Your speedometer and odometer don't work, and your car won't start or turn over—the engine won't crank at all. You're also experiencing constant alarm activation that you had to disable by disconnecting the horn and pulling a relay. The anti-theft system appears to be activated, and based on your research, the wireless control module or Sentry key immobilizer system may be the underlying cause. This will likely require professional diagnostic work and possible replacement of the immobilizer control module or key fob receiver unit.

Your ignition key gets stuck and won't come out of the ignition switch. While your vehicle starts normally, it won't shut off properly because the key is trapped inside. You may have to wait several hours before the key finally releases and you can turn off the vehicle completely. The fix will likely involve replacing or repairing the ignition switch assembly.

Your passenger mirror has become cloudy due to the automatic defroster mechanism, which caused it to fail state safety inspection. The cloudiness has developed over several years and isn't from any accident damage. Replacing the mirror will likely cost around $500.

FOB FALLING OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH. CAR WAS IN DRIVE BUT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN AS WAS STOPPED AT GATE WHICH WAS OPENING. WHEN FOB FELL OUT ENGINE STOPPED. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. THE DESCRIBED WAS THE MOST RECENT. VERY DSNGEROUS. WE PLAN TO TAKE IT TO DEALER.
DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BOTH (AT DIFFERENT TIMES) JUST BROKE FOR NO REASON AND STARTED CRUMBLING IN PIECES. IT STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I ASKED ABOUT IT AT OUR DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR ANYTHING. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY JEEP CHEROKEES HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THIS COMMON PROBLEM. MY HANDLES HAVE GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I AM AFRAID OF THE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY AND I NOW. OF COURSE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AS WE WERE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN BOTH OF THE HANDLES DID THIS.
DRIVING 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. RIGHT FRONT TIRE INSTANTLY WENT FLAT PRECEEDED BY A LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR. AUTO CLUB INSTALLED SPARE AND NOTED THAT THE TIRE VALVE (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WHEEL SENSOR) WAS GONE. TIRE DEALER CHECKED TIRE (NOW DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR) AND FOUND THE PRESSURE SENSOR FELL INTO THE WHEEL BECAUSE THE THREADED NUT THAT HOLDS THE SENSOR IN PLACE FAILED AND SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. INSPECTION OF SENSOR ASSEMBLY SHOWED CLEAR EVIDENCE OF SEVERE CORROSION TO THE THREADS WHICH ALLOWED RETAINING NUT TO SEPARATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. INSPECTION BY TIRE DEALER OF ALL OTHER WHEELS SHOWED SIMILAR CONDITION. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED BY JEEP DEALER SHOPS, DRIVEN PRIMARILY IN NY STATE. THIS ISSUE IS WORSE THAN DRIVING ON LOW PRESSURE TIRES AS IT OCCURS CATASTROPHICALLY. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE IS 100% OEM (NO DISSIMILAR METALS IN USE). CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO INDICATION FROM MANUFACTURER OF THIS DEFECT OR SUGGESTED PREVENTATIVE ACTIONS.
The paint on your roof is peeling off, which is unusual since you haven't experienced this problem on previous vehicles. This is a cosmetic issue that will require professional repainting to fix.
