THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE STARTER AND BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED PALMEN MOTORS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM 5431 75TH ST, KENOSHA, WI 53142 (262) 671-1935 BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO GALEANA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (14375 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33912, (239) 481-2600) WHERE THE STARTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,208. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING, THE CEL AND ETC LIGHTS GO ON LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED THE CEL AND ETC REMAIN ON BUT CAR HAS POWER TO DRIVE. OFTEN TIMES AFTER SITTING OFF FOR PERIOD OF TIME THE LIGHTS MAY BE OFF BUT CAR MAY SHUT DOWN AGAIN AFTER DRIVING A SHORT , SOMETIMES LONG, DISTANCE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MERCEDES-BENZ 3.0 CRD ENGINE IN THIS MODEL JEEP. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM.
JEEP STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WILL NOT RESTART UNLESS THE KEY IS REMOVED THEN PUT BACK IN AND TURNED ON. IT HAPPENS IN DRIVE ON ANY ROAD WAY. TURNING, IN PARK, AND IN REVERSE. HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 70 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES.
BOUGHT USED 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IT STALLS FOR NO REASON. TWICE I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER BUT 2 DAYS AGO IT STALLED ON A WARM DAY IN THICK TRAFFIC AND HAD A VERY HARD TIME GETTING TO A PARKING LOT, DUE TO NO STEERING, ETC. TALKED TO MECHANIC TWICE ABOUT PROBLEM AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE IT OUT. CHATTED WITH JEEP CORPORATION ON THEIR CHAT LINE. THEY ONLY SUGGESTED THAT I GO TO JEEP DEALER (REALLY EXPENSIVE) AND IF THERE ARE ANY REPAIRS, KEEP A RECEIPT IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM - A PROBLEM WHICH HAS OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OF THEIR OTHER CAR MODELS.
THE VEHICLE FAILS TO START UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONDITION APPEARS TO BE INTERMITTANT OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, AND CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES FOR THE MOTORIST, SHOULD THE INABILITY TO RE-START THE VEHICLE OCCUR WHEN LOCATED IN A REMOTE AREA WHERE HELP IS NOT AVAILABLE. THERE HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE COMPLAINTS BY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND SIMILAR YEAR JEEPS POSTED THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET ON RELATED VARIOUS FORUMS. THE GENERAL IMPLICATION IS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT FOR SOME REASON IS NOT ABLE TO OFFER A SOLUTION. THIS HAS CAUSED UNDUE BURDEN ON THE CONSUMER, IN ADDITION TO COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH INEFFECTIVE REPAIRS WHETHER PERFORMED BY CERTIFIED CHRYSLER DEALER REPAIR STATIONS OR INDEPENDENT REPAIR ENTITIES. STORIES OF MOTORISTS BEING STRANDED AND SUBJECTED TO INSECURE SITUATIONS OR FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR VEHICLES AND FINDING ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF GETTING HOME OR TO A SAFE PLACE ARE NOT UNCOMMON. I URGE THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE HOW EXTENSIVE THIS ISSUE OF FAILING JEEP IGNITION SYSTEMS IS, AND TO FORCE CHRYSLER/FIAT CORPORATION TO INITIATE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I WAS DRIVING 15 TO 20 MINUTES FROM HOME AND MY CHECK ENGINE CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL GAS STATION (25 YRS RELATIONSHIP) AND THE CAR STALLED WHILE CLOSE TO THE STATION LOSING ALL STEERING POWER. THE OWNER TOOK A LOOK AND SAID GIVE ME 24HRS TO DIAGNOSE. THE NEXT DAY HE SHOWED ME WHAT HAPPENED....THE WATER-PUMP INTERNAL BEARING