AFTER EXPLAINING THE ISSUE AT HAND, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT HE DOESN'T BELIEVE THE ISSUE TO BE CAUSED BY FAULTY PUMPS, BUT FROM THE TIPM. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB AND FOUND THIS TO BE A PRETTY PREVALENT ISSUE AMONGST OWNERS OF THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. WHEN I CALLED HIM BACK TO SEE IF THE BACKORDER ISSUES WERE TRUE, HE TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE AROUND THREE WEEKS TO GET THE PART. I IMMEDIATELY ASKED FOR THE JEEP CORPORATE NUMBER, CALLED THEM, AND BEGAN TO SPEAK TO A GUY ABOUT IT THERE. HE TOLD ME THAT THE PRODUCTION RATE WAS ONE PER 7 DAYS... AND THAT COUPLED WITH THERE ARE TONS OF THESE CASES OUT THERE IS WHY IT WAS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE TO GET THE PART. HE WENT ON TO TELL ME THAT SOUNDS CRAZY, BUT ITS JUST HOW FAST, (OR SLOW) THEY ARE PRODUCING THEM. I ASKED IF THE NEW PRODUCT WAS A REPLICA OF THE ORIGINAL AND HE SAID THIS IS A SOLUTION FOR THE PREVIOUS ONE AND WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT JUST A BANDAID. HE ADVISED ME TO HAVE IT FIXED AND HOPE THE RECALL COMES AND I WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REIMBURSEMENT. TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) LOW, SUDDENLY, ACCOMPANIED BY A CLUNK AND CHANGE IN VEHICLE SPEED FROM DOWNSHIFTING. LIGHTS CAME ONE IN THE DASH INDICATING LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL AND 4WD SERVICE NEEDED. THIS EVENT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING UNTIL WE MADE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. SINCE DOWNSHIFTING INTO 4WD LOW OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL ROADWAY OPERATING SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY 20-40 MPH) IT CERTAINLY FELT LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE, COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT TRACTION CONTROL WAS LOST AS A RESULT. ONCE BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND WHILE THE TRANSFER CASE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DUE TO THIS NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLE WE NO LONGER FELT SAFE DRIVING IT, AND ENDED UP TRADING IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST A FEW WEEKS AFTER GETTING IT BACK FROM THE SHOP.

WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 0 TO 5 MILES PER HOUR I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE THE AUTO WAS EITHER ON LEVEL SURFACE OR AT THE BEGINNING OF A SMALL INCLINE THE AUTO DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. THEN I SHIFTED THE AUTO INTO REVERSE AND STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE AUTO DID NOT MOVE BACKWARDS. I THEN TURNED THE AUTO OFF WITH THE AUTO SHIFTED INTO PARK. THEN I RESTARTED THE AUTO AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE AUTO DID MOVE FORWARD. THE SAME DAY I BROUGHT THE AUTO INTO THE JEEP DEALER WHOM I LEASED THE AUTO FROM JUST FIVE DAYS EARLIER, TO IDENTIFY AND FIX THE DEFECT CAUSING THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEM. ON MONDAY 11/8/10 THE DEALER INFORMED ME THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DEFECT WHICH CAUSED THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEM ON 11/6/10 COULD CAUSE REOCCURRENCE(S) OF THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEM (EVEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS)