HAS BROKEN CAUSING THE SHAFT TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH CAUSING THE INTERNAL WATER-PUMP FLYWHEEL TO BREAK APART. THIS CAUSED THE WATER PUMP TO DUMP ALL THE COOLANT ON THE GROUND WITHIN 15 TO 20 MINUTES. FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS THE ENGINE SEIZED DUE TO LACK OF COOLANT PUMPING THRU THE ENGINE. A NEW ENGINE WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION. I CAN UNDERSTAND THE WATER-PUMP HAVING MINOR LEAKS WITH GRADUAL LEAKAGE ...THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BY THE PUDDLES UNDER THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE RAPID DRAINAGE I EXPERIENCED. I REACH OUT TO JEEP HOTLINE.... TOLD THE STORY AND WAS WILLING TO PROVIDE PHOTOS AND PHYSICAL PARTS FOR THEIR QA AND RD DEPARTMENT TO EVALUATE FOR DESIGN FLAW. THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED AND TOLD ME SORRY OUT OF WARRANTY...AND GAVE ME NO SUPPORT OR DIRECTIONS TO SEND PHOTOS OR PHYSICAL PARTS. CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF FOR UNKNOWN REASON. SO FAR ONLY WHILE STATIONARY IN TRAFFIC .IDLE RPMS DROP SUDDENLY CAUSING CAR TO STALL. VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED NO LIGHTS OR CODE INDICATIONS .HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES OVER 3 MONTHS DEALER CLEANED FUEL SYSTEM. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, STEAM EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO FLAMES VISIBLE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE RADIATOR THAT CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE CLIP THAT CONNECTED THE SOLENOID TO THE STARTER BECAME DETACHED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUSH THE CLIP BACK ONTO THE SOLENOID IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BURNS TO HIS HAND THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER WIRING HARNESS AND CLIP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WENT TO GET IN MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AND IT WOULDN'T START. I ASSUMED IT WAS JUST A BATTERY. SO I CALLED AAA TO JUMP ME. HE ADVISED THAT YOUR KEY SHOULD NOT WIGGLE WHEN IN THE IGNITION. HE WAS 90% SURE THAT WAS THE CAUSE FOR MY BATTERY ISSUE. HE JUMPED ME SO I COULD GET TO THE GARAGE TO HAVE IT TESTED TO SEE IF IT WAS A BATTERY OR ANOTHER ISSUE BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE BATTERY IF THAT IS THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT WOULD DRAIN IT AGAIN. I WENT .8 OF A MILE AND WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH AND IT WENT DEAD. CALLED AGAIN TO GET JUMPED. I WENT 5 FEET AND IT STALED OUT AGAIN. HE HAD ME TOWED TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE HE THINKS IT IS PART OF THE RECALL. WENT TO DEALERSHIP, THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A LOANER AND TOLD ME IF PART OF RECALL IT WOULD TAKE 3-4 WEEKS TO GET THE PART. I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER CAR. NEXT DAY CALLED ON IT AND EVENTUALLY WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE IGNITION RECALL BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE BATTERY. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT BECAUSE IT WAS DRAINED BECAUSE OF THE PRODUCT RECALL. NEXT DAY- DROVE 15 MILES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT BACK AND THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. I DIDN'T GET THE NOTICE OF RECALL UNTIL 08/24/15 AT 3:00 IN THE MAIL. IT WAS RELEASED IN 2014, WHY AM I JUST GETTING IT NOW. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IN IT BECAUSE OF THIS RECALL. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT JUST STOPPED, I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THERE IS SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH THESE JEEPS AND THE WAY PEOPLE SEND OUT THESE RECALLS.
I WAS NOTIFIED OF A RECALL DATED 11/10/14, NUMBER 957 NHTSA 14V-567. I WAS ADVISED THE PART REQUIRED WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE LOOKED THIS RECALL UP ON YOUR WEBSITE AND THE STATUS STATES THAT NO REMEDY IS AVAILABLE, SEVEN MONTHS LATER! ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTICE, THIS COULD "INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS", "THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF VEHICLE OCCUPANT INJURY DURING A CRASH". I DID CONTACT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD NO INFORMATION TO PROVIDE AND I ALSO HAD MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED FOR THIS ISSUE ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO WITH NO ISSUE IDENTIFIED BY RIVERSIDE AUTO GROUP IN MARINETTE, WI. I ALSO CALLED CHRYSLER AT 800-853-1403 AND THEY HAD NO UPDATE ON THIS ISSUE OR ANY IDEA WHEN THIS RECALL WOULD OCCUR TO FIX THIS ISSUE. SAME KEY/ SAME PROBLEM, BUT NOT UNDER RECALL? THEY IMPLIED, IF UNDER RECALL MIGHT BE ABLE TO CREDIT $106 BACK. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON AUGUST 13, 2014 FROM DICK SCOTT DODGE USED VEHICLE DEPARTMENT. IN JANUARY 2015, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DICK SCOTT DODGE. THE STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. TODAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED YET AGAIN TO DICK SCOTT DODGE FOR REPAIR. THERE IS A PENDING RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE. ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS STARVING FOR FUEL. HAD PROPER FUEL IN IT AND WAS SUFFICIENT. TERRIBLE KNOCKING AND LUNGING ACTION WHILE DRIVING CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY. *TR

NO START ISSUE - THIS IS DEFINED AS TURNING THE KEY TO THE START POSITION BUT WOULD NOT CRANK. FUEL PUMP WOULD TURN ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE FINE. BATTERY WAS FULL STRENGTH. IN ALL OF THESE CASES, THE CAR WOULD START UP WITHOUT A PROBLEM WITHIN 24-48 HOURS AFTER THE NO-START INCIDENTS. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION RELATES TO A "NO START" ISSUE. (WHEN DECELERATING TO EXIT THE FREEWAY OR DECELERATING TO STOP IN TRAFFIC). THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST ENCOUNTERED AT 14K MILES AND PERSISTS TO DATE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ACCRUED 46K MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON 5 OCCASIONS FOR DIAGNOSIS/REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO FAULT CODES ARE STORED IN THE ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM MEMORY. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED FOR ASSISTANCE TO NO AVAIL. THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE MERELY CONTACTED THE SERVICING DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO DRIVEABILITY ISSUES EXIST WITH THE VEHICLE. I NOTE THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING IN TRAFFIC AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT 4/22/2011 (CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS ADVISED). THIS CONDITION IS UNSAFE AS STEERING AND BRAKING SYSTEMS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY DEGRADED WITHOUT POWER ASSIST.

MY 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS LOST POWER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, EACH TIME BEING ABOUT A WEEK APART. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 70 MPH AND I NOTICED ALL OF MY CONTROLS HAD GONE BLACK, I HAD NO ODOMETER, NO RADIO, NO A/C, MY CAR HAD COMPLETELY LOST POWER. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THE SECOND TIME WAS PULLING OUT OF A STORE PARKING LOT, CROSSING TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 10-15 MPH. AGAIN, I LOST POWER BUT WAS STILL ABLE TO COME TO A STOP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. AFTER THIS, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES ON MY CAR. AS I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP AND STOPPED ATA RED LIGHT DOWN THE STREET, I AGAIN LOST POWER. THIS TIME I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED AND THEN BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. AGAIN, THEY DID NOTHING. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR DID NOT SHOW UP WITH ANY OUTSTANDING RECALLS, HOWEVER I DID SEE A RECALL ON MY MODEL YEAR FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART DIDN'T WORK. SEEMS LIKE IT SHUT DOWN ELECTRICALLY AND WAS NOT GETTING GAS ADEQUATELY. SEEMS TO LACK ADEQUATE POWER. WHEN ENGINE SHUTS DOWN YOU LOSE THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IF IT WERE TO STALL WHILE MAKING AN ABRUPT TURN IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY. TRUCK HAS BEEN WITH THE DEALER NOW FOR A WEEK AND IT HAS THEM "BAFFLED". THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IS NOT LOGGING ANY MALFUNCTION RELATED TO THE STALL. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE TRUCK YOU NEED TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WITH THE AUTOMOBILE COMING TO A VERY LONG AND SLOW STOP WHITE TRYING TO MANEUVER THE AUTOMOBILE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP THE MOTOR WAS STILL AT AN EXTREME "RPM" LEVEL. THE MOTOR WAS TURNED OFF AT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE ENGINE FINALLY STOPPED RUNNING. AFTER SITTING AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR SOMETIME THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO A SAFE LOCATION WHERE THE DRIVER LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR AN HOUR OR TWO AND RESTARTED FOR THE FINAL DRIVE HOME(ABOUT FIVE MILES). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY. THE DEALER RAN A SCAN ON THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE EVENT OCCURRED AS STATED. THE DEALER CONSULTED CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER AND WERE RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE AND BRAKE MODULES FOR THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND BRAKING PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE PARTS ARE AT THE DEALER WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY THE DEALER AND THE CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WAS READY. WHEN THE CUSTOMER ASKED IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND SAFE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE SAID "WE INSTALLED THE RECOMMENDED PARTS BY CHRYSLER SERVICE" AND WOULD NOT SAY IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PROPERLY OR SAFE FROM THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION/BRAKE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE AS OF TODAY 12-24-2008 REMAINS AT THE DEALER. *TR
PROBLEM #1: 11/15/08, 1800-1900HR, DRIVING 65MPH INTERSTATE IN MARYLAND AFTER HEAVY RAIN. NO WARNING: HEADLIGHTS OUT, ENGINE STOPPED, DASHBOARD MOSTLY DARK. RADIO STAYED ON. HIT 4-WAY FLASHERS, DROVE TO SIDE OF ROAD. ENGINE RESTARTED EASILY. CAR HAD 2500 MILES ON ODOMETER. PURCHASED NEW 8/25/08. JEEP DEALER UNABLE TO FIND FAULT CODE OR REPLICATE PROBLEM. 2ND PROBLEM: HORN ONLY WORKS WITH HEAVY PRESSURE FROM FIST. DEALER HAS REPLACED HORN PAD TWICE AND SWITCH ONCE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY '08 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO AND DRIVING ON AN ON-RAMP TODAY TO GET ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 35MPH, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I LOST ALL OF THE ELECTRIC IN MY JEEP. THE RADIO WENT OUT, THE ODOMETER AND TEMP/COMPASS WENT BLANK, AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT OVER TO THE SIDE. I THEN TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY PROBLEMS. I DROVE IT ANOTHER HOUR AND HALF HOME AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY OTHER ISSUES. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT ANY TIME I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALER, HOWEVER THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. *TR
2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DIESEL 4X4. POWER LOSS, HESITATION, MOSTLY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS AND GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE IDLES FINE, THEN WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE OUT INTO TRAFFIC IT SPUTTERS AND DOESN'T PROCEED AS EXPECTED. VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY SINCE THE COMPUTER SEES NO CODES SO THE DEALER DOESN'T KNOW WHERE TO START LOOKING. IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHEN IT WILL DO IT. *TR
I WAS HEADING HOME 8/14/08 6PM WHEN A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR TOOK PLACE. I ENTERED FLOODED STREET, OTHER CARS WERE PASSING THROUGH. IN ABOUT 8 INCHES OF WATER THE CAR STALLED. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT STARTED TO SMOKE AND SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. I ABANDONED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY CONFIRMED. THE ADJUSTER ASKED ME IF I HAD THE AIR CONDITIONER ON AND WHEN I SAID YES HE SAID THAT IS WHAT SUCKED WATER INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSED THE PROBLEM . THE CAR WAS THE LIMITED 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. THE AUTO IS "TRAIL RATED" AND HAS THE EMBLEM TO PROVE IT, STRANGE FOR A TRAIL RATED AUTO TO BE TOTALED IN 8 INCHES OF WATER. ALL THE TIME I WAS STUCK IN THE FLOODED STREET OTHER VEHICLES, SEDANS, SUVS AND TRUCKS CONTINUED TO GO THROUGH THE WATER WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD 8000 + MILES AND WAS LEASED ON NOVEMBER 26, 2007. THERE WAS WATER IN THE AIR FILTER AND I ASSUME IN THE ENGINE AND SEVERAL MODULES WERE BURNT OUT. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD 5.7 HEMI WITH 44,000 MILES. CAR HAS FELT SLUGGISH A FEW TIMES TO THE POINT OF ALMOST SHUTTING DOWN. YESTERDAY AS I WAS DRIVING, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON BUT I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS. *TR
RE: 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND EDITION PURCHASED IN SEPT OF 07. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH AND 4 TIMES SINCE I HAVE HAD A LOSS OF POWER TO THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR "REPAIR AND CORRECTION, BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS HAPPENING. THE DEALER IS NOW AT A LOSS AS TO HOW TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. THEIR SOLUTION SEEMS TO BE THAT I SHOULD PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN I FEEL THE POWER FAILING, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THEN RESTART IT TO RESET THE COMPUTER. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE IS BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR AND THE COMPUTER STOP COMMUNICATING. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS NOT RIGHT. THANK YOU. *TR
